3 THE JAVA U EXPERIEN CE Java U celebrates coffee in all of its possible incarnations. Although our coffee is front and center to the Java U experience, our chain of eat-in and take-out bistros serve a curated selection of paninis and wraps, artisanal salads and hearty soups made daily. We top our cafe-eatery experience with a selection of delicious baked goods for those who are looking for a sweet treat. Beyond the great menu our mandate is to create cafe environments that offer comfort, easy accessibility and ambience. Java U cafes become a place that you want to spend your afternoon, meet friends, have an after movie treat or your go to stop to grab a quick coffee and a smile from our friendly staff. The combination of fantastic coffee and great food in a fast casual environment is what makes the concept work.

Started in 1996 at Concordia University, the concept now boasts locations in Canada, the UK and the Middle East.

6 OUR COFFEE Java U proudly serves only Fairtrade Organic (FTO) coffee blends meaning more than just a great cup of coffee: It signifies a fair and just choice for our coffee drinkers and to the farmers who cultivate our beans which are pesticide-free, pure and full of flavor; making Java U coffee a better and healthier choice.

8 OUR DRINKS Our beverages are handcrafted by our professionally trained baristas all day long, for all types of caffeine cravings you might have. We are proud to serve a wide range of traditional espresso drinks along with a bevy of delicious single-serve beverages. Said to capture coffee s true nature, espresso is a style of roast and a way to brew coffee. Originating from the Latin word meaning to press out, it is brewed in small amounts under extreme pressure to produce coffee that is stronger in taste and concentration than regular drip coffee.

9 OUR FOOD Fresh from our exclusive culinary facility and veteran chef, the Java U menu includes classic breakfast items, sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads that are all reinterpreted with exotic flavor combinations, including hummus, pesto, sundried tomatoes and many more. The result is a hip, sophisticated experience delivered with friendliness and originality. We offer fresh muffins, croissants, cookies, danishes and other baked goods that are perfectly paired with our coffee selection. Our baked goods can also be delivered frozen and then freshly baked on location.

12 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Question: Do I need experience as a café owner to become a Java U franchisee? No, Java U accepts franchisees based on their personality, and their desire to learn. Java U will provide all of the necessary training. Question: How much do I need to invest? Typically a franchisee will invest from $250,000 to $400,000 depending on the size of the location and the amount of leasehold improvements necessary. Question: What does the franchise include? As a Java U franchisee you will benefit from building design and construction assistance, site selection and lease negotiation assistance, R&D support, marketing support, training and on-going operational support. You will also be provided with fantastic gourmet product. Question: Who designs and builds my Java U? Java U will provide design and construction support up to and including managing the entire process if you wish.

13 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Question: Will someone help me find a location and negotiate a lease? Yes, we will provide you with all necessary real-estate support including helping you negotiate your lease. Question: Can I own more than one Java U? Once we have established a strong relationship through the successful operation of one store, additional store rights will be made available. Question: Do I need to work day-to-day in the store? The most successful model we have observed is one in which an owner is involved on a day-to-day basis. Question: Is there financing available through Java U? Although Java U does not offer financing, we do offer support in obtaining a small business loan. Question: What is the next step? The next step is an interview with our franchise development specialist. Selected candidates will be contacted by a Java U representative to discuss the process.
