FROM THE PRESIDENTS PEN An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) is scheduled for next Sunday the 12 th August in our Rust Avenue Clubrooms commencing at 10:00am. Please make a big effort to attend to have your say and vote on the Remits presented. The outcome of this meeting will determine the future of our new clubrooms on Hannah Street. All the relevant information is available for viewing in the clubrooms. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the options we will be voting on. Remember that you must be a current 2018 2019 Financial Member of the Whangarei Returned and Services Association Inc. to attend the meeting. Not Financial No Entry. To date we have made our application to the Whangarei District Council to re-site up to 9 Casino machines in the new premises at 16 Hannah Street, and all going well we will have our application for a new Liquor Licence filed in the coming week, all 21 pages of it. Membership: If you haven t renewed your membership for 2018 2019 it is now overdue. This means you can no longer enjoy the privileges of a financial member of this RSA. You will need to be signed in as a visitor, are ineligible to any discounts, must park off site as the carpark is for financial members only and you cannot attend the EGM next Sunday. The new cards are quite distinctive grey card, RSA Logo down left side with a poppy and Armed Forces personnel walking across face of the card, on the reverse is the magnetic strip and the new RED snowball no. ticket. NO Renewals will be accepted on the Sunday of the 12 th August as the Office is closed. You have all next week to renew your subscriptions, before the EGM so please do so. Volunteers: I am still wanting some volunteers to help trim cut down the Bougainvillea on the western boundary of the carpark. I require helpers to do the work in conjunction with the Doctors from the other side of the fence. You will need gloves, chainsaws, loppers, secateurs, rakes, brooms etc., we will supply the bins for the hedge clippings to be put into, and morning tea +?. Come on members, our motto is People helping People so where are you, only one person has offered to date, we have over a thousand financial members and only one of you offers to help. The date is still to be confirmed, but it will be on a Sunday and is based on me getting those volunteers. Please put your name and contact number on a piece of paper and put it into the Suggestion Box on the Reception counter or give your name and address to Marlene at Reception, Angela in the Office or come and see me, your president, I am in the Clubroom every Wednesday and Friday till 7.00pm. Club Usage: It is great to see the Clubrooms being used by our members. Mondays by our Bingo players, the ladies have a lot of fun and go home hopefully with a little extra cash in their pockets. They play every Monday from 1.00pm to 2.30pm. On Tuesday we have Line for the more experienced dancers from 10.30am and on Fridays for beginners from 10.30am till 12 noon. Wednesday evening s Darts have their club night starting at 7.15pm for all levels of players, on Thursday evenings we have the pool section again starting at 7.15pm again for all levels of players. Friday as mentioned above Line Dancing for more experienced dancers, on the odd Saturday we have Darts and Pool championship games or Visitors from other clubs round the north or Auckland, and on Sundays on every second Sunday we have Cuban Salsa Classes starting at 4.30 for advanced dancers, beginners at 5.15pm and Intermediate classes from 6.00pm. So as you can see, the clubrooms are being used on all days of the week, with hours to suit. Come along and join in the fun, meet new friends, learn new sports and dancing. Just get out of your house and come and enjoy yourself at Your Club. DON T FORGET - 10AM SUNDAY 12 TH AUGUST EGM IN THE RSA CLUBROOMS SEE YOU ALL HERE. Chris Harold President.
