1 The Last Defence Lounge is the Ideal Venue for Your Next Event The Last Defence Lounge, located on the University of Calgary Campus, is available to rent for your event Weddings Engagements Birthdays Retirement Farewell Team Events Celebration of Life Corporate Meetings Any Reason for a Get Together! For your event the lounge features: Full service bar Full service kitchen - served plated dinners, cocktail reception, or casual order-as-you-go Private patio with 50 seats Pool table Big screen with laptop connection for presentations & DVD Big screen & 5 TVs - cable Wireless internet Stereo system with IPod connection or Shaw Galaxie radio Microphone - wireless Podium Fireplace Location 350 MacEwan Student Centre University of Calgary Wheelchair accessibility Ample parking - fees apply U of C Safe Walk & security Public phone line Transit access - LRT and numerous bus routes Party pass - leave your car overnight (pick up 9:00 am) Space accommodation options: Minimum 40 people 70 guests - plate service dinner 90 guests with seating - cocktail reception 181 guests and staff (capacity) - cocktail reception

2 Lounge staff must be on site for the entire duration. Any supplies & decorations you bring into the lounge must be removed by the end of your event. There will be no access to the lounge on the following day. The GSA (Graduate Students Association and The Last Defence Lounge are not responsible for lost or damaged property. The lounge does not have a coat check area Our license (AGLC) states that we must provide food for all private functions when liquor is available. Non members A meal must be supplied Members Food must be obtainable * The entire University of Calgary community are our members, UCID required. All events must end by 12:00 midnight Smoking is permitted on patio only All events must be paid in full: according to the following: Graduate student groups (DGA) - 30 days following the event Member & public groups - at the time of the event Room Set The room will be set to the Lounge group floor plan. You are welcome to arrange the tables and chairs in any way to suit your event. The staff member(s) (fee charged) will help organize the room to your liking. Fire regulations and server service areas will not be allowed to be hindered Decorating Policy Decorations are not permitted on the bar, ceiling, lights, pipes, fireplace or duct system. Banners etc. will be permitted on the windows & walls as long as the adhesive used is easily removable. Ribbon and string will be allowed to hang light weight items from the rafters If you wish to use candles, they must be in a fireproof container, such as a hurricane lamp or cylinder. Free standing or tapered candles are not permitted.

3 Extra clean up charges shall apply for decorations that are left up or if damage has occurred to the facility, including property of LDL or the University of Calgary. Damage Policy Any damages to the facility or any University property by the client, guests, agents or independent contractors of the client during the period that The Last Defence Lounge is booked by the client, will be directly invoiced to the said client. Holding Deposit A holding deposit is required at the time of booking. The holding deposit will be applied to room rental fee on final invoice. All deposits are non-refundable. Should you have to cancel your event, the deposit may be applied toward a new function up to three months from the date the deposit was paid. Graduate student groups (DGA) extended for one year. Any party cancelling 14 days or less from event date will forfeit their deposit. Bar Service Bar service can be accommodated as per below: Hosted bar - the event s entire bar total will appear on your invoice. Cash bar - service is provided per person on a cash basis. You may also combine the two. The host of the party will purchase certain beverages and/or up to a predetermined dollar amount. Any pre-purchased drink tickets will be provided by The Last Defence Lounge and there are no refunds on drink tickets. Beverages are subject to GST. A 18% gratuity charge will be added to all hosted bar tabs. The LDL bar menu is extensive. If there is a product that you would like specifically for your event, we will try to supply it for you. No outside beverages will be permitted and homemade is prohibited. Under AGLC legislation, competitions, contests, draws, giveaways, or promotions which require the purchase and/or the consumption of alcohol are not permitted. The GSA and The Last Defence Lounge encourage responsible consumption of alcohol on the part of its guests. All Lounge staff members must follow AGLC standards and guidelines.

4 We have the right to refuse liquor service to intoxicated patrons. Minors are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages. We will also ensure that those who have been refused service or minors are not acquiring alcohol by other means. Campus security or the police will be informed by the Lounge staff if this is not complied with. Bar service during service of plated dinners will pause, notice will be given. Last call will be given one hour before your event is to end or by 11:00 p.m. Drink tickets: Tickets can be used for pop with free refills and for juice 1 free refill (with use of half ticket) $ Highballs-Draught-House wine-bottle beer (Domestic, Wild Rose & Big Rock) Fees Room rental - $ Reservation deposit - $200.00, will be applied to room rental Damage deposit - Credit card pre approval imprint required (prior to the start of the event) The imprint will be destroyed when all outstanding charges are paid in full and no damages have been been assessed. Service charges: An attendant during your set up & decoration - $20.00 per hour (minimum 3 hours) Table service (plated dinner) minimum 40 people - maximum 70 people $ (2.5 service staff) Reception (cocktail style) minimum 40 people, maximum 150 people $ (2.5 service staff) $ (3 service staff) $ (4 service staff) Extra service staff available at your request for $20.00 per hour (minimum of 4 hours) Helium gas for your balloons (Gas shortage & may not be available) $.55 per balloon - subject to change due to price increases Table cloths & cloth napkins - Quoted through our linin service company

5 Music Fees - Band, DJ or karaoke Socan We are required by law to collect from the client and remit fees on behalf of the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada for the playing of live and recorded copyrighted music. # of Guests Without Dancing With Dancing $20.56 $ $29.56 $59.17 Re:sound We are required by law to collect from the client and remit fees to Re:sound which represents the copyrighted performance work of Performance Artists and Record Companies for the use of music during an event. # of Guests Without Dancing With Dancing $9.25 $ $13.30 $26.63

Commercial processed snacks are permitted with a minimum service charge of $1.00 per person Prices are shown per person, not including 5% GST and 18% gratuity Only one meal option per event, excluding the vegetarian option Special dietary requirements will be accommodated Based on Alberta Health and Food guidelines, any food left over food may not be removed We must be notified of the guaranteed number of guests attending your event five (5) business days prior to the event. If confirmation is not received we will prepare for the last contacted number quoted. The customer will be billed for the last number quoted or number in attendance, whichever is greater.
