Chosen by an expert industry panel, Ely Bar & Brasserie emerged victorious from hundreds of entries to win the Gilbey s of Ireland Wine Award at the gala event in The Four Seasons Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Ely Bar & Brasserie manager Leo Vasileiou accepted the award from Terry Pennington, commercial director of wine supplier Gilbey s of Ireland in front of 300 members of the bar trade. Ely Bar & Brasserie was highlighted for its exceptional wine service, staff knowledge and its sourcing of over 400 wines from around the world. Commenting on the win, Nigel Tynan, editor of Licensing World and chairman of the Bar Awards, said Ely Bar & Brasserie demonstrates real commitment to excellent wine service, their wines are meticulously sourced in response to consumer demand and changing trends and friendly staff are eager to help every wine lover from connoisseur to novice.

2 OVERALL WINNER The awards culminated with The Elm Tree in Glounthaune, Co Cork, winning the top prize when it was named Ireland s number one pub. Situated just 10 minutes from Cork city, The Elm Tree was named Licensing World Bar of the Year ABOUT BAR AWARDS All premises that enter the Licensing World Bar Awards are visited by an expert panel of judges. Visits take place during April and May. Each entry is assessed on a lengthy series of relevant criteria including welcome, customer service, ambience, staff training, hygiene, décor, product range and customer appeal.
