FULFILL 50WG Insecticide: Technical Information Mode of Action Activity Profile Difenoconazole, the active ingredient in Inspire, is a Group 3 (DMI) fungicide that provides high level activity at low use rates. It controls various pathogens belonging to the ascomycete, basidiomycete and deuteromycete classes of fungi including leaf spots, powdery mildew, and scab. Inspire stops the production of ergosterol, a primary component in the structure and function of fungal cell membranes. As a result, Inspire prevents the growth of the hyphal "threads" that invade the tissue of plants. Inspire offers both preventative and early curative protection. Translaminar Movement Inspire is unique among the triazole fungicides in that it exhibits very little systemic movement. Instead it is absorbed rapidly by the leaf and moves quickly from one side of the leaf to the other, protecting both leaf surfaces and pr oviding excellent rainfastness. Once absorbed, Inspire provides both contact and residual protection against disease. Resistance Management INSPIRE Fungicide is in the Group 3 class fungicides. The mode of action of INSPIRE Fungicide is as a demethylation inhibitor of sterol biosynthesis (DMI) which disrupts membrane synthesis by blocking demethylation. Fungal pathogens can develop resistance to products with the same mode of action when used repeatedly. Because resistance development cannot be predicted, use of this product should conform to resistance management strategies established for the crop and use area. INSPIRE Fungicide should not be alternated or tank mixed with any fungicide to which resistance has already developed. For resistance management, do not apply to plants grown for transplanting purposes.
