1 Hosted by SENC Dear Newf Lovers, Have you ever dreamed about being in the mountains for the holidays with the anticipation of snow and Santa? SENC would like to invite you and your Newf(s) to start off the holidays with its 18 th Annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December the 3 rd in Black Mountain, North Carolina. In keeping with tradition the Southeastern Newfoundland Club wishes to honor and celebrate the Rescued Newfoundland at our Christmas Parade. All proceeds from the event will benefit Rescue. Please join us in celebrating this holiday tradition. Call NOW to reserve your hotel room. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Super 8 Motel in Black Mountain, North Carolina. You MUST book your room by Monday, November 21 st. The rooms are under the name of SENC. SENC s guaranteed rate is $55.32 per night (tax included) plus a $5 per night, per pet, fee charge. If you are bringing two pets you will need to add $10 per day to the $55.32 charge, etc. The hotel is conveniently located on the Parade route as we line up directly across the street and it is only a few shorts blocks away from the quaint downtown area. For those of you who would prefer to get in your car and drive downtown, there is parking available. The hotel offers a continental breakfast. All rooms are provided with a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Upon arriving in Black Mountain at the Super 8 Motel, be sure to pick up your registration packet; there will be a sign at the front desk letting you know which room to go to. Registration packets will be available from 4:00 10:00 PM on Friday. For those arriving late, you can pick up your packet from Patti Sutherland or Deb Crowl on Saturday morning during breakfast at the Information Table at the school. Please remember that your Gentle Giant(s) are invited to ALL activities at the school, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

2 Events will begin on Saturday at 8:30 AM with a pancake-sausage breakfast prepared and served by SENC members. ALL events with the exception of the Parade will be held at the Charles D. Owen High School which is approximately 8 minutes driving distance from the hotel. Saturday s events include Grooming, you and your Newf professionally photographed, games, followed by lunch and a short club meeting at 12:00 Noon. We will line up for the Parade at 3:00 PM across from the hotel. Parade Hint: Make sure you dress yourself and your dog(s) in your best costumes and don t forget to decorate your cart as well. This year s theme is Jingle All the Way. We want to hear you! Per the Black Mountain Chamber of Commerce: Under NO circumstance is any human allowed to dress up like Santa or Mrs. Claus! Saturday evening will begin at 6:00 PM with Blessing of the Newfs, an Italian Buffet Dinner will be served, Raffle drawings, announcement of winners of the Best Newf Costume, Best Puppy Newf Costume, Best Decorated Cart, and Best Human Costume. Please remember all proceeds from the weekend events go to SENC Rescue Inc. Come prepared to bid on some fun, unique and unusual items. Enclosed are Registration forms and details. General Information All activities for the weekend (with the exception of the Parade) will be held at Charles D. Owen High School - 99 Lake Eden Rd., Black Mountain, NC. Checks are to be made payable to SENC. However, if you wish to order the hat and scarf set, you must enclose a separate check made payable to SENC Rescue, Inc. Keep in mind if you have more than one (1) pet in the room it is an additional $5 per day. Long Sleeved Tee Shirts Carolina Blue with this year s Logo on the front. They range in price from $18.00 to $ Deadline for ordering tee-shirts is November 14 th (see attached order form). Fleece Hats and Scarfs They are sold in sets (one hat, one scarf) for $25.00 (see attached order form).

3 Registration Packets Registration Packets will be available from 4 PM to 10 PM on Friday, December 2 nd. Sign will be at the Hotel Registration Desk directing you to the proper room. Friday Evening For those of you arriving Friday afternoon or early evening, Black Mountain is having a Holly Jolly celebration in the town square. Shops and restaurants will be open late. Parade Route The parade route is approximately one mile down the center of town. Wear comfortable shoes. Please dress your Newf in the holiday spirit! Prizes will be awarded to the Best Dressed Newf, Best Dressed Puppy Newf and for those of you using a cart in the Parade - Best Decorated Cart as well as Best Dressed Human Costume. Voting will take place at dinner. Parade Line Up and Boarding of Small Activity Bus We will line up across the Street from the hotel at 3:00 PM. For those Newfs and people who cannot walk the parade route, a small activity bus will be provided. In order to ride the bus the day of the Parade, you must indicate the need where applicable on the Registration Form. Rescued or Adopted Newfs SENC wishes to honour those rescued or adopted Newfs by providing yellow jingle bell scrunchies for them to wear over their collars prior to the parade. Please indicate this on your registration form. Grooming - Grooming will begin at 9:30 am on Saturday, there is a $25.00 fee. Saturday Breakfast We will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturday at 8:30 AM. Games Come ready for you and your Newf to compete in some interesting and challenging games. Leave your dignity at the door and let the games begin! Photos with you and your Newf A professional photographer will be on hand for those interested in capturing your Newf. Saturday Lunch 12:00 PM in conjunction with an SENC General meeting. Blessing of the Newfs Ceremony At 6:00 PM the names of our deceased Newfoundlands that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge will be read along with a short ceremony. If you would like your Newf s name read, please indicate their name on the registration form. Saturday Christmas Dinner - At 6:30 PM Raffle Saturday evening, immediately after dinner, all raffle winners will be drawn. There are many neat, unique and oneof-a-kind items that are being offered, so come ready to bid and compete. In the history of SENC, Please keep in mind that this weekend is dedicated to the Newfoundland Breed
