IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, the following basic precautions should always be followed: 1. Read all instructions. 2. Before using the Espresso Coffee Maker, please check that the mains voltage of the wall outlet corresponds to the one shown on the appliance s nameplate. 3. This appliance has been incorporated with a grounded plug. Please ensure the mains socket in your house is well earthed. 4. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse cord, plug in water or other liquid. 5. Remove plug from socket before cleaning and when not in use. Allow appliance to cool down completely before moving it or attaching components or before cleaning. 6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service center for examination, repair or adjustment. 7. Do not use any accessory/attachments that are not recommended by Prestige which may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons. 8. Place the appliance on the flat surface. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of table or counter or touch hot surface. 9. Do not use the Espresso Coffee Maker in the environment of high temperature, high magnetic field and humidity. 10. Do not place the Espresso Coffee Maker on the heated surface or beside fire or another electrical appliance or near a hot gas. 11. Do not place any other object on top of the Espresso Coffee Maker. 3

12. To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet. Always hold the plug. But never pull the cord. 13. Do not use the appliance for uses other than the intended use. 14. Close supervision is required when you operate the appliance. Do not leave the appliance on the standby state for a long time. 15. Some parts of appliance are hot when operated (such as glass caraffe, detachable drip tray, top cover, steam tube and froth nozzle and so on). Do not touch them directly with hand. Use either the handle or knob. 16. Regular Cleaning and maintenance of the Espresso Coffee Maker as instructed under the section Cleaning and maintenance to ensure the quality of coffee and the durability of the appliance. 17. If you are not using the appliance for a long time, clean all the detachable components, and dry them for storage. 18. Do not open the tank cover or the filter while making coffee or hot water. 19. When there are indications of trouble with the operation of the appliance, do not operate the appliance. Contact the service centre immediately. 20. Never use the detergent or hot water for cleaning the brewing component. 21. Do not operate the Espresso Coffee Maker without water. 22. Please keep the Espresso Coffee Maker away from children. Operating your Prestige Espresso Coffee Maker Before using your Espresso Coffee Percolator: It is recommended that the Espresso Coffee Maker should be operated following the below instructions without coffee powder and water discarded off before the first use. This will remove any dust material present in the appliance. 1. Pour water into the water tank. Ensure that the water level in the water tank does not exceed the 'MAX' level and less than the 'MIN' level indicated on the water tank. Place the lid on the water tank. Note: The appliance is provided with a detachable water tank for easy cleaning. You can fill the tank with water first and then place the water tank on the appliance. 2. Place the steel filter in the funnel. Do not add any coffee powder to the funnel. 3. Place a caraffe or a jug on the detachable drip tray. Make sure the steam control knob is in 'OFF' position. Note: The coffee maker is not provided with caraffe. Please use your own caraffe or jug of appropriate size 4. Connect the coffee maker to the power source. Pres the 'ON/OFF' switch to 'ON' position. The 'ON' lamp will illuminate. 5. Press the pump control switch to " " position. The pump will start pumping water from the water tank and the water will start flowing out of the funnel. 6. Switch off the pump by switching it to " "position. 6

7. Now, press the coffee/steam selector to " " position. The switch will illuminate indicating the appliance is preheating the water. 8. Once the preheating is over, the appliance will automatically switch off. The indicator light will stop glowing. 9. Press the pump control switch to ' ' position. Water will start flowing out of the funnel. 10. Once the water stops coming out of the funnel, you can pour out the water from the tank and clean them. Now you can start using the coffee maker. Note: There may be some noise while begining to use the appliance for the first time. This is normal. This is due to the pump releasing the air in the appliance. The noise will disappear in about 30 seconds. 7

PRE-HEATING THE COFFEE MAKER It is advisable to pre-heat the coffee maker before brewing coffee including the funnel, steel filter and the cup so that you get coffee with good aroma and flavour. 1. Remove the water tank lid and fill with water. Do not exceed the "MAX" level and less than 'MIN' level indicated on the water tank. 2. Set the steel filter into the metal filter. Make sure that the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the appliance. Insert the funnel into its position from the "INSERT" position and you can fix the funnel into coffee maker firmly when you turn it anti-clockwise until it is locked in the LOCK position. 3. Place a container or cup on the detachable drip tray. 5. Press the "ON/OFF" switch to "ON" position. The "ON" indicator will glow 6. Pres the coffee/steam switch to " " position. 7. Press the pump control switch to ' ' position 8. Once the water starts flowing out of the funnel, switch off the pump control by pressing pump control switch to " " position. Pre-heating is complete 8

