8 Florida VPK Submission Professional Development and Implementation Plan Scholastic is pleased to present the following Professional Development and Implementation Plan as a part of the BIG DAY for PreK submission for the Florida VPK review process. The professional development and implementation support that will be provided as a part of the adoption and purchase of BIG DAY for PreK is outlined in this document. BIG DAY for PreK includes in person, program embedded, and online implementation training, as well as training support materials developed to ensure a successful start up and on going implementation. Scholastic s BIG DAY for PreK Professional Development and Implementation Plan is a comprehensive plan designed to ensure fidelity of implementation, as well as foster a culture of success that is sustainable. This includes ongoing and capacity building support for your school leadership, classroom teachers, and paraprofessionals. Scholastic has more than fifteen years experience in delivering, scaling, and sustaining professional development in large scale implementations across the country. Our service team is comprised of former literacy, math, early childhood and other content area specialists, coaches, as well as school and district leaders. This nationwide cadre of professionals allows us to create teams with combined expertise to build capacity quickly and provide sustainable professional development. Implementation teams include personnel for project management, delivery of training for teachers and leadership, technical support, data analysis, and community and family engagement. Scholastic s commitment includes an effective program launch to lay the foundation for success by offering an Implementation Planning Meeting with stakeholders at no cost. This meeting is optional, but is suggested as a means to focus conversation on critical components for success including a Partnership Summary and Agreement, Phases of Implementation, Implementation Metrics (how many classes, teachers, students, etc), and an Implementation Calendar. To ensure access for all stakeholders, the following RECOMMENDED and OPTIONAL services will be provided upon request, after program purchase, as determined by the leadership. 8

Certificate of attendance provided at completion of training. *A modified three-hour training may be available, for small groups. - BIG DAY for PreK Implementation Guide Provided to all IN PERSON participants - Online Professional Handbook: A Guide for Planning and Managing Your PreK Classroom Print version is included in Teacher s Welcome Kit and a digital version is available online. - Online Professional Development Course: Developing Foundations of Early Childhood Success Self-paced course, with printable certificate available at end of course. Please note, surveys indicated a range of five to 12 weeks on average, to complete. The course is accessible 24/7 through the Big Day online Teacher Space. OPTIONAL Continuing Professional Development and Capacity Building - Follow Up Program Implementation Training IN PERSON - New Teacher Implementation Training (after initial start up) IN PERSON - Best Practices in PreKindergarten Webinars Our National Early Childhood/Primary Consultants will lead the team to provide the BIG DAY for PreK implementation service for Florida VPK.
