1 Why the name Yellow Rose? Houston, Texas 2013 Founded in 2010, Yellow Rose Distilling is Houston s first whiskey distillery. Master distiller, Troy Smith, came up with the clever idea after discussing the success of other Texas distilleries. After many months of tasting & touring distilleries throughout the US, and considering various products, Troy settled on the idea of Texas bourbon. Yellow Rose received Federal and State licensing early in 2012 and started developing the first product, Outlaw Bourbon. Located in Houston, Texas, we are a small artisan distillery that takes great pride in our work. What classifies bourbon? Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon (46% ALC / VOL) breaks all traditional bourbon laws just like the Outlaws of the old west.

Aged in small American oak barrels, Outlaw Bourbon is a full flavored whiskey with warm caramel and vanilla overtones.

2 What classifies bourbon? Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey Yellow Rose Outlaw Bourbon (46% ALC / VOL) breaks all traditional bourbon laws just like the Outlaws of the old west. Made from 100% corn (industry standard is typically 51%) our recipe produces a sweet flavor we know you will enjoy. Aged in small American oak barrels, Outlaw Bourbon is a full flavored whiskey with warm caramel and vanilla overtones. Not many distillers still use the traditional pot still, but we believe this helps us produce a true small batch whiskey. Color: Old gold, copper Nose: Intense aroma, rich caramel and vanilla with a hint of floral Palate: Slightly sweet and extremely rich Finish: Long finish that maintains caramel and vanilla throughout, almost like a good dessert Comments: Very unique bourbon providing a great experience for both enthusiasts and first timers! Whiskey is a distilled spirit produced from grains such as corn, rye, barley and wheat. There are various types of whiskey including bourbon, rye and malt. By law bourbon must be made in the USA from a mash of at least 51% corn and aged in new American oak barrels. How do you make the bourbon? The finest corn is selected and milled to the proper consistency. The corn is cooked with other ingredients to separate the starches. Yeast is added and the mash is allowed to ferment. The liquid is removed and distilled twice in our copper pot still. After distillation, we age the alcohol in American white oak barrels which gives the bourbon color and flavor. After the aging process is complete, we filter and bottle the bourbon. Each bottle is labeled and hand numbered before leaving our distillery. For more information and videos visit our website.

In the last few years, many discerning whiskey fans have come to love rye whiskey as it was in the early 1900's. In fact, some of the famous bourbon cocktails were actually first created using rye.

4 Never heard of rye whiskey? Yellow Rose Straight Rye Whiskey Yellow Rose Straight Rye Whiskey (46% ALC / VOL) is hand selected, blended and bottled right here in Texas. Made from 95% rye, this special release production spirit is a true American classic perfect for fine cocktails. In the last few years, many discerning whiskey fans have come to love rye whiskey as it was in the early 1900's. In fact, some of the famous bourbon cocktails were actually first created using rye. With cocktail bars popping up all over Texas, rye is also experiencing a resurgence of interest. Color: Light amber Nose: Really a complex nose with spice, vanilla oak and some subtle floral notes Palate: Pepper, spice with various lingering flavors Finish: Medium spicy finish with a nice kick, indicative of the rye Yellow Rose Distilling went on a quest to find some of this elusive whiskey. After some considerable effort, we were able to track down just 21 premium aged barrels. This rye whiskey is rather rare given only a few distilleries currently make such product. What makes rye different than bourbon? Rye whiskey must be made from a mash bill of at least 51% rye, where bourbon uses corn. Like bourbon however, rye whiskey must be aged in a new oak barrel. There is no age requirement, but our rye whiskey has been sitting in barrels for at least 4 years, some even longer. By blending the barrels together we created a one of a kind whiskey that is perfect for both cocktails and sipping straight. 5 Troy Smith Troy is a founding partner and the master distiller for Yellow Rose Distilling. An entrepreneur at heart, Troy fell in love with the art of distilling after attending various craft distilling classes throughout the US. After experimenting with many ingredients, Troy developed a recipe for a unique whiskey, later to become Outlaw Bourbon. Ryan baird Ryan is a founding and managing partner, focused on sales and marketing, general business functions and government affairs. He has over ten years experience in high tech strategy, marketing and engineering. As a native Houstonian, he enjoys fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Ryan holds an MBA from the Jones School of Business at Rice University and undergrad in electrical engineering from the University of Houston. Randy Whitaker Randy is an early investor and managing partner, focusing on finance, administration and strategy development. While he wasn't born in Texas, Randy got here as fast as he could! He enjoys playing tennis, other outdoor activities and spending time with his family. Randy holds an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University and both undergrad and graduate degrees in accounting.
