4 RINGKASAN SUMMARY

5 PERANGKAAN PERDAGANGAN LUAR NEGERI MALAYSIA OKTOBER 2013 # FAKTA PENTING Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, eksport meningkat RM5.9 bilion (+9.6%) daripada RM61.2 bilion. Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, import naik RM7.2 bilion (+13.9%) daripada RM51.7 bilion. Berasaskan bulan ke bulan, eksport meningkat RM3.8 bilion (+6.1%) kepada RM67.1 bilion. Dalam terma pelarasan musim, eksport meningkat 0.6%. Berasaskan bulan ke bulan, import naik RM4.3 bilion (+7.8%) kepada RM58.9 bilion. Dalam terma pelarasan musim, import naik 4.7%. Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, pertumbuhan eskport disumbangkan oleh kenaikan eksport ke Republik Rakyat China (+RM1.7 bilion), Kesatuan Eropah (+RM1.2 bilion), Australia (+RM814.9 juta) dan Hong Kong (+RM711.2 juta). Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, kenaikan import disebabkan oleh import daripada Republik Rakyat China (+RM1.1 bilion), Taiwan (+RM943.4 juta), Amerika Syarikat (+RM668.3 juta), India (+RM625.8 juta), Argentina (+RM502.4 juta), Saudi Arabia (+RM435.1 juta) dan Thailand (+RM430.5 juta). PERDAGANGAN Jumlah perdagangan Malaysia pada bulan Oktober 2013 bernilai RM126.0 bilion meningkat RM13.1 bilion atau 11.6% berbanding tahun lalu. Berasaskan bulan ke bulan, ia turut mencatatkan peningkatan 6.9% atau RM8.1 bilion. Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, lebihan dagangan turun 13.7% atau RM1.3 bilion kepada RM8.2 bilion. Lebihan dagangan juga turun 5.0% atau RM430.4 juta berbanding dengan bulan sebelumnya. EKSPORT Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, eksport meningkat 9.6% atau RM5.9 bilion. Produk utama yang menyumbang kepada kenaikan ini ialah: Barangan elektrik dan elektronik, yang menyumbang 33.3% kepada jumlah eksport, meningkat 12.7% atau RM2.5 bilion kepada RM22.4 bilion; Nota: # Data bulan Oktober 2013 adalah provisional dan tertakluk kepada pindaan dalam keluaran berikutnya. i

6 Keluaran petroleum, yang menyumbang 10.9% kepada jumlah eksport, melonjak 29.1% atau RM1.7 bilion kepada RM7.3 bilion disebabkan oleh kenaikan kedua-dua volum (+19.0%) dan nilai purata seunit (+8.5%); Gas asli cecair, yang menyumbang 7.5% daripada jumlah eksport, meningkat RM568.7 juta (+12.8%) kepada RM5.0 bilion yang disebabkan peningkatan nilai purata seunit (+15.8%), walaupun volum jatuh 2.5%; Petroleum mentah, yang merupakan 4.0% daripada jumlah eksport, naik 9.1% atau RM225.3 juta kepada RM2.7 bilion. Ia berikutan peningkatan kedua-dua nilai purata seunit (+5.9%) dan volum (+3.0%); dan Kayu dan hasil keluaran kayu, yang menyumbang 2.7% daripada jumlah eksport, menokok 1.1% atau RM18.8 juta kepada RM1.8 bilion. Walau bagaimanapun, produk berikut menunjukkan penurunan: Minyak kelapa sawit dan hasil keluaran kelapa sawit, yang merupakan 8.9% daripada jumlah eksport, jatuh RM619.6 juta (-9.4%) kepada RM6.0 bilion yang disebabkan oleh kejatuhan nilai purata seunit (-11.7%) walaupun volum naik 2.6%. 7 Berasaskan bulan ke bulan, eksport meningkat 6.1% atau RM3.8 bilion disebabkan: Keluaran petroleum, melonjak RM2.3 bilion (+46.1%) daripada RM5.0 bilion disebabkan oleh kenaikan volum (54.9%), walaupun nilai purata seunit jatuh 5.7%; Barangan elektrik dan elektronik, meningkat 2.7% atau RM592.6 juta daripada RM21.8 bilion; Minyak kelapa sawit dan hasil keluaran kelapa sawit, menaik 10.5% atau RM568.0 juta daripada RM5.4 bilion disebabkan peningkatan volum (+18.4%), walaupun nilai purata seunit turun (-6.6%); Kayu dan hasil keluaran kayu, meningkat 11.9% atau RM191.7 juta daripada RM1.6 bilion; dan Gas asli cecair, naik RM101.8 juta atau 2.1% daripada RM4.9 bilion. Peningkatan ini disebabkan oleh kenaikan volum (+5.9%), walaupun nilai purata seunit jatuh 3.6%. Walau bagaimanapun, produk berikut menunjukkan penurunan: Petroleum mentah, turun RM539.4 juta atau 16.6% daripada RM3.2 bilion. Ia disebabkan oleh kejatuhan kedua-dua volum (-15.5%) dan nilai purata seunit (-1.3%). Data Pelarasan Musim Berdasarkan terma pelarasan musim bulan ke bulan, eksport naik RM406.0 juta (+0.6%) kepada RM63.3 bilion. IMPORT Berasaskan tahun ke tahun, import meningkat 13.9% atau RM7.2 bilion kepada RM58.9 bilion. Kenaikan ini disebabkan oleh import yang tinggi bagi barang pengantara, barang modal dan barang penggunaan. Barang Pengantara Barangan ini menyumbang 57.7% daripada jumlah import, meningkat RM3.9 bilion (+13.0%) kepada RM34.0 bilion. Kenaikan ini disumbangkan oleh alat ganti dan aksesori barang modal (kecuali alat kelengkapan iii

