If tere are differences between te erection metod statement and te instructions given below, te differences sould be approved by structural engineer. Before assembling te DELTABEAM Frame 1. Control measurements for foundations: Ancor bolts Sould be done well in advance of te first deliveries See Peikko s Tecnical Manuals for HPM Rebar Ancor Bolt or PPM Hig-Strengt Ancor Bolt for furter information. Locate te ancor bolts were te composite columns are to be installed Inspect te bolts visually to ensure tat tey are not damaged Measure te locations of bolt groups and individual bolts Ensure tat te locations of bolts are witin te tolerances (for HPM Ancor Bolts see Table 2 below, for PPM Hig-Strengt Ancor Bolts see te Tecnical Manual) Contact Peikko if te tolerances are exceeded Table 2. 2 2. Deliveries and storage on site Te steel members of te are delivered to te site in lots according to te project scedule. Te deliveries sould be planned so tat assembly is possible as soon as te goods ave arrived on site. Te surface treatment of te steel members is not designed for long-term weater exposure. Reserve a storage area for te steel members wic is large enoug, flat and is witin te reac of te planned crane positions Prepare lifting and moving equipment for unloading te items from te truck NOTE: te DELTABEAM steel members are not loaded onto te truck in te order of installation. Te steel members are marked wit identification codes in accordance wit te drawings. Lay te steel members on wooden logs and to protect te surface treatment If te steel members are to be stored in piles place wooden logs between tem and ensure tat te pile is stable (see Figure 7) For long-term storage, cover te steel members Figure 7. 3 Erecting columns 1. In te storage area Locate te next column in order according to te assembly plan Ceck te column identification label to ensure tat te column is correct Ensure tat te column is free of dirt, water, snow, and ice Ceck tat te internal reinforcement is intact Lift te column using te oist bracket located at te top of te column (see Figure 8) Attac te lifting ook directly to te lifting point. At te assembly location Adjust te lower nuts and wasers of te Peikko HPM or PPM Ancor Bolt to te correct level If te column needs to be propped, ave te equipment ready Ensure te correct alignment of te column before laying it on te ancor bolts Lower te column onto te ancor bolts and install te upper wasers and nuts Screw te upper wasers and nuts onto te bolts and align te column to te vertical by adjusting te leveling nuts Tigten te nuts at least to te minimum given in te installation manual of Peikko s HPM or PPM Ancor Bolts. For HPM Ancor Bolts see Table 1. For PPM Ancor Bolts see te tecnical manual. If te column is to be propped, te diagonal props are fixed into te floor and to te treaded oles of te column profile (see Figure 9) Release te crane Grout te joint between te column s base plate foundation/floor using non-srinking grout. 4 Concreting columns Columns can be filled wit concrete by two different metods: Pumping from te bottom Filling from te top Te filling metod affects te column design, so it is always decided during te design process. 1. Before concreting Ensure tat te column is free of dirt, water, and ice Ensure tat te column is installed in te correct vertical position Ensure tat te steam oles are closed using plastic plug Ensure tat tere is a large enoug opening at te top of te column to control te filling Ensure tat te propping (if required) is intact Ensure tat te concrete (grade, aggregate size, consistency) fulfills te planned requirements Wen pumping from te bottom, ensure tat a suitable ose input joint (see Fig 10) is available and tat it fits into te column and te concreting ose Have a saft or form vibrator ready for compacting (if not using self-compacting concrete) 2. Receiving te concrete Self-compacting concrete: verify te consistency and temperature of eac batc Regular concrete: ceck eac batc visually Air-entrained concrete: measure te air content of te concrete in eac batc 3. Concreting pumping from te bottom Align te pump ose, avoiding sarp bends and steep climbs Before concreting, pump any inadequate concrete into a concrete waste dump Attac te ose to te input joint (see Fig 10) Start filling te column (recommended filling rate is 1 m/min) If te filling is blocked and te concrete pressure starts to rise, do not try to open te blockage by increasing te pump pressure Wen te concrete level reaces te top of te column, continue pumping as long tere is segregated concrete coming out Take extra care tat te concrete at te top end of te column is properly compacted and in te last 1.5 m from te top of te column if necessary Close te ose input joint by sliding te joint (see Fig 10) Remove te concreting ose and connect it to te next column Wipe any external concrete splatters from te column Wen 30 minutes ave elapsed from te end of te concreting, ceck te level of concrete at te top of te column If te concrete level as dropped, top up te column wit additional concrete and vibrate te top section as long as tere are air bubbles coming up NOTE: Wit self-compacting concrete, vibrate according to te instructions provided by te concrete supplier. Optionally, te top end can be filled by grouting. Wen te concrete as ardened enoug (approximately 12 to 24 ours) remove te input joint

Concreting filling from te top Align te pump ose, avoiding sarp bends and steep climbs Before concreting, pump any inadequate concrete into a concrete waste dump Lower te vibrator to te bottom of te column Start filling te column (recommended filling rate is 1 m/min) To prevent segregation, minimize te drop eigt of te concrete. Never use a drop eigt of more tan 1 m. Use te vibrator in vertical steps so tat te maximum step size () is 30 cm (see Figure 11), simultaneously monitoring te filling and staying seconds at eac step. Do not move back and fort. Take extra care wit vibrating for te last 1.5 m from te top of te column Wipe any external concrete splatters from te column Wen 30 minutes ave elapsed from te end of te concreting, ceck te level of concrete at te top of te column If te concrete level as dropped, top up te column wit additional concrete and vibrate te top section as long as tere are air bubbles coming up NOTE: Wit self-compacting concrete, vibrate according to te instructions provided by te concrete supplier. Concreting at cold temperatures Wen te air temperature is below +5 C during casting or two days tereafter, a cold weater concreting plan must be prepared. Precautions sould be taken wen daily average temperatures remain below +10 C. Rapid strengt concrete is recommended. Higer strengt concrete, cold weater concrete, or ot concrete may also be considered. Columns can be equipped wit internal eating cables. Remove any snow and ice inside te column Ensure tat te eating cables are intact Wrap te column in insulation material Monitor and record te temperature during te ardening process
