3 WHO IS MAX? A CHOCOLATE FAIRY TALE FROM LUCERNE Once upon a time, there was a young boy whose mouth often bore telltale chocolate smudges. Meet Max. When Max König was a little boy, he had to work hard to keep up with the other children. He has more than others, for he was born with an additional chromosome. And though that renders his life difficult at times, Max embodies what his family seeks to stand for with their chocolate: honesty and contentment. On 27 September 2009, the boy s father made a family dream come true. That day saw the opening of «Max Chocolatier» in Lucerne, in the heart of Switzerland. Mixing a passion for chocolate with a pantry full of natural ingredients, a team of four chocolate-making magicians and a file of secret recipes, Max Chocolatier set about turning sweet treats into heart-melting experiences.