8 pengangkutan) (+14.5%, +RM1.6 bilion) dan bahan api & pelincir, proses yang meningkat sebanyak RM951.2 juta. Walau bagaimanapun, bahan api & pelincir, utama mencatatkan penurunan sebanyak 11.8% atau RM226.1 juta. Barang Modal Import barang modal yang menyumbang 13.9% daripada jumlah import, meningkat RM464.1 juta atau 6.0% kepada RM8.2 bilion. Komponen utama yang menyumbangkan kepada kenaikan adalah kelengkapan pengangkutan perindustrian (+89.3%, +RM663.8 juta), walaupun barang modal (kecuali alat kelengkapan pengangkutan) turun (-2.9%, -RM199.8 juta). Barang Penggunaan Barangan ini yang menyumbang 6.9% daripada jumlah import meningkat RM229.1 juta (+5.9%) kepada RM4.1 bilion disebabkan bahan tidak tahan lama (+14.7%, +RM137.4 juta) dan alat kelengkapan pengangkutan bukan perindustrian (+75.0%, +RM67.9 juta). Walau bagaimanapun, bahan separa tahan lama jatuh 5.7% atau RM39.8 juta. Import, iv

9 Berasaskan bulan ke bulan, import meningkat RM4.3 bilion atau 7.8% daripada RM54.6 bilion. Pertumbuhan ini disebabkan oleh peningkatan import bagi barang pengantara dan barang penggunaan. Barang Pengantara Barangan ini naik RM2.5 bilion atau 7.9% daripada RM31.5 bilion. Peningkatan ini disumbangkan oleh bahan api & pelincir, utama (+79.6%, +RM1.7 bilion), dan alat ganti & aksesori untuk barang modal (kecuali alat kelengkapan pengangkutan) (+6.6%, +RM768.2 juta). Barang Penggunaan Barangan ini meningkat RM75.9 juta (+1.9%) daripada RM4.0 bilion disebabkan kenaikan dalam bahan tahan lama (+11.3%, +RM56.3 juta), bahan tidak tahan lama (+2.5%, +RM26.6 juta) dan alat kelengkapan pengangkutan, bukan perindustrian (+5.1%, +RM7.7 juta). Barang modal Import bagi barangan ini menyusut RM378.0 juta atau 4.4% daripada RM8.6 bilion disebabkan oleh kejatuhan alat kelengkapan pengangkutan perindustrian (-39.5%, -RM917.2 juta). Data Pelarasan Musim Berdasarkan terma pelarasan musim bulan ke bulan, import meningkat RM2.5 bilion (+4.7%) kepada RM55.9 bilion. v

12 MALAYSIA EXTERNAL TRADE STATISTICS OCTOBER 2013 # KEY FACTS On a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, exports increased RM5.9 billion (+9.6%) from RM61.2 billion. On a y-o-y basis, imports rose by RM7.2 billion (+13.9%) from RM51.7 billion. On a month-on-month (m-o-m) basis, exports rose RM3.8 billion (+6.1%) to RM67.1 billion. In seasonally adjusted terms, exports rose 0.6%. On a m-o-m basis, imports increased RM4.3 billion (+7.8%) to RM58.9 billion. In seasonally adjusted terms, imports rose 4.7%. On a y-o-y basis, export growth was contributed by higher exports to People s Republic of China (+RM1.7 billion), European Union (+RM1.2 billion), Australia (+RM814.9 million) and Hong Kong (+RM711.2 million). On a y-o-y basis, higher imports were mainly from People s Republic of China (+RM1.1 billion), Taiwan (+RM943.4 million), United States of America (+RM668.3 million), India (+RM625.8 million), Argentina (+RM502.4 million), Saudi Arabia (+RM435.1 million) and Thailand (+RM430.5 million). TRADE Total trade in October 2013 which was valued at RM126.0 billion increased RM13.1 billion or 11.6% from a year ago. On a m-o-m basis, it also registered an increase of 6.9% or RM8.1 billion. On a y-o-y basis, the trade surplus declined 13.7% or RM1.3 billion to RM8.2 billion. Similarly compared with the previous month a decrease of 5.0% or RM430.4 million was recorded. EXPORTS On a y-o-y basis, exports rose 9.6% or RM5.9 billion. The main products contributing to this increase were: Electrical and electronic (E&E) products, which accounted for 33.3% of total exports, increased 12.7% or RM2.5 billion to RM22.4 billion; Note: # The October 2013 data is provisional and subject to revision in later issues. viii

