Brown Cup Winner Class 20 Flower Section 3 Blooms Spiced Apple Cake Summer Show Item 32 2 oz Butter 4 oz Dark Soft Brown Sugar 1 Egg 4 oz Plain Flour 1 tsp. Nutmeg ½ tsp Cinnamon 1 tsp. Baking Powder 4oz Apples peeled, cored & chopped (prepared weight) For Topping 1 tbsp Runny Honey 1 tbsp Demerara Sugar Preheat oven to 170ºc / 325ºf / Gas Mark 3 Cream butter and soft brown sugar and add beaten egg gradually with the flour, spices and baking powder. Fold together and then add the apple. Pour into a small greased and lined loaf tin and bake for about 1 to 1¼ hours until risen and firm. Mix the honey and Demerara sugar and spread over the cake whilst warm. Leave in tin to cool.

Fruit and Ginger Cake Spring Show item 26 3oz Prunes chopped ready to eat ¼ tsp Bicarbonate of Soda 4½ fl oz Hot Water 2oz Unsalted Butter 2 oz Dark Brown Sugar 2 oz Golden Syrup 1 Beaten Egg 4½ oz Self Raising Flour 1 Dessert spoon Ground Ginger For Topping: 1 tbsp Maple Syrup Preheat oven to 180ºc/350ºf/Gas Mark 4. Grease and line a small loaf tin. Place prunes, bicarbonate of soda and water in a large pan and heat until boiling. Remove from heat and add butter, sugar and golden syrup. Stir until melted, then add egg, flour and ginger to the mixture and mix thoroughly. Pour mixture into the tin and bake for about 40 minutes till risen and firm. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out and brush with the maple syrup. Rules and Conditions 1. Entries in Amateur Sections of both shows are restricted to those exhibitors who are not and have not been professionals in that section. Exhibitors must be AMATEURS in their Class. 2. Any objection raised as to the qualification of an exhibitor shall be dealt with by the Flower Show Committee and its decision shall be final. 3. All Pot Plants must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for at least Six months, All other exhibits for at least Two months, except in the Domestic Section and where stated. 4. All entries should be submitted on the relevant entry forms. Entries for the Spring Show will only be accepted on the day of the show from 9 am to 10.30 am Entry forms for the Summer Show should be submitted to the Flower Show Secretary, together with the entrance money, not later than 3 pm on Friday 31st July 2009. Entries will be accepted on the day of the show with the entry fee doubled and must be staged by 10.30 am 5. Entry fees will be 15p for all classes. 6. The Hall will be open from 9-00 a.m. to 10-30 a.m. and no entries will be accepted after this time. 7. One entry per person in any one class. 8. Exhibits are not to be removed from the tables before the Prizegiving. 9. The Flower Show Committee will not be held responsible for any damage that may occur to the exhibits. 10. All cup winners to hold trophy for eleven months. All cups must be returned to the Show Secretary one month before the Show. 11. Prizes : 1st - 30p 2nd - 25p 3rd - 20p 12. The judges are empowered to withhold any award at their discretion.
