This is a really lovely effort for its level and well worth a look. Top value. 87 Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Savigny-Les-Beaune $79 per bottle An attractively fresh nose combines pungently earthy and again slightly somber aromas of mostly dark currant and plum. The utterly delicious middle weight flavors possess a seductive texture while offering good length on the dusty and slightly rustic finale. This vibrant effort should drink well young if desired Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Volnay $109 per bottle This too is aromatically cool and restrained with its admirably pure nose of dark currant and floral aromas. The lacy and beautifully well-detailed flavors exhibit a subtle touch of minerality that is more apparent on the dusty and ever-so-mildly austere finale Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Morey Saint-Denis $125 per bottle There is no reductive funk present here as the super-fresh nose of both red and dark berries is nuanced by hints of earth, lavender and sandalwood. There is good richness but also fine detail to the lightly stony and utterly delicious middle weight flavors that culminate in a clean, polished and ever-so-mildly austere finale. Lovely. Top Value Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Gevrey Chambertin $125 per bottle Here the highly restrained nose is a good deal more deeply pitched with its very Gevrey-like nose of earth and sauvage-inflected dark currant aromas. There is excellent volume and solid mid-palate density to the well-delineated middle weight flavors that are less fine and mineral-driven than those of the Etelois but there is better overall depth as well as a bit more underlying material. The delicious, intense and pungently mineral-driven middle weight flavors possess excellent definition while delivering fine length on the balanced and saline finish. This too offers excellent quality for its level Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Vosne Romanee $160 per bottle An overtly floral nose combines notes of spice and sandalwood with those of black pinot fruit. The sleek, delicious and seductively textured medium weight flavors possess very fine depth on the long and wellbalanced finale. This is really quite stylish and overall, this is an excellent Vosne villages Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound The Reds 1er Cru and Grand Cru 2014 Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru Hauts Jarrons $99 per bottle A discreet if not invisible application of wood easily allows the markedly fresh aromas of black cherry, spice, earth and plum to shine. There is fine volume and lovely mid-palate concentration to the tautly muscular middle weight flavors that possess a subtle minerality on the dusty, delicious and well-balanced finale. This is really quite pretty and should also drink well young but age well too over the medium-term Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Blagny 1er Cru La Piece Sous Le Bois $135 per bottle A cool, pure and surprisingly sauvage-inflected nose also displays plenty of forest floor and humus elements on the dark berry fruit scents. There is good punch to the sleek, refined and intense middle weight flavors that exhibit an attractive salinity on the ever-so-mildly austere finale Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Pitures Dessus $160 per bottle Here the much more floral-inflected nose offers up equally cool and restrained aromas of both red and dark currant, rose petal and tea nuances. There is a bit more volume and certainly more muscle to the delineated medium-bodied flavors that display plenty of minerality on the dusty, serious, linear and moderately austere finale. This will require up to a decade of cellar time to arrive at its full maturity Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Clos Cave des Ducs $190 per bottle There is a lovely sense of vibrancy to the energetic and notably finer middle weight flavors where the supporting tannins are markedly fine, all wrapped in an almost delicate, saline, balanced and linear finale. 3 Pty Ltd ABN Morey Saint-Denis 1er Cru Monts Luisants $190 per bottle There is a terrific sense of verve to the medium weight flavors that also display excellent definition and minerality on the equally saline and refreshing finish. This is a wine that really feels alive in the mouth though the supporting structure is sufficiently firm that it will need a few years to shed its youthful austerity Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru La Perriere $205 per bottle There is a velvety mouth feel to the relatively voluminous flavors that exude a palate coating dry extract that helps to buffer the firm but fine tannins on the lightly mineral-inflected, balanced and admirably long finish. I very much like the complexity though like the Champeaux, this beautiful effort is going to require at least a few years of patience first Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses $1,250 per magnum Like the Bonnes Mares this is aromatically quite cool and restrained with its ultra-floral inflected nose that includes notes of lilac, violet, rose and lavender along with plenty of spice nuances. The spice elements can also be found on the highly seductive middle weight flavors that possess a lovely minerality that adds lift to the moderately firm and strikingly well-balanced finale. In the same fashion as the Clos St. Denis this is so harmonious that it could be enjoyed young even in magnum format if desired. Don t miss! Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru $520 per bottle This is perhaps the most complex wine in the entire range and along with the Amoureuses perhaps the most refined as well as the silky middle weight flavors simply glide across the palate while delivering flat out superb length on the beautifully balanced finale, indeed this could aptly be described as Zen-like in its unmatched sense of harmony. While the supporting structure is firm this is already so pretty and en forme that it could actually be enjoyed on the younger side. Don t miss! Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru $1,100 per magnum A cool, restrained and equally well-layered nose offers up a pretty mix of red currant, wild dark berries, cassis, spice and violet aromas. There is excellent richness to the intense big-bodied flavors that brim with mouth coating dry extract on the long, serious, balanced and saline-suffused finish. This is definitely an imposingly scaled and powerful effort yet it does not lack for a certain refinement. Don t miss! Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound

There is excellent mid-palate density to the mouth coating and vibrant middle weight flavors that deliver ample minerality on the slightly austere and highly persistent finale. This is a very fine and ageworthy Meursault villages and worth considering Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Puligny Montrachet $145 per bottle There is good freshness and verve to the solidly well-concentrated and seductively textured flavors that exhibit an appealing minerality on the well-balanced and persistent finale. This isn't as complex or powerful as the Chassagne but the natural class of Puligny is very much in evidence Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Baudines $179 per bottle A slightly cooler and more elegant nose offers up notes of lemon rind, green apple, rose petal and a whisper of petrol. There is terrific intensity and fine volume to the stony middle weight flavors that also display a hint of bitter lemon on the youthfully austere finale. Textbook Baudines Points/Drink Allen Meadows, Burghound 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Tete du Clos $220 per bottle There is excellent freshness and complexity to the rich, round and solidly concentrated flavors that possess a taut muscularity before concluding in a noticeably dry, clean and impressively persistent if youthfully austere finish.
