1 PERMIT TO ALLOW MINOR USE OF AN AGVET CHEMICAL PRODUCT FOR THE CONTROL OF FRUIT FLY WITH VARIOUS PRODUCTS, IN VARIOUS SITUATIONS IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA AS SPECIFIED PERMIT NUMBER PER13858 This permit is issued to the Permit Holder in response to an application granted by the APVMA under section 112 of the Agvet Codes of South Australia only. This permit allows a person, as stipulated below, to use the products in the manner specified in this permit (in the relevant attachment) in South Australia only. This permit also allows any person to claim that the products can be used in the manner specified in this permit. NOTE: This permit replaces cancelled permit PER13159, excluding some uses with products containing fenthion. 2 DIRECTIONS OF USE Persons acting to control fruit fly must refer to the relevant attachment: Attachment 1 Fenthion (Lebaycid) post harvest treatment of specified fruits and vegetables Attachment 2 Maldison dusting of potentially infested fruit prior to disposal Attachment 3 Fenthion (Lebaycid) for use on host trees/plants Attachment 4 Chlorpyrifos treatment of soil under canopy of host trees/plants Use must be undertaken in accordance with ALL the Details (Products, Directions for use, Critical use comments etc.) and Additional Conditions of that Attachment. 3 Attachment 1 Fenthion (Lebaycid) post harvest treatment of specified fruits and vegetables LEBAYCID INSECTICIDE SPRAY Containing: 550 g/l FENTHION as their only active constituent. Directions for Use: Post-harvest Treatment CROP PEST RATE WHP CRITICAL COMMENTS Tropical and Fruit flies 75 ml/100 L Nil DO NOT use fenthion on any sub-tropical (Quarantine (postharvest watermelons cucurbits other than melons and fruits (inedible treatment only) peel) 1, treatment Dip fruit and completely Melons and only) submerge for 1 minute. Unless otherwise stated in this permit, the use of the product must be in accordance with instructions on its label. PERSONS who wish to prepare for use and/or use the products for the purposes specified in this permit must read, or have read to them, the permit particularly the information included in DETAILS OF PERMIT and CONDITIONS OF PERMIT. 1 Tropical and sub-tropical fruits (inedible peel) include avocado, banana, breadfruit, custard apple, durian, feijoa, jackfruit, lychee (litchi), longan, mango, mangosteen, pawpaw, passionfruit,, pineapple, pomegranate, rambutan, sapodilla, sapote, tamarind and the inedible peel varieties ONLY of guava, kiwi fruit and persimmon. 4 Attachment 2 Maldison dusting of potentially infested fruit prior to disposal DAVID GRAYS POULTRY DUST Containing: 20 g/kg MALDISON as their only active constituent. Directions for Use: Commodities Pest Rate POTENTIALLY INFESTED FRUIT FLY FLIES, 200g / 10Kg Bag of FRUIT COLLECTED/ PICKED MAGGOTS OR PUPAE Fruit DURING FRUIT FLY OUTBREAK OR PREVENTION/ ERADICATION PROGRAM Critical Use Comments: Use provided scoop to pour product into each bag of fruit prior to tying with string and placing in disposal bin. Additional Conditions: THIS PERMIT provides for the use of a product in a manner other than specified on the approved label of the product. Unless otherwise stated in this permit, the use of the product must be in accordance with instructions on its label. PERSONS who wish to prepare for use and/or use products for the purposes specified in this permit must read, or have read to them, the details and conditions of this permit. Disposal of treated fruit: Treated fruit must not be supplied to or otherwise made available for human or animal consumption. 5 Attachment 3 LEBAYCID INSECTICIDE SPRAY Containing: 550 g/l FENTHION as their only active constituent. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Tree and Vine Crops RATE In the following table, all rates given are for dilute spraying. For concentrate spraying, refer to the Application section. CROP PEST RATE WHP Apples, Pears Mediterranean fruit fly CRITICAL COMMENTS For all uses in this table: Apply by dilute or concentrate spraying equipment. Apply the same total amount of product to the target crop whether applying this product by dilute or concentrate spraying methods. For concentrate spraying, DO NOT use at rates greater than 5 times the dilute spraying rate. 150mL/100 L 28 days Apply full cover sprays at 7-14 day intervals until 4 weeks before picking commences. Grapes 75mL/100 L 21 days Apply when pest is present, as a thorough cover spray 6 weeks and 4 weeks prior to harvest. Pawpaws (Papaya) Persimmons (inedible peel varieties ONLY) Stone fruit except Cherries 75mL/100L 14 days Apply a thorough cover spray as insect populations indicate. 75mL/100L 7 days Thorough spray coverage of fruit is essential. Apply at 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1 week before the expected start of harvest. See Crop Safety and Compatibility. DO NOT use on edible peel varieties 75mL/100L 21 days Spray fruit thoroughly. Apply full cover sprays at 7 to 14 day intervals until 3 weeks before picking commences. DO NOT apply more than 3 sprays per season Tropical and sub-tropical fruits (inedible peel) 2 75mL/100L 7 days (except guavas & pawpaws 14 days) Thorough spray coverage of fruit is essential. 7 Attachment 4 Chlorpyrifos treatment of soil under canopy of host trees/plants LORSBAN 500 EC INSECTICIDE Containing: 500 g/l CHLORPYRIFOS as their only active constituent. Directions for Use: Crop Pest Rate Soil under canopy of fruit fly hosts when maggots or fruit flies are found during an outbreak; i.e. Citrus, Stone Fruit, Apple, Pear, Quince, Loquat, Tomato, Capsicum, Grape, tropical & Sub tropical varieties. Fruit fly pupae or larvae. 176 ml/100 L of water. Critical Use Comments: Obtain the property owner/resident consent prior to any application. Pick up and bag all fallen fruit before the application of the chemical. DO NOT spray where vision is obscured, such as over fences and other obstructions. DO NOT treat where there is a risk of pets, livestock or children accessing the treated area. DO NOT allow drift into fish ponds, aviaries, pet food or water containers. Allow 2 to 3 litres of solution per square metre of ground depending on soil conditions. Use appropriate application equipment to avoid direct contact of spray solution with foliage or fruit. Spray ground under infested trees from the trunk to the outer perimeter of the foliage. Withholding Period: DO NOT harvest any fruit or flowers for 14 days after application. DO NOT eat any fruit from treated trees for 14 days after application. Additional Conditions: This permit provides for the use of a product in a manner other than specified on the approved label of the product. Unless otherwise stated in this permit, the use of the product must be in accordance with instructions on its label.
