2 CED, INTRODUCING THE RED 1 DISPENSER Technical Bulletin Reference No Standard Introducing Lancer s newest cold-carbonated dispenser, the Red 1. The Red 1 is a state-of-the-art counter electric dispenser (CED) designed for the international market. Available in 230V/50Hz, the Red 1 offers the following features: Occupies a Small Area of Counter Space The Red 1 provides excellent drink quality while occupying only 13 1/2 (343 mm) of counter space (width). Available With or Without Mini-pumps For new customers, or those with space constraints, having mini-pumps included in the Red 1 is an advantage. Setting up the Red 1 in a new facility will not require purchasing external syrup pumps. The dispenser (inclusive of mini-pumps) also occupies less space overall. Available with Five Post-Mix Dispensing Valves Lancer s patented valve technology ensures consistent drink quality. Extreme Durability The Red 1 s cabinet, water bath and product lines are made of stainless steel. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 2

Timed Agitation Feature Reduces Energy Consumption by 40% Timed agitation means the motor does not run continuously, but rather cycles on and off as required. Since the motor does not run continuously, the ice bank does not dissolve as quickly. Therefore, the compressor - which is where the most energy is used - cycles less times than in non-timed agitation. Earth Friendly The Red 1 has zero global warming/ozone depletion potential. The insulating foam used in the Red 1 is HFC-free. Option to Add Fiberglass Bonnet For a different aesthetic view, add the optional fiberglass bonnet to give the Red 1 a sleek, smooth appearance: Fiberglass Bonnet The Red 1 has received Coca-Cola Sales Equipment Certification and CE Approval. Lancer will start Red 1 production in November. 3

The kit has been updated and now includes several new major and minor brand labels. Labels not included in the kit are available upon request by calling Lancer Customer Service. 6 VALVES, NEW SYRUP SEPARATOR FOR MVU MULTI-FLAVOR NOZZLES Technical Bulletin Reference No Lancer has developed a new Syrup Separator (Lancer PN /01, CC PN ) for MVU multi-flavor nozzles. Using the separator, technicians can more easily and accurately set the brix on a new dispenser. The MVU multi-flavor nozzle syrup separator has similar functionality to the separator used on LEV and Volumetric Valve (VV). Below are instructions for using the new Syrup Separator: STEP 1 STEP 2 Remove outer nozzle by gently rotating and pulling down. Replace with syrup separator, snout facing outward. 7 VALVES, NEW SYRUP SEPARATOR FOR MVU MULTI-FLAVOR NOZZLE, CONT. Technical Bulletin Reference No STEP 3 STEP 4 Gently push the separator up and rotate so the snout faces right. Lock in place. Note that all tabs are also locked into place. Activate the valve to test. Syrup should funnel through the center opening and water should funnel from the snout. No water should funnel through the center opening. If it does, re-attach the separator and test again. STEP 5: Adjust the brix. Syrup Separator With Brix Cup: 7

8 IBD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF HEX DRIVE AGITATOR MOTOR, FS AND 4500 SERIES Technical Bulletin Reference No In the May-June 2008 issue of the Lancer Technical Bulletin, we released an article entitled IBD, Removal and Installation of Hex Drive Agitator Motor. We have since updated this procedure (Instruction Sheet PN ) to ensure the motor has a proper ground prior to aligning the keyway. Please make sure to follow these steps when removing and installing the agitator motor: TO ENSURE EASY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, LEAVE ICE BIN FULL TO POSITION DRIVE TRAIN ASSEMBLY. REMOVAL STEP 1: Disconnect power to dispenser. REMOVAL STEP 2 REMOVAL STEP 3 Remove lever from ice chute by prying side mounting tabs. Remove splash plate. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 8

Disconnect power harness to agitator motor. Remove two upper mounting screws. REMOVAL STEP 6 REMOVAL STEP 7 Remove four bracket screws (4500 only). Remove bracket. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 9

Mark end of motor shaft for keyway location. REMOVAL STEP 10 Slide motor off shaft and remove by tilting up and out. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 10

RETRIEVE KEY AND SET ASIDE TO INSTALL NEW MOTOR. WARNING! INSTALLATION STEPS 1-9 ENSURE THAT THE MOTOR IS PROPERLY GROUNDED WHEN ALIGNING KEYWAY. INSTALLATION STEP 1: Verify keyway mark on end of shaft. INSTALLATION STEP 2: Install motor over shaft without key in place. INSTALLATION STEP 3: Install bracket on motor with 2 screws (4500 only). INSTALLATION STEP 4: Install two bracket mounting screws and connect motor. INSTALLATION STEP 5: Plug in dispenser and activate motor to align keyway. Ensure mark on end of shaft is aligned with slot in motor. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 11

INSTALLATION STEP 7: Remove bracket mounting screws. INSTALLATION STEP 8: Remove bracket screws and bracket. INSTALLATION STEP 9 INSTALLATION STEP 10 To hold key in place during installation, place a small amount of lube grease (i.e. Dow 111) on key and place in key groove on motor shaft. With key and keyway aligned, slide motor onto shaft until the end is exposed beyond the rear of gear housing. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE 12

INSTALLATION STEP 12: Reinstall bracket and four screws (4500 only). INSTALLATION STEP 13: Reinstall two upper bracket mounting screws. INSTALLATION STEP 14: Plug in motor harness. INSTALLATION STEP 15: Reconnect power to unit. Push ice chute to activate agitator motor and ensure proper operation. INSTALLATION STEP 16: Install cover plate and secure with two cover plate screws. INSTALLATION STEP 17: Reinstall splash plate and ice chute lever. 13

15 MEET THE LANCER WARRANTY TEAM: PART 1 Technical Bulletin Reference No As Lancer continues to lead the beverage dispenser industry, it becomes increasingly business-critical to make sure that our units operate at their highest level. The Lancer Warranty team is dedicated to providing superior customer service to the field in order to ensure all dispensers operate at optimum level. Over the next few issues, we will give you the opportunity to meet the people in the Lancer Warranty department. The first Warranty representative we d like to introduce is Ramiro Cantu. Ramiro started off his career at Lancer working in the Print Shop in In 2002, he transferred to the Engineering Lab, where he worked as a Lab Technician. While working in the lab, Ramiro learned how to install, plumb and troubleshoot dispensers. He also conducted testing and was involved with LFCV Research & Development. In 2007, Ramiro transferred to the Warranty department, where he works assisting field technicians and end-users with questions regarding Lancer dispensers. Ramiro also answers warranty claims that Lancer receives. Earlier this month, Ramiro received his 20 Year Service Award for outstanding service at Lancer! Congratulations! 15
