I wanted it so I could letter it for the Durango & Silverton, as a companion to the Aspen Gold one I did last year. The sun was really bright today, so excuse my exposures, but here's a couple pictures so you can get an idea of how it looks:

5 Page 5 of 11 Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Don, the weathering is mostly different color washes applied and allowed to run down the car naturally. To make the lettering "run" I used a white wash, applied only to the lettering, so it ran down a little, then after it was dry, did a boxcar red wash over that. I finished up with very light dusting from flat black and light earth spray cans, then sealed everything with flat clear coat. Replied on: 27 Jul :34:57 Richard, thank you! In answer to your question, yes, I did weather the gold car, but not as heavily. Generally, I'm in favor of lightly weathered equipment. 8 Page 8 of 11 This last picture was taken on Ted Yarbrough's beautiful layout last month, when I took a weekend trip down South. Great settings like this make any car look extra nice! I've learned SO many things! I agree that both styles of weathering have their place, it could get dull with everything looking just the same. I found pictures on the web of these particular cars and road numbers, so I designed the decals as close to them as possible. The Accucraft cars I did the models from are also a nearly exact match to the prototypes.
