1 THE GREAT FETE 2018 October 19th Gazette no. 4 4 weeks to go and the GREAT FETE will be upon us! I am sure you have now noticed the flurry of activity around the school. Our Great Fete Advertising Boards have gone up throughout the community this weekend and the excitement is starting to build! Please take a moment to read the newsletters, notices and s that have been coming your way and have a think about how you can help. The great fete committee have been working extremely hard and if we all contribute a little - making sure you donate some time on your allocated stall, prepare something for the Home Produce Stall and/or by donating small items that the stall coordinators are trying to source. We have over 40 stalls to co-ordinate leading up to the fete and on fete day, so if we all contribute it will ensure we achieve a fantastic result for our major school fundraiser. RIDES All the rides for the fete have been locked in and we will once again have fun and exciting rides for the Kids The Star Scream, Cha Cha & Combat Challenger for the older kids, and the Dragon Coaster, Chair O Plane, and Cup & Saucer for the younger kids as well as the Giant Super Slide for all ages! The pre-purchased wristbands will be $25 for Juniors and $35 for Seniors. Height/weight restrictions will be included on the flyer to help you decide the best option for your child. By purchasing a wrist band your child will have access to unlimited rides on fete day from 1-6pm. You may purchase a wrist bands for non Hartwell children as long as you include them on your order form. These forms will be sent home over the next fortnight. Tickets will also be sold on the day of the fete for individual rides at $6 per ride or 4 for $20. RAFFLE TICKETS We have some fantastic prizes on offer for the Great Fete raffle this year including; $1,000 Chadstone Shopping Voucher Apple Ipad Razor Electric Scooter $250 Flight Centre Voucher $250 Meat & Wine Co Dining Voucher Raffle tickets will be sent home with your children later next week in which you will be given a book of raffle tickets to sell or purchase. You have to be in it to win it!!!

2 SILENT & LOUD AUCTION Our Auction team have been working extremely hard out in the community sourcing a fantastic array of items up for grabs including vouchers, hampers and products that will be available for bidding on fete day! We will once again be launching the Silent Auction on-line giving you an opportunity to check out all the items up for grabs. The Auction will go live this Friday October 26 th at midday via the link It s not too late to donate any auction items you may have, please Jacquie jandahilton@gmail.com MARKETING Thank you to our Marketing Coordinator Cath Sheean who has set up our Great Fete 2018 Facebook page. Cath has been doing lots of posts for the fete, please make sure you like and share all posts so we can get the excitement and word out to the wider community. If you are on Facebook and haven t yet liked our page, please do so! SMALL AUCTION BOARDS We have 20 small Forthcoming Fete signs that we need to distribute throughout the local area. If your house is in a fairly prominent area that has alot of traffic, we would appreciate your help by displaying one of these boards. These boards will be available from the school office later next week. HOME PRODUCE The Home Produce team are still desperately in need of your help. They have over 400 jars that you all so kindly donated and at this stage only 50 of them have been filled, so they desperately need to be filled with delicious home produce. The Home Produce stall is a very popular stall that raises a significant amount of money on fete day. Please don t leave it till the last minute, contact Jacquie Richardson on or Jacquie on jacqg@hotmail.com. MYSTERY WINE BOTTLE STALL We are still looking for donations of bottles of wine to sell at our Mystery Bottle Stall. We require any bottles of red, white, sparking or other liquor with a minimum value of $12. If each family donates 1 bottle, we have the opportunity to raise over $5,000 on the day, so have a look in your wine racks, fridges, and cellar and grab a bottle to donate! 3 TRASH & TREASURE If you haven t yet done your spring clean for our Trash and Treasure stall, its not too late! We are still collecting items that you no longer require such as Kitchenware, ornaments, linen or towels, small Bric-a-Brac, pictures/frames and clean toys, games and puzzles are perfect for this stall. Please no furniture or large items and we would appreciate items in good condition that are not damaged. Please call or text Jenny on for collection/drop off times. Enjoy your Spring cleaning and know that your Trash is someone else s Treasure! Thanks. Jenny O Neill. EQUIPMENT Thank you to all the Stall Coordinators who have returned their Equipment Lists. If you are a Stall Holder and you haven t completed your equipment forms please do so asap. At each fete we ask the school community if they are able to lend use various items for the day. We will ensure that any items borrowed are clearly labelled and left in the foyer outside the canteen at the end of the day. If you have a gas burner, please call me asap on Thanks Nicole CURRY STALL We are still trying to source 6 large rice cookers for the Curry Stall. Parents were very forthcoming with this last fete. The rice cookers need to be at the canteen by 4:30pm on the day of the fete. Please contact me on or krisgatt888@gmail.com if you have a rice cooker. Thanks Kristine & Robyn CAKE STALL Calling on all Bakers!!!! A cake pack including paper plates, ribbons, tags & cellophane will be sent home to each family in early November. So it s time to start thinking about what you could bake for this wonderful and popular stall. Items that sell really well include cakes (iced or uniced), fudge, yoyo s, meringues, ginger bread men and cup cakes to name a few. You may have a family favourite recipe you could bake and if you don t feel you can, maybe

4 you could outsource another family member who is a dab hand at baking and could whip up a couple of plates of something for the stall. So look out for the cake packs that will come home with the eldest child in each family, and return them filled with some delicious treats on the Friday afternoon or Saturday morning of the fete. We will soon be holding cake stall preparation sessions where we will be putting together the cake packs for distribution. These dates and times will be in next weeks newsletter, so please help in assisting us. By now you should have been given a complete roster from the Class Reps with your allocated class. The list is included in the gazette below. There will be a final meeting for all Stall Coordinators on Wednesday October 31st in the teachers lounge. This meeting will be to discuss set up on the day, picking up of cash floats and any final questions you might have.
