1 Breakfast Parfait Ingredients: ¾ cup low-fat cottage cheese or low-fat plain yogurt 1 cup pineapple chunks, papaya chunks or cling peaches 2 teaspoons toasted wheat germ You can tell the child where yogurt comes from. Ask what else is made with milk or is considered Dairy Products. Directions: Place cottage cheese (or yogurt) in a small bowl. Top with fruit and sprinkle with wheat germ. 6 Oatmeal Banana Pancakes Ingredients: ½ cup of oatmeal 3 egg whites 1 medium banana, lightly mashed Cinnamon (to taste) Vanilla (to taste) Athletes do not like to leave home without their bananas because of the burst of energy they provide. What are your favorite sports where bananas would help give you more energy? FYI: Eating just 2 bananas will give enough natural energy to exercise for an hour and a half because of the high amount of vitamins and minerals.

7 Bagel Gone Bananas Monkeys like bananas for the same reason that people do, because they are sweet. What are some other reasons that you think monkeys like bananas? FYI: To keep bagels for longer periods, they can be frozen. Slice them, place in freezer bag and seal tightly. When you are ready to eat them, they can be popped in the toaster while frozen.

8 Mini Mushroom and Sausage Quiches Quiche can be served as breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a snack. What are some things you could put in it to make it different for each meal? FYI: When making quiche, it will turn out better if the ingredients are very cold. For this same reason, it is best to not handle the food much while preparing.

9 Mexican Breakfast Wrap FYI: Cheese is considered to be low fat when there are 3 grams or less of fat per one-ounce serving.

10 Mango-Passion Fruit Smoothie FYI: Did you know that Mangos originated in Southeast Asia. And that mango trees are evergreens and can grow up to 60 feet tall!

11 Scrambled Egg Burritos What is something that you are looking forward to today? FYI: You could substitute the eggs for egg whites to lower calories, fat, and cholesterol. Also you could microwave the tortillas between damp paper towels for about 30 seconds or until hot.

12 Whole-Wheat Apple Pancakes Where is one place that you want to go and why? FYI: Did you know that the first ready-mix food, which was sold commercially, was Aunt Jemima pancake flour. It was invented in 1889 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

13 Vanilla Spice Oatmeal Ask your child to talk about their favorite subject in school. FYI: Oats contain a large amount of carbohydrates and fiber. This promotes very slow digestion and can keep the hunger at bay for a longer time.

14 Baked Apple-Cinnamon French Toast Talk about something relating to breakfast food from your childhood, maybe a story or some memory. FYI: This would be a great breakfast meal when having family over for a holiday or a weekend.
