+10% CHINESE BUYERS With 17,500 buyers, the number of visitors was up 2% on 2016. There was a marked increase in the number of Chinese visitors (+10%), meeting exhibitors expectations. A combination of the exponential growth in wine consumption in China (expected to reach USD23 billion in five years time*), the knowledge of the key players coupled with major promotional campaigns succeeded in attracting a very high calibre of visitors. Vinexpo Hong Kong welcomed countries experiencing strong growth, such as Australia, Vietnam and Malaysia. The country with the second highest number of visitors was Hong Kong, confirming its important position as a mature market and an Asian hub. The visitor profile justifies the organisers dedication to remain a 'trade only' show, with targeted buyers: 70% of visitors were either importers, wholesalers or distributors, and 34% were CEOs or Managing Directors of their companies. *Source: VINEXPO/IWSR research study TOP VISITING COUNTRIES 7,124 China 322 5,745 Hong Kong 305 725 Taïwan 287 398 South Korea 280 379 Australia 243 Singapore Japan Thailand Vietnam Malaysia VISITOR PROFILES AN EVENT FOR DECISION-MAKERS 19% Managing Director 19% Sales Manager Importer 51% 70% Wholesaler / Distributor 19% Off trade On trade Other Media E-commerce 13% 9% 3.5% 2.3% 2.2% 15% President - Owner 8% Purchasing Manager 4% Import Manager Report Vinexpo Hong Kong 2018 p 4
