CONNECTION David Novak and Christina Aguilera Honored for World Hunger Relief Efforts Above, L to R: Christina Aguilera, Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, and David Novak, President YUM! I m pleased to inform you that David was recognized by the United Nations World Food Program with its top annual humanitarian award for our World Hunger Relief efforts at the U.S. State Department yesterday. Also recognized was Christina Aguilera, our global ambassador for World Hunger Relief. Past recipients of this prestigious award include Bill Gates, Howard Buffett and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Secretary Clinton participated in the ceremony. Yum! Brands was recognized for raising $115 million over the past 5 years, feeding more than 460 million starving women and children, primarily in third world countries. The U.N. was equally impressed with our awareness program and tremendous employee volunteerism. David accepted this award on behalf of all Yum! employees and franchisees, and I thought you d like to know of this important recognition. Jonathan Blum, SVP, Chief Public Affairs and Global Nutrition Officer Vol. 15 No. 10 October 2012 Mo Money Massaponax It is always a pleasure to compliment your crew when they go above and beyond to care for our guests here in Massaponax, Fredericksburg, VA. Our evening crew did an awesome job in doing a $1537.72 hour in sales. $700.00 of that were two piece meals for a football team that came on four buses. The rest was done by caring for our regular customers. A great big kudos goes to the team of Brandon Taylor, Layton Banks, Shelby Green our front line CSWs, Susie Carneal, Sierra Braun, Stephanie Stephen, drive thru and back line packers, and cooks Mitch Stahlman and Herman Evans. Prepper was Brandy Garrett, and manager on duty Sherry Wright. What a tremendous job this team did this hour and the whole night! JRN CONNECTION October 2012 Vol. 15, No. 10 3 Bragging on Rebecca Employee Meeting Twist Left to right Jenna Carter, Tiffany Trobaugh. Background Left to right Jaleesa Mayes, Chelsea Kelly. Front Right General Manager Betty Kelley I just wanted to brag a little on my daughter, Rebecca Cantu (inside yellow circle). She started kindergarten this year and has already made student of the month!!! I am so proud of her and wanted to let every body know! Christy Cantu, Shelbyville, TN Father of Funk KFC Fan On October 2 nd the Old Fort Pkwy., Murfreesboro, TN KFC had a special drivethru customer, R&B, Rock, and Gospel star, Little Richard. He has also visited our Tullahoma, TN store in the past. His hits included Tutti Frutti, Good Golly Miss Molly, and Long Tall Sally. Ms. Betty ( Kelley, RGM Cookeville, TN) knows how to have an employee meeting. She has made this a fun and interactive invent. Here she and employees are "Having Fun" and learning all at the same time. Thank you Betty for always being creative and having fun with your team. This is awesome.!!!!!!!!!! Debbie Hunter, Area Manager Takes 1 to Know 1 The only person to guess who the baby was supposed to be in last month s issue was Buddy May himself. This is surprising since the resemblance is uncanny, especially around the eyes and goatee area. Do you have a friend you d like to embarrass? We d like to help, just make sure they ll still be friendly if it s published.

JRN CONNECTION January 2011 Vol. 14, No. 1 4 Collected and written by Linde Ellerby A drive-thru fan of the Humboldt, TN KFC stated that the improvements are very noticeable and encourages the management and employees to keep up the good work and the speed of service. The Strawberry PL. KFC located in Knoxville, TN had a dine-in guest say, she received great customer service, the buffet tasted great and it was well stocked. I enjoyed the Chicken Little sandwiches, the staff was nice, and the location had a good health score, reports a dine-in visitor of the Harding Place, Nashville, TN KFC unit. The Bell Road, Nashville, TN store had a drive-thru patron to say a male cashier working on September 20, 2012 was very courteous and professional. Also at the Bell Road, Nashville, TN store a carry out guest said the manager named Roger is very nice and has great customer service skills. Again, at the Bell Road, Nashville, TN store a drive-thru visitor commended Cordell Williams for being very polite and for providing great and fast customer service. I had dinner at KFC # 46 in Crossville, TN with my family on Thursday, September 20 th. My dad has a hard time walking without holding on to something and an employee named Aaron observed this and came around from behind the counter and offered to carry his tray to the table. That was extremely kind of him. You rarely see people who do simple acts of kindness like he did. I just wanted to say thank you, Aaron, you done a good thing, writes a very satisfied customer of the Crossville, TN KFC. The Gatlinburg, TN location had a drivethru guest to report that Angeline provides great customer service and she even offered to give my dog some water. Lanell, a cashier at the Lewisburg, TN Kentucky Fried Chicken made my visit a great experience, states a satisfied visitor. A dine-in guest of the Lake City, TN KFC complimented Darin for being very friendly and helpful. The guest also said the food was great and the crew provided great service. The Speedway KFC in Daytona Beach, FL received a compliment from a dine-in guest who was very appreciative of the manager providing fresh food on the buffet even though it was near closing. The place was clean, the food and staff were great! writes a dine-in guest of the Lockwood, Sarasota, FL KFC. The Mobile Hwy Pensacola, FL KFC facility was clean. The managers and staff provide great customer service, writes a dine-in guest. A manager named Paul was extremely nice and helpful, and the chicken was great, writes a carry out customer of the Gatlinburg, TN KFC store. I was provided with courteous, friendly, and outgoing customer service from a male manager at the Big Franklin, TN KFC, writes a dine-in guest. Thanks to Renita and Shelby for being very helpful and polite, commented a carry out customer of the Montgomery, AL KFC store. The Assistant Manager, Scott provides great customer service, states a dine-in guest of the Abingdon, VA KFC. It seems that in most fast-food places these days, the customer service is terrible. They act like they just doing a job and couldn t care less if you come there or not; but this female employee of the Fort Valley, GA restaurant is awesome. I wish I could remember her name because she deserves a raise. I live in Warner Robins and decided to pick up KFC on my way to visit my parents in Fort Valley. From the time we walked in the door until the time we walked out the experience was great. I left feeling like we were friends. My friend and I discussed how awesome this lady was and we both agreed that it would be worth the twenty minute drive to travel there again. We ordered a liver meal and a potato bowl and they were delicious! writes a very happy carry out customer. A dine-in guest of the Terre Haute, Indiana store located on US 41 South commended the manager for working very hard and for providing the order quickly.