13 Petroleum products, which contributed 10.9% to total exports, expanded 29.1% or RM1.7 billion to RM7.3 billion due to the increase in both volume (+19.0%) and average unit value (+8.5%); Liquefied natural gas (LNG), which accounted for 7.5% of total exports, rose RM568.7 million (+12.8%) to RM5.0 billion due to the increase in average unit value (+15.8%), although volume fell 2.5%; Crude petroleum, which accounted for 4.0% of total exports, went up 9.1% or RM225.3 million to RM2.7 billion due to the increases in both average unit value (+5.9%) and volume (+3.0%); and Timber and timber-based products, which contributed 2.7% to total exports, increased 1.1% or RM18.8 million to RM1.8 billion. However, following product recorded a decrease: Palm oil and palm oil-based products, which contributed 8.9% of total exports, decreased RM619.6 million (-9.4%) to RM6.0 billion due to the decline in average unit value (-11.7%), although volume increased by 2.6%. 14 On a m-o-m basis, exports rose 6.1 % or RM3.8 billion due to: Petroleum products, increased RM2.3 billion (+46.1%) from RM5.0 billion due to the increase in volume (+54.9%), although average unit value fell 5.7%; E&E products, increased 2.7% or RM592.6 million from RM21.8 billion; Palm oil and palm oil-based products, went up 10.5% or RM568.0 million from RM5.4 billion due to the increase in volume (+18.4% ), although average unit value dropped (-6.6%) ; Timber & timber-based products, increased 11.9% or RM191.7 million from RM1.6 billion, and LNG, increased RM101.8 million or 2.1% from RM4.9 billion. This increase was due to the rise in volume (+5.9 %) although average unit value declined 3.6%. However, the following product recorded a decline: Crude petroleum, decreased RM539.4 million or 16.6% from RM3.2 billion due to the decline in both volume (-15.5%) and average unit value (-1.3%). Seasonally Adjusted Figure On a m-o-m basis seasonally adjusted terms, exports rose RM406.0 million (+0.6%) to RM63.3 billion. IMPORTS On a y-o-y basis, imports increased 13.9% or RM7.2 billion to RM58.9 billion. The expansion was attributed to higher imports of intermediate goods, capital goods and consumption goods. Intermediate Goods These goods constituting 57.7% of total imports expanded RM3.9 billion (+13.0%) to RM34.0 billion. The increase was mainly contributed by parts & accessories of capital goods (except transport equipment) (+14.5%, +RM1.6 billion) and fuel & lubricants, processed which increased by RM951.2 million. However, there was a decrease of 11.8% or RM226.1 million in industrial supplies, primary. x

15 Capital Goods Imports of these goods which represented 13.9% of total imports went up RM464.1 million or 6.0% to RM8.2 billion due to the increase in industrial transport equipment (+89.3%, +RM663.8 million), although capital goods (except transport equipment) decreased (-2.9%, -RM199.8 million). Consumption Goods Imports of consumption goods which constituted 6.9% of total imports rose RM229.1 million (+5.9%) to RM4.1 billion. The main components attributed to the increase were non-durables (+14.7%, +RM137.4 million) and transport equipment, non-industrial (+75.0%, +RM67.9 million). 16 On a m-o-m basis, imports increased RM4.3 billion or 7.8% from RM54.6 billion. This growth was due to higher imports of intermediate goods and consumption goods. Intermediate Goods These goods increased RM2.5 billion or 7.9% from RM31.5 billion. The increase was mainly contributed by fuel & lubricants, primary (+79.6%, +RM1.7 billion), and parts and accessories of capital goods (except transport equipment) (+6.6%, +RM768.2 million). Consumption Goods These goods rose RM75.9 million (+1.9%) from RM4.0 billion due to the increase in durables (+11.3%, +RM56.3 million), non-durables (+2.5%, +RM26.6 million) and transport equipment, non-industrial (+5.1%, +RM7.7 million). Capital Goods Imports of capital goods declined RM378.0 million or 4.4% from RM8.6 billion due to a reduction in transport equipment, industrial (-39.5%, -RM917.2 million).
