4 We are pioneers The idea of optimizing wheat physically and chemically was born about 250 years ago. It gave rise to an industry of its own, on which Mühlenchemie has had a decisive influence in the 90 years since its establishment. Not least because of the strategy, which it pursues successfully to this day, of concentrating on its core business of improving and fortifying flour and developing new products that are always a step ahead of the more and more sophisticated requirements.... in the development of innovative products Mühlenchemie is the first company to use specific additives for improving flour. 5 We are global players Although the focus was originally on the European market, Mühlenchemie now exports its products to over 100 countries. In order to support our customers on the spot, around the world, the company now runs eight foreign affiliates and 65 representative offices. Our aim for the future is to strengthen our direct contact with customers through new firms and representative offices and offer even more individual solutions. and present throughout the world Germany Mühlenchemie opens a new production facility in Wittenburg with state-of-the-art, fully automated compounding plant. DEM 2001 Singapore With the establishment of Mühlenhemie Asia (now Stern Ingredients Asia-Pacific), the company intensifies its contacts in the South East Asian region St. Petersburg, Russia Establishment of the affiliate Stern Ingredients Russia, with a rheological laboratory and trial bakery of its own Warsaw, Poland Opening of a representative office in Warsaw in order to strengthen Mühlenchemie s presence in Poland Mumbai, India Mühlenchemie and Nensey Foods establish Stern Ingredients India as a joint undertaking Mexico In Mexico, Mühlenchemie takes over the local flour specialist Probst Alimentaria, with extensive production plant and a trial bakery São Paulo, Brazil Mühlenchemie strengthens its presence in Latin America by establishing Stern Ingredients do Brasil Suzhou, China Mühlenchemie opens an affiliate with a production facility and trial bakery of its own in Asia too Izmir, Turkey Turkey is a major flour producer. At our affiliate Stern Ingredients Turkey we develop country-specific products on the spot and make them up on our own plant. That is why we organize and maintain dialogue and an exchange of knowledge on several levels from the start with colleagues, customers and partners. for all who expect more from flour. 1991, 2004, 2007, 2011 International symposium Future of Flour Mühlenchemie regularly initiates international symposiums designed to promote the country-specific improvement of flour and the transfer of knowledge within the industry Strong partnerships Start of cooperation between Mühlenchemie and the Food Fortification Initiative (FFI), the aim being to counteract worldwide malnutrition with vitamins and minerals. This is followed in subsequent years by further partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). Close contacts are also maintained with other organizations such as UNICEF, Helen Keller International and the Micronutrient Initiative The Technology Centre in Ahrensburg Mühlenchemie establishes the Technology Centre in Ahrensburg, where expertise in additives for many areas of food production and development of their applications are concentrated under one roof.