MAKE ESPRESSO COFFEE 1. Remove the water tank lid by lifting it up. Pour water in the water tank. Then, close the lid. Note: While pouring water into the water tank, do not exceed the "MAX"level and less than 'MIN' level indicated on the water tank. 2. Place the steel filter into the funnel and add coffee powder to steel filter with measuring scoop, one scoop of coffee powder can make about a cup of filter coffee. Press the coffee powder well inside the filter using the flat side of the scoop. 3. Insert the funnel into its position from the INSERT position, and you can fix the funnel into coffee maker firmly when you turn it anti-clockwise until it is locked in the LOCK position. 4. Place a jug or cup on the detachable drip tray. 5. Plug the power cord into the socket. Press the "ON/OFF" switch to "ON" position. The "ON" indicator will glow. 6. Pres the coffee/steam switch to " " position. 7. Turn the pump control switch to " " position. Ensure the indicator is illuminated. Wait for about 2 minutes for the coffee to flow out. 8. After the desired quantity of coffee has been obtained, turn the pump control switch to " " position. The indicator will go off and the coffee maker will stop working. Your coffee is ready now. 9. Remove the jug or cup and turn the steam control knob to coffee/steam selector switch to ' ' position. 9

10. Turn steam control knob to its first position to release the residual steam in the tank WARNING: Do not leave the coffee maker unattended while the appliance is under operation. 11. Once the Espresso Coffee Maker is allowed to cool, the funnel can be removed by turning it in turn clockwise direction. Remove the coffee residue out of the steel filter with the help of the filter holder. Then rinse the steel filter under running water. Ensure that the filter holder is moved back to its original position before replacing the steel filter into the funnel. 10

FROTHING MILK/ MAKE CAPPUCCINO 1. Prepare espresso as described above. 2. Fill a jug with desired amount of cold milk. Choose a jug big enough as the volume of the milk will increase once frothing is done. Ensure that the diameter of the jug is not less than 70 mm. Do not use hot milk or skimmed milk. 3. Turn the coffee/steam switch to " " position. The indicator will light up. Note: During the operation, the indicator light will switch on and off. This is to maintain the correct temperature for steam generation. 4. Insert the frothing device into the milk for about 2 cm. 5. Turn the steam control knob slowly. Steam will start ejecting from the frothing device. Froth the milk in the jug by moving the jug up and down. 5. When the required amount of frothing has been reached, turn the steam control knob to "0" position to stop frothing. Clean the steam outlet with wet sponge immediately. 6. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso prepared. Add sugar or sweetener to taste and if desired, sprinkle the froth with a little cocoa powder. Your cappuccino is ready. 7. Allow the appliance to cool down before repeating the process. 11

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE 1. Remove the plug from mains socket and let the appliance completely cool down before cleaning. 2. Do not immerse the Espresso Coffee Maker or power cord in water. 3. Clean the body of Espresso Coffee Maker with a damp cloth. Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleanser. 3. Detach the funnel by turning it clockwise, get rid of coffee residue inside and clean it with mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly in running water to get rid of the detergent. 4. Clean all the detachable attachments in the water and dry thoroughly. 5. Periodical descaling is needed. The interval of descaling depends on the hardness of water and the frequency of usage of your Espresso Coffee Maker 6. Do not attempt to dismantle the Espresso Coffee Maker. For any problem, contact the authorized service centre for any service/repair. 12

Cleaning mineral Deposits - Descaling 1. To ensure the operational efficiency, flavor of coffee and the cleanliness of the internal parts of the appliance, regular descaling is required with a frequency of once in 2-3 months. 2. Fill the water tank with water and descaler to the MAX level (at a water to descaler ratio of 4:1). Use household descaler only. 3. Place the funnel in its position without coffee powder. Place a jug or cup on the detachable tray. 4. Press "ON/OFF' switch to "ON" position. 5. Press pump control switch to " " position. 6. Press Coffee/Steam switch to " " position. 7. Once the water starts flowing out, press the pump control switch to " "position. 8. Wait for few moments. The water in the coffee maker heats up. Once the heating is over, the indicator light in the pump control switch illuminates. 9. Press the pump control switch to " " position. Hot water will start flowing out. Allow about two cups of water to flow out. 10. Turn the pump contro switch to " ". The indicator light in the pump control switch will go off. Wait till the indicator light glows again. 11. Press the Coffee/Steam switch to " " position. Rotate the steam control knob gently to last position. Steam will come out from steam ejector nozzle. 12. Make steam for about 2 minutes. 13. Repeat this process for 2 to times. to make sure that the steam eject nozzle is clean. 14. Repeat all the above cleaning processes with clean water once or twice 13

