Apply one coat of Multi-purpose Sealer and allow to dry thoroughly. Gingerbread Faces in the Basket: To convert the roses in the basket to gingerbread faces, use the DecoArt Snow Writer. Apply snow over each rose to fill in the petals, making them rounded. In the areas where there are leaves, create a face over them to conceal them. Allow to dry until hardened, or overnight. 1

3 Pattern Transfer: Trace pattern onto tracing paper, cutting around black outline on pattern. On the five areas that have are dashed V-shapes, with a solid line drawn through the center, crease the paper on the solid line, matching up the dashed lines together. Fold on the dashed lines; this will create a dart and will help to fit the pattern a little better to the shape of the angel. Carefully align pattern to body, fitting the gingerbread directly below her hand that holds the basket. Slip grey transfer paper beneath pattern and trace as much of the apron outline as possible. The top portion of the apron and dress will need to be drawn by hand referring to the photos for guidance. To determine where the dress sleeves should end, draw a line on her arms three quarters of the way down from her shoulder. Painting Instructions: 1. Light Mocha: Base apron. Trace on pocket pattern and lettering pattern; draw separation between top of apron in the front and the back; draw band in back and button. 2. Coral Shell/Believe Pink: (70% Coral Shell/30% Believe Pink mixture) Base face, neck, arms and hands. 3. Foliage Green: Base dress and sleeves. Draw a collar on the top of the dress (refer to photos). 4. Lemonade: Lightly dry brush all over dress, sleeves, and collar. 5. Light Buttermilk: Using dirty dry brush, repeat dry brushing on dress to brighten. 6. Stripes on dress: To draw stripes on dress, use a ruler. Holding ruler upright next to dress, lightly draw a line with a sharpened pencil down the center. Move ruler over about 1/2 away and repeat. Continue penciling lines around the bottom of her dress until it is filled with vertical lines. Draw (by hand) stripes on her sleeves and collar; these do not need to be spaced as far apart as the lines on the bottom of the dress. 7. Bright Green/Foliage Green/Forest Green: (50% Bright Green/50% Foliage Green/Few Drops of Forest Green mixture) Line stripes on dress, sleeves, and collar. Dry brush bottom of dress and beneath apron. Float over dry brushing to strengthen shading; shade around collar, bottom of sleeves, and on dress next to apron. 8. Light Mocha: Base chef s hat on sitting ginger- 2

4 3 bread at bottom of dress. 9. Burlap: Very softly float details on apron around gingerbread, around edges of apron, above waist, above ruffle, around pocket, beneath trim on pocket, below the Ginger Bread lettering, below swirls and leaves, and on ruffles on bottom of apron. Float shading in chef s hat. Float some gathers in the pocket, and around the ruffle of the apron. 10. Honey Brown: Using a sheet float, deepen shading on apron and chef s hat. Base angel s hair, ginger faces in basket, gingerbread cookie in her hand, and gingerbread around bottom of dress. 11. Honey Brown/Sunny Day: Double load brush and stipple all over gingerbread; repeat with dry brushing. Add a touch of Light Buttermilk to the brush, and repeat to brighten highlights. 12. Terra Cotta: Shade around gingerbread and next to icing. 13. Espresso: Shade to deepen shading on gingerbread. 14. Coral Blush: Very, very softly dry brush cheeks on angel. Dry brush cheeks on gingerbread; dry brush on bottom of tummy, bottom of feet and heels, and a bit at the tips of the hands. 15. Dark Chocolate: Float to deepen shading on gingerbread. 16. Dark Chocolate/Soft Black: (Equal mixture) Line Ginger Bread lettering on apron; line swirls and stems on apron. Thin paint with water and wash inside of gingerbread mouths around bottom of dress. 17. Sunny Day: Base star that sitting gingerbread is holding. Base center buttons on standing gingerbread; dot center button on gingerbread in angel s hand. 18. Warm White: Base inside of angel s eyes. Base candy cane and the round peppermint candy. Stipple center of yellow star; float top of star to highlight. 19. Turquoise Blue: Dot top button of gingerbread in angel s hand; base hair band; base top button of the two standing gingerbread at bottom of dress; base bow on the gingerbread man holding the star; thin paint with water and base basket. Very sheerly float around candy cane and peppermint candy. 20. Foliage Green: Dot bottom button on gingerbread in angel s hand; base bottom button on standing gingerbread. Base leaves around the gingerbread lettering. 21. Watermelon Slice: Dot pattern on apron. Line trim around bottom of apron (above the ruffle), top of pocket, and trim at waistline of apron. Float small U strokes below trim to create red trim. Base rose

5 in hair. Base noses on gingerbread, stripes on candy cane, stripes on peppermint candy, and hearts on feet of sitting gingerbread. 22. Coral Blush: Float tops of noses on gingerbreads to highlight; reverse float centers of red stripes on candy cane. Brush mix with a little Sunny Day and shade star. 23. Rookwood Red/Watermelon Slice: Double load brush and shade stripes on candy cane and peppermint candy; shade bottom of noses; shade ends of trim on pocket. 24. Ocean Blue: Shade bow on sitting gingerbread; shade bottom of buttons on gingerbreads. 25. Light Buttermilk: Base icing on gingerbreads; line icing on ginger faces in basket and on gingerbread in angel s hand. 26. Honey Brown: Shade edges of icing on gingerbread. 27. Soft Black: Dot all gingerbread eyes; line smiley eyes on sitting gingerbread wearing the chef s hat; line mouths, tiny lashes, and eyebrows. Dot button holes in buttons. 28. Forest Green: Shade bottom of Foliage Green buttons. Shade bottoms of leaves on apron. Base holly strand that the gingerbread on the right is holding. 29. Lemonade: Very thinly line veins in holly leaves. 30. Watermelon Slice: Dot holly berries between holly leaves. 31. Shading Flesh/Coral Shell/Believe Pink: (Equal mixture) Float to shade on arms next to sleeves, around face, and next to dress. Thinly line between fingers. Carefully base lips. Very thinly line around eyelids. 32. Watermelon Slice: Sheerly wash over lips. 33. Dark Chocolate: Thinly line above eyelids; line a few lashes; line eye brows. 34. Dark Chocolate/Turquoise Blue: (Equal mixture) Dot iris in eyes. 35. Soft Black: Dot pupil in eyes. 36. Dark Chocolate: Thin with water and wash over basket, hair band, and hair, allowing paint to settle into the recesses. Gently remove excess with a dampened cotton swab, leaving some paint in the crevices. Finishing 37. Dazzling Metallics Peacock Pearl: Lightly brush over wings, allowing some of the black from the colored wire to show through. 38. DuraClear Matte Varnish: Apply two coats of varnish to angel and wings, allowing to dry thoroughly between applications. 4
