This 2016 calendar is dedicated to our love of eating in season. We celebrate the variety of local food which inspires the entire Great Performances family. These delicious ingredients are incorporated into menus at our cafes located throughout the city as well as at our catered events. The photography in the calendar is a collection of years of farmers market finds by Great Performances CEO, Liz Neumark. The story behind what is on our plates and where it comes from, is one we want to share. Nothing tastes like food lovingly grown and served at its peak. Enjoy! This Calendar was produced by Great Performances. Here s our Story: With roots embedded in New York City, Great Performances has grown from a waitress service employing women in the arts in 1980 to a multi-faceted catering and event planning company today, serving the social, political, not-for-profit and business worlds. You can find us at The Apollo Theater, Asia Society, BAM, Brooklyn Museum, Caramoor, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Museum of the City of New York, and Wave Hill. We manage the Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel. We manage the Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel, and at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT, we operate cafés and produce events. We are a mission-driven company committed to innovation, collaborative partnerships, diversity, sustainability, teamwork and community. It is no wonder that in 2006 we bought 60 acres in Kinderhook, NY to establish Katchkie Farm. We offer a unique 100 Mile Menu which focuses on local growers and artisanal producers, further highlighting the bounty within our region. Our proudest accomplishment is giving back; sharing our harvest and good fortune with our neighbors. In addition to supporting anti-hunger programs and other food justice initiatives, we launched The Sylvia Center, a non-profit organization addressing issues in children s health with hands-on experiences growing and cooking healthy food. The Sylvia Center inspires young people to learn what fresh food is, how delicious it tastes, and how to prepare it themselves and for their families. Life Happens Around Food.
