2 FARE s FOOD ALLERGY HEROES WALK Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) s Food Allergy Heroes Walk celebrates the individuals, families and communities who work together to help make life healthy and happy for individuals who live with food allergies and the potential of life-threatening anaphylaxis. As a local supporter of a FARE Walk in your community, your efforts will make a significant impact by helping to grow awareness and further our education, research and advocacy efforts. Your company will be a true hero to the food allergy community! FOOD ALLERGY ESSENTIALS Approximately 15 million people in the United States have food allergies. Food allergy now affects 1 in 13 children, or roughly two in every classroom. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that the prevalence of food allergy has increased among children by 50% over the past 20 years. Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. Food allergies can be life threatening and there is no cure. Encourage and fund research in both industry and academia that promises new therapies to improve the allergic condition. 5 SUPER FACTS ABOUT FARE S FOOD ALLERGY HEROES WALK In 2017 we ll have 39 Walks across the country and host tens of thousands of food allergy heroes who are raising money and awareness to support FARE s mission to improve the quality of life and health for those living with food allergy and to provide HOPE through the promise of new treatments! Our Walks are family-focused and offer a safe, spirited day of fun activities for all ages. There are multiple ways your company can activate at the Walk and engage with attendees. Our attendees are loyal, brand-conscious consumers who place a high priority on identifying trustworthy, allergen-friendly products that they can adopt into their lives and routines.