TROUBLE SHOOTING Symptom Reason Action Leakage of water in carafe or jug from its lid. The metal parts in the tank have rust. Water leaks from the bottom of coffee maker. Water leaks out of the filter. The carafe is not placed properly in the machine. The level of water in the tank exceeds the MAX scale of the tanker. The descaler is not of recommended type. It may corrode the metal parts in the tank. Detachable drip tray is filled with water. The coffee Maker is malfunctioning. The edge of the filter has some coffee powder residue in it. 14 Align the centre of carafe with the mouth of the funnel The water level in the tank should be within the scale of MIN and MAX. Use domestic descaler. Please clean the detachable drip tray. Please contact with the authorized service centre immediately. Clean the edges of the filter.

Taste of acid (vinegar) in the Espresso. The coffee maker is not functioning. The steam is not able to froth. The coffee maker is not cleaned properly after descaling. The coffee powder is old and stored in a hot, wet place. The power cord is not plugged properly. The indicator light on the coffee/steam indicator is not illuminated. The container is too big or the shape of the container is not fit. You have used skimmed milk. 15 Operate the coffee maker thoroughly with water only for several times. Please use fresh coffee powder. Store your coffee powder in a cool, dry place. Plug the power cord into the mains socket properly. If the appliance is still not working, contact the authorized service centre for repair. Only after the indicator light on the coffee/steam indicator is illuminated, the steam can be used to froth. Use a high and narrow container. Use only whole milk or halfskimmed milk for frothing. For any other trouble, please contact the authorised service centre immediately.

WARRANTY CARD (CUSTOMER S COPY) This page has to be treated as a full fledged warranty card and is required to be maintained by you. You will require to produce this card while claiming the service within the warranty period. In the unlikely event that a defect should develop in the espresso coffee maker during the period of this warranty, the product should be delivered at your cost to the Regional Service Centre or Authorised Service Centre along with this warranty card. terms of Warranty Prestige (hereinafter referred to as the Company) warrants to the purchaser of Prestige Espresso Coffee Maker, (hereinafter referred to as Espresso Coffee Maker) that the said electric rice cooker is free from all defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is valid for a period of one year from the date of original purchase, subject to the following terms and conditions:- 1) The warranty card is to be completed, signed by the dealer immediately on purchase. 2) The Espresso Coffee Maker is only to be serviced by the Company Regional Service Centre or by its Authorised Service Centre (addresses listed in this manual). 3) The customer shall carry the Espresso Coffee Maker to the nearest Company Regional Service Centre/Authorised Service Centre at his/her own cost and risk. 4) The Company shall make all endeavours/attempts to carry out the Service/Replacement under this Warranty at the earliest, but shall not be liable to do so within any specified time. 5) The Warranty will continue and remain in force only for the unexpired period of the original Warranty, in regard to the Repair/Replacement of parts of the Espresso Coffee Maker. 6) The Espresso Coffee Maker shall be used strictly for domestic purposes in accordance with the user s manual. 7) The Company shall not be held liable for any accident, loss or damage (direct or indirect) to person or property caused by reason of: a) Repairs/Service attended by unauthorised service person. b) Over-loading/Misuse/abuse or/and negligence on the part of the user. 17

c) Defects caused by improper/reckless use. d) Use of spurious spares/old, non-genuine spares. e) Failure to comply with any safety precaution or maintenance tip suggested by the Company. f) Original serial number is deleted/defaced or altered. 8) The Company shall not be responsible for any special consequential damages or loss arising directly or indirectly for any delay in the performance of this Warranty. 9) The Company reserves the right to retain any part or component at the Regional Service Centre/branches or Authorised Service Centre or at its workshop and shall effect Repairs/ Replacement or parts or components at its sole discretion. 10) This Warranty shall not in any case extend towards payment or any monetary consideration whatsoever, and shall be only limited to the product replacement. 11) Electrical parts are not covered under the warranty terms as they are subject to wear and tear. Replacement of these parts is chargeable. 12) Electrical appliances, wire points need regular check up by an authorised service person. 13) Electrical appliances are prone to voltage fluctuation risks, therefore precaution should be taken before use. Company shall not be responsible for any damage to electrical parts, arising out of this problem. 14) For repairs after the expiry of the warranty period, the authorised service centre will levy a charge (based on the MRP) for the component replaced. 15) The decision of the company is final in all cases of complaints. 16) Any complaints/disputes shall be within the jurisdiction of the Courts of Bangalore 18
