Thom Zelenka, Host Why does everyone blame me when the set catches fire? The Host: Thom Zelenka Thom Zelenka began performing in the kitchen at a very early age, not at the stove, but by making his Momma laugh with jokes, songs & stories. He also appeared nightly at the dining room table, by day in classrooms and occasionally on stage. He knew he loved making people laugh, even if it did cost him considerable time in detention. His desire to perform made him pack his bags for New York City. While waiting for his Big Break, he returned to the kitchen as Chief Egg Cracker for a film catering company. You would think after cracking 30 dozen eggs a day, frying hundreds of omelets, and squeezing about 25 oranges to make an obscenely large glass of OJ for one, Bobby De Niro, that Thom would be a pro in front of the stove. Sadly, no. Because of his propensity for setting off smoke detectors with food items that are usually nonflammable, Thom was forced to retire from breakfast catering. Where s the best place for someone with such refined culinary ineptitude? Why... of course. For the safety of New York City and the entertainment of others, Thom has been quarantined to the set of. Here, in front of the camera, he approaches the kitchen in the safest way he knows how: delivering jokes, singing songs, and telling stories.

Aris Ragouzeos, Wine Expert Wine began as a hobby in 1975 and has now become a full time obsession for Aris Ragouzeous. Since 1981 he has worked as a buying consultant for the Wine Merchant, one of the finest wine and beer specialty retailers in the Carolinas. He authors their website and monthly newsletter, distributed to thousands of wine and beer connoisseurs. Aris spent several years as the wine writer for the News and Observer. For five consecutive years, he has judged the North Carolina State Fair - Wine Competition. A well made wine is like a symphony with all instruments in harmony. Aris s sought after advanced wine and food tasting events at the NC State University Club awaken taste buds as participants learn to recognize and appreciate fine wines and the delicious dishes they accompany. Wine and Beer Segment Every episode of features a 2-3 minute wine segment in which Aris, the wine and beer expert, pairs a wine or beer with the recipe being prepared. Throughout this segment, Aris talks about the flavors in the wine or beer, the history of the grapes and the makers of the product. During this conversation with Thom the wine or beer is opened, poured and tasted. At the end of the show, when the dish is completed, Thom and the guest chef not only taste the food but sample the wine and beer with the prepared dish.
