The product chosen was fresh mangoes. Similar information is available for any product exported from Thailand. The information is supplied in Excel file format and the file is designed to enable efficient analysis of the underlying statistics. At the end of this paper there is list two typical exports transaction to demonstrate the underlying export information that is available in TradeData s standard Excel file. Table Top Ten Destination Countries The following table comes directly out of our standard excel file and shows monthly the top ten destination countries in terms of volumes per month and average prices per month, by country. This table provides a convenient summary of month to month movements in exports. TradeData will normally supply the current year and five years of back data in its data files. However if more data is required, in most cases, we can supply at no extra charge. The red line shows average prices without Transport and Insurance Costs (FOB values). Export volumes and prices are highly seasonal. The peak season is during the second quarter of each year. Exports of 10,000 tonnes or more are possible at this time with average prices around $US 0.75 per kg. During the offpeak season prices are far higher but exports volumes are far lower. 3 Jan/12 Page 3 November 6, 2017 Average Prices Top Six Supply Countries over Time The following chart list average prices over time for the Top 6 destination countries for Thailand exports. Average prices into South Korea, Japan and sometimes China are far higher than other major destination countries. Whereas exports to Viet Nam, Malaysia and Laos are at well below average prices. There are two clear market segments in this data. These charts draw the major destination countries market shares over time. Thailand exports fresh mangoes mainly to other Asian countries with Viet Nam by far the largest market. Other important markets are Malaysia and South Korea. In 2014 Thailand exported 45 thousand tonnes of mangoes and volume have declined in subsequent year mostly due to reduced exports to Viet Nam. This shows, thus far for 2017, the volumes exported at different price points and the major destination markets supplied at these price points. The Excel file enables the user to select different years and to the chart will redraw itself accordingly. This chart shows two distinct and very different market segments. The first, much larger and lower priced segment is exports of fresh mangoes to Viet Nam and Malaysia at $US 0.20 per kilogram. The second major price point are exports to South Korea at prices between $US 2.80 and $US 3.60 per kilogram. Exports to Japan also occur at around $US 3.60 per kilogram.
