With 100% Texas roots from farm to bottle, BLK EYE is the first vodka crafted by hand from black-eyed peas. The result is a smooth-tasting stroke of genius. Each of our limited-edition bottles will feature a beautiful twist designs by talented local artists who know a thing or two about what it means to be a true Texas original. Our debut bottle features artwork by Fort Worth landscape artist Pat Gabriel, who gives a nod to our signature ingredient with his mixed-media illustration of sunflowers growing in a field of black-eyed peas. The BLK EYE brand will continue to evolve as we commission new artists to share their own unique vision of originality. 10 OUR SIGNATURE INGREDIENT Y ou have to earn the right to be called an original. And, believe us, it doesn t come by following conventional wisdom. We know a thing or two about taking a bold idea and turning it into something special. Just take a look at our signature ingredient that started it all. So what s the real story behind the black-eyed peas? Well, there s a little more to it than wanting to stand out on shelves stacked high with spirits made from more traditional ingredients. Before we were distilling black-eyed peas we were growing them on our family farm in Muleshoe, Texas. We knew black-eyed peas were loaded with the starch necessary to make the fermented mash that can be distilled into liquor. We just needed to prove it. So we put the concept to the test. Let s just say we liked the results.

ALL OF OUR INGREDIENTS ARE 100% TEXAS-SOURCED. O ur vodka is produced using a perfect blend of non-gmo black-eyed peas and corn. The mash is distilled 22 times in a 21-foot column still.

Fresh water goes through reverse osmosis and filtration to bring the vodka to proof. BLK EYE Vodka is 40% alcohol by volume. Charcoal filtration reduces the burn experienced with other vodkas, creating an ultra premium product with a clean, subtle taste ideal for sipping. And as with corn and potato vodkas, distilling with black-eyed peas produces a neutral flavor that s also ideal for mixing. No shortcuts are taken with BLK EYE Vodka. As former farmers, we know the difference quality ingredients can make. That s why we carefully inspect every batch of grains we use. By keeping a hand in every step of the process, we re delivering a farm-to-bottle experience with true Texas roots.

OUR DISTILLERY B lackeyed Distilling Co. is located in a historic firehouse in Fort Worth, Texas. The two-story brick building opened in 1911 and operated as Fire Station No. 5 until 1965.

That hole in the floor where the firemen s pole used to be? It just happens to be the perfect place to fit the of our copper and steel pot still. The distillery produces vodka for wholesale distribution, but it is also open to the public for tastings, tours and special events. A tasting room on the second floor of the distillery offers BLK EYE Vodka and the distillery s other exclusive small-batch spirits as cocktails or by the bottle. A custom-built bar has been installed complete with copper hardware. And the distillery s 31,000-square-foot lot provides plenty of space for outdoor events.

16 TREY NICKELS J. TODD GREGORY MASTER DISTILLER Born and raised in Muleshoe, Texas, Trey Nickels began working on his family s black-eyed pea farm when he was 14. But farming in West Texas can take its toll. Hard hit by drought, he considered letting cattle graze in the fields. Then he had an even better idea. Why not vodka? Nickels knew blackeyed peas had the starch for distilling. He just needed to prove it. He worked with Sherman Owen, an esteemed distillery consultant from Kentucky, to perfect techniques and finalize formulas and what began as a bold vision was ready to bottle. CO-CEO, CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER Our West Texas farming roots run deep at BlackEyed Distilling Co. Born and raised on a farm in Petersburg, Texas, Todd Gregory graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. After 30 years astray in the banking industry focusing on new market expansion and product development, he s ready to get back to those roots with a true farm-to-bottle vodka.

He s a certified public accountant with a degree from the University of New Mexico. He d just rather be distilling beans than counting them these days.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, he brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry with expertise in accounting, auditing and process improvement. He s a certified public accountant with a degree from the University of New Mexico. He d just rather be distilling beans than counting them these days. TASTING ROOM MANAGER Trey Nickels dream of a vodka made from black-eyed peas may never have come true without his first investor aka his mother. Born and raised on the family farm in Muleshoe, Texas, Deborah Nickels also managed the family-owned facility that processed small grains and dry edible beans. So when it comes to our signature ingredient, she brings plenty of knowledge to the tasting room.