The ambulance soon arrived and the customer was given medical attention. The first responders said Denise s quick action had been critical. JRN CONNECTION January 2011 Vol. 14, No. 1 6 Above, the winner of the October Po Boy Cruise In, Ron Kelso of Theodore, AL with his 1970 Chevrolet, Chevelle On Saturday, October 6, 2012, the Tillmans Corner, Mobile, AL KFC cosponsored Po Boy Cruise In. Set up began at noon and the official start was 5 PM. When we finished up, 93 cars were on our lot with a value exceeding 3 million dollars. They were spread out across the parking lot for spectators to view for free. JoJo Johnson was the other co-sponsor and official DJ for the event. He played 50 s and early 60 s rock n roll while the families wandered the lot. Car owners were thrilled to talk to everyone about their cars and many pictures were taken by all. RGM Kaye Weaver and her team planned and prepped for this for a month before. Advertising was on the radio, at a similar event in MS the week before, and in the weekend newspapers for 4 weeks before the event. Team member Jim Haynes Jr. created the advertising we put on our entrance doors, and then took photos of the participants and their cars. The winning car and owner can be found on www.bad-to-thebone.com. We will be doing this on every first Saturday of every month. Three unknown judges will chose the top three cars and the winner will have their car pictured in the restaurant for everyone to see. Our next Po Boy Cruise In will be Saturday, November 3, 2012. Great job to Kaye and her team members for providing great food and fun for everyone that attended! George Embling, Area Manager Pictured Right: JoJo Johnson, co-sponsor and DJ of the Po Boy Cruise In

JRN CONNECTION January 2011 Vol. 14, No. 1 7 The Batmobile stopped at the Big Franklin, TN KFC recently. Here is an article and some photos by the builder/owner. Chris Woodside My Batmobile is one of about 13 known vintage replicas originally sold by Bob Butts of Fantasy Cars Ranch in El Cajon California after the TV show. This is an unbuilt example I found some 8 years ago when I decided to build it to be as high-end as possible in tribute to the Barris-built #1 Original TV Batmobile. As a GM proponent, I built my replica on a '76 Pontiac Catalina Wagon Chassis with fully working "bat implements" to include a functional chain-cutter blade that ejects thru the front bumper as well as a functional afterburner that will emit a 3ft frame (you'd be amazed how that solves any tailgating issues). After 8 years of ownership I have strived largely to do 2 things with this car: 1: Build this in high quality detail to match the #1 Barris-built TV Batmobile 2: Make this iconic car accessible and available to the public, who have been enamored with this car, to see it up close and personal for all the neat "Bat Jazz" that you can never see enough of. Frankly, most of these are in private collections and rarely driven, so my quest from the start was to make it streetable, and accessible for the public to see and enjoy.

JRN CONNECTION January 2011 Vol. 14, No. 1 8 From Left To Right in front: Carmen Rivera, Stacy Ferguson, Brenda Torres, Gicelia Gonzalez, L to R in back: Jose Velasquez, Silvia Rainer, and Yaile Gonzalez Valdiva Cont. page 9 There is nothing as rewarding as helping those in our community! It is even better when we are helping the men and women who serve our country and fight for us each and every day. KFC pulled our catering forces together on Saturday, October 20 th, to provide free catering to 250 Middle TN National Guard Members at their facility in Smyrna. The LaVergne, TN team, pictured above and managed by Stacy Ferguson, prepared all the food starting at 5am on Saturday. Their store was so clean and neat, and the workers were very nice and willing to help with this event. JRN CONNECTION January 2011 Vol. 14, No. 1 9 Serving, continued from page 8 Also, Heather Rulison, store manager, Donnie, and Libby Allen came from our Harding Place store to help deliver and serve the food. The Harding Place store helps out The Hope Lodge four times a year to benefit cancer patients in their area by providing them meals. They are more than willing to help out in the community. Our local Columbia, TN store had Christy Stevenson present to help deliver and serve as well. Stacy Ferguson, store manager at LaVergne, helped serve the food too. As you can see, the Guard Members were very thankful for the food and services we offered for them. They love KFC! Christy Stevenson, JRN KFC Catering Colonelism

It was resting on the front of the State Bank building at the JRN home office in Columbia, TN. Other common names for the Black Witch moth are: La Sorcière Noire (French) and Mariposa de la Muerte (Spanish). They are more common in Central and South America as well as Texas. This one must have followed the armadillos up here. The JRN Connection is published monthly.
