The Bees Knees is a magical indoor garden designed by theatre artists for 0-5s to explore and play in. With grassy hills and a secret cave, adults can play too, or just relax within clear sight of their children. It is the perfect place for a birthday party, and the team at Battersea Arts Centre can manage all aspects of the catering and set up, to allow you to have a stress free celebration. Hiring the space The Bees Knees is available for exclusive hire on Saturdays and Sundays for your 0-5 year old s party. The price of hiring the space is 190 + VAT ( 228). Payment for hire and catering (if applicable) must be paid before the party date. A hire includes: -Exclusive use of the Bees Knees for a party, choosing from three slots: Morning: 9am-11:45am Afternoon 12:15pm-3pm Evening 3.30pm 6:15pm -Use of our PA system to play music from an ipod (or similar device). -An event assistant to be there on the day to open the space, help you set up and pack down after the party.* -A picnic space set up with your catering just outside the Bees Knees. Please read on for catering options. We can also provide wooden cutlery, plain napkins and plastic cups. How to book To book your party, please email venues@bac.org.uk with details of the date(s) you are interested in and we will respond to you as soon as possible. *Please note, the Bees Knees Assistants are not able to supervise your children; parents/guardians must supervise children in the Bees Knees at all times.
Catering We offer several party menus listed below, but are more than happy to discuss creating a bespoke package to suit your needs. Please contact our catering team to talk through options: venues@bac.org.uk Honeycomb Lunch Boxes 4.80 per head (no minimum) Totally crockery & cutlery free, this colourful cardboard box contains a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a fromage frais, juice carton and a savoury snack. Honeypot Picnic 5.50 per head (10 children minimum) A cold buffet designed for little hands! Contains fresh sandwich triangles, vegetable sticks & homemade hummus, fruit skewers, cocktail sausages, cubed cheese, and breadsticks. Price includes either individual juice boxes or jugs of squash. Beehive Buffet 7.50 per head (10 children minimum) A hot buffet for busy bees! Contains mini cheese and tomato pizzas, cocktail sausages, chicken strips, fries & dip. Dessert: Jude s ice-cream pots and fruit skweres. Price includes individual juice cartons. Queen Bee 12.50 per head (8 people minimum) A more adult selection of food, which includes seasonal salads, vegetable frittata, roasted chicken drumsticks, individual tartlets and a fresh bread selection - all homemade by our in-house chefs. FAQs Can I bring my own food? You are welcome to bring baby food, a special celebration cake or sweets should you wish. Any other food or drink must be provided by Battersea Arts Centre, unless specifically arranged otherwise. Can we eat in the Bees Knees? For health and safety reasons we keep food and drink out of the Bees Knees so that we can keep it clean. We will serve your party food just outside the Bees Knees, in the foyer, or alternatively we can reserve a space in our café bar or waiting room if you wish. We are happy to add your personal decorations to these areas. Can I set up before the party? Any set up and clearing away must be done within your 3-hour timeslot, so we recommend that you invite guests a little after the start of your hire. Your guests are more than welcome to relax in our café if they arrive early. Can I put decorations up? Yes, but we ask that you don t use cellotape on the walls to protect the paint work. As a listed building we have legal limitations in terms of damage to the building therefore decoration on the Bees knees walls is prohibited. You may use blue tac on the wooden furnishings in the room. Please avoid use of confetti or streamers, all balloons must be tied on to weights at floor level or tied to furniture inside the Bees Knees. The string must be no longer than a metre and not floating anywhere near our ceilings as this is where our overhead heaters are.
FAQs Is there parking? On weekends there is plenty of free parking in the neighbouring residential streets. What is the maximum number of people who can come to the party? The capacity of the Bees Knees space is 40, whatever the ratio of adults and children. Can I leave my children alone in the Bees Knees? The Bees Knees hosts are not able to supervise children. Parents/guardians must supervise children at all times. Anything else? Wear your best socks! There are no shoes allowed in the Bees Knees, for big or small feet!
