Formal Turkey Bowtie Pasta with and Shrimp and a Green Salad with Home withmade fruit side Vinaigrette (for 2) 1 In a small to medium sauce pan, bring 1 cup of chicken broth and 1/2 cup white rice to a boil. Once boiling, stir, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes until rice is tender then take off heat and set aside until step 7. 3 2 While the rice is cooking, wash the vegetables then prepare them by chopping the 1 stalk of celery into 1/4 pieces, julienne 1/2 red onion into 3/4 strips, dice the green bell pepper into 3/4 squares and quarter and cut 1/2 zucchini into 1/2 to 3/4 inch pieces. 4 Prepare the protein by removing the shells from the shrimp and pulling gently on the shrimp tail until it comes off. Discard both shells and tails. Slice the smoked turkey sausage link on the bias into 1/2 thick slices. 5 In the pot used to cook the shrimp, increase heat to mediumhigh heat and add 1/2 Tbsp olive oil, the sliced smoked turkey sausage and julienned onion and sauté until onions are al dente and sausage is lightly browned. Add chopped celery, diced pepper and zucchini. Sauté these for 5-7 minutes until they start to brown and soften, stir frequently. 7 6 8 Add cooked white rice and shrimp and combine all ingredients together. Simmer on medium low to medium heat for 7-10 minutes, stirring frequently. Heat 1 Tbsp butter in a medium to large stockpot. Add 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder to butter. Once melted, sauté shrimp in garlic butter mixture until pink, then remove shrimp from pot and set aside, leave any remaining butter garlic mix in the pot. Leave pot on burner for next step. When vegetables are al dente, reduce heat to medium and add 1 3/4 cup crushed tomatoes, 2 bay leaves and 1/2 to 1 tsp creole seasoning depending on heat preference. This will add flavor as well as a bit of heat, use 1/2 tsp for mild, 1 tsp for spicy. If you reduce the seasoning, add salt and pepper to taste to make up the difference. Stir all ingredients. While jambalaya is simmering wash and slice your fresh fruit side. When jambalaya is done, remove the bay leaves and serve. Enjoy your Louisiana inspired Delicious Family Dinner!
