Wine is sensitive. It reacts to its environment and needs to be lovingly looked after if it s to come out of the bottle as intended. A wine cabinet is a must have purchase for anyone who wants to fully enjoy the aroma, flavour and complexity of a good bottle of wine. consistency is key These days a good wine doesn t necessarily have to be expensive. A truly great wine is simply one that tastes good to you. From traditional French classics to the new wave of very drinkable offerings from around the globe, there is a wine to suit almost every taste and budget. Temperature control Different types of wine should be kept at different temperatures. Rosés and whites should be served at 7 C-14 C, sparkling wines at 6 C-9 C. With reds, it s a question of body full reds need 15 C-18 C, whereas lighter reds are best at 12 C-14 C. A selection of our cabinets have multiple temperature zones to keep wines at their optimum temperature, for storing or better still, serving. 5

It is essential to store wine at a consistent temperature, so for peace of mind, each and every Caple wine cabinet employs a compressor cooling system to ensure a consistent temperature is maintained around the clock. Compressor cooling When choosing a wine cabinet it s essential to consider the type of cooling system it uses. Many cabinets use thermo electric technology a system which is only capable of cooling to 15 C below the room s ambient temperature. So on a warm day of 25 C the contents will only cool to a minimum of 10 C, leaving your precious wine susceptible to fluctuating temperatures. These fluctuations disturb the organic components of the wine, causing the cork to shrink or swell and letting air into the bottle. To ensure that the temperature is consistently maintained, all Caple wine cabinets have been fitted with an innovative compressor cooling system. This method of cooling maintains the exact temperature you have set, irrespective of the ambient room temperature, ensuring your wine will stay safe and sound. Compressor cooling is also included in our slender 15cm wide model, something rare in cabinets of this size. 6

When serving wine, always pour still wine slowly into the centre of the glass and pour sparkling wine down the side of the glass. Finally, never pour a glass more than two thirds full this allows room for the person to swirl their wine and release its aromas. 7

8 Bottles should always be stored on their side so that the wine is in contact with the cork. This keeps the cork moist and ensures a good air seal for the bottle, preventing oxidation and immediate ageing of the wine.

Caple wine cabinets are fitted with anti-vibration gaskets and low vibration compressors to prevent disturbance to the wine s sediment balance. To preserve cork quality, preventing mould and odours, our cabinets produce an ideal atmosphere of above 65% humidity giving you the confidence that your wine will be well taken care of. Ideal storage Ullage is the gap between the cork and the wine in the bottle when it is upright. Wine benefits best from side storage if the level of the wine is at least to the upper shoulder of the bottle when upright. Caple wine cabinets provide an adequate number of shelves to allow bottles to be stored either on a single level to help protect the collection and keep each bottle within easy reach, or stacked for longer storage. The perfect lighting Ultraviolet light causes Light Strike premature wine ageing, so sunlight and fluorescent light must be avoided. Our white LED lighting is not only attractive, but completely UV and heat free. 9

Storage and capacity The number of temperature zones you require depends on the type, quantity and required temperature of the wine you intend to store. Do you buy red, white, rosé, sparkling or a mixture? How many bottles? Would you like the option of chilling other beverages such as beer and soft drink? Dual zones allow you to accommodate two collections which need to be stored at different temperatures, for instance to keep red and white wine at serving temperature, or to keep white wine at storage and serving temperatures. Extended warranty Our extended warranty increases the protection on any Caple appliance to 3 or 5 years. Both options cover the full cost of repairs, including parts and labour, in the event of a breakdown. This extended warranty also protects against breakdown caused through fair wear and tear resulting from above average domestic use. Extended warranty application forms are included with all appliances. For payments made by direct debit the premium can be spread over 10 months.
