World Fair Trade Organisation WFTO: WORKING TOGETHER FOR A GLOBAL FAIR TRADE SYSTEM WFTO Global Board of Directors: Luis Heller, ALLPA- Perú Ileana Cordón, Crecer-CreArte- Guatemala
FAIR TRADE "Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers especially in the South. Fair Trade organisations have a clear commitment to Fair Trade as the principal core of their mission. They, backed by consumers, are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade." They can be recognised by the WFTO logo.
Fair Trade is more than just trading: It proves that greater justice in world trade is possible. It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and economic crisis.
Working for a sustainable and fair global economy is our job! Membership and Guarantee Sytem Setting the Fair Trade Standard for Organisations Voice (advocacy and campaigning) Market Access Global Network of Fair Trade
The four hundred and one (401) member organisations are comprised of: three hundred and thirty-five (335) Fair Trade Trading Organizations (FTO), thirty-four (34) Fair Trade Support Organisations (FTSO), thirty-two (32) national Fair Trade Networks (FTN), as well as three (3) Associate Organisations (AO). Most of our members (71%) are based in Africa & Mid- dle East, Latin America and Asia. Asia has the highest number of members followed by Europe.
Being part of WFTO means... being part of the global network of 100% Fair Trade organizations, ownership of a credible and internationally recognized product label, learning through sharing, available tools for market access, to create and share the common voice of trade justice.

The WFTO Fair Trade Standard The WFTO Fair Trade Standard comprises a set of compliance criteria based on the 10 Fair Trade Principles and International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. Many of these criteria are mandatory requirements to join WFTO (MUST). There are also other requirements where FTOs must show continuous improvement over time

The result If successful Once guaranteed, member may use WFTO Label on products If unsuccessful The necessary steps will be followed up to assist in the areas where the FTO requires improvement. They will be encouraged to improve and then reapply.
Ongoing accountability Submit SAR every 2 years + audit and/or peer visit. The schedule of audit & Peer visits will be determined according to risk level (low/ medium/high) There is an online watch system where the public can report compliance issues of WFTO members.

WFTO in EUROPE European consumers are looking for products of high quality and well design products; healthy, social and environmentally responsible: Fair Trade is an answer. 27% of the European population are millennials and they are part of that tendency; The European consumer is looking for a Certification System that can warranty that products they are buying are benefitting directly marginalized producers and workers. The increase of WFTO members in the last 3 years coincide with the Guarantee System implementation; WFTO is part of the International Fair-Trade Towns Campaign, that in Europe, United States, Asia, Africa and LA is helping to integrate the consumers and producers. 2017: One of the biggest achievements is the adoption of the revised International Charter of Fair Trade, a global document for the Fair-Trade movement..
