Crop Update Apples & Pears This year we will have many challenges on 88ct and smaller apples. Granny Smith and Golden Delicious are extremely limited, and the market is active. Pear supplies are steady with good quality across the board. Avocados Alert! Supplies are DEMAND EXCEED. However, harvest did resume after a strike in Mexico curtailed harvest for over two weeks. Supplies have depleted in the US and will take time to replenish starting with inbound product arriving over the weekend. It will take a couple weeks with normal arrivals from Mexico to fill conditioning DC and get back to a normal type market. Expect market to remain elevated for the coming weeks. Berries Blackberries Supplies have greatly improved over the last week. Mexico s production is up and running, and quality is good so far. Raspberries Production out of Mexico is slowly gaining steam as the domestic harvest comes to an end. Quality and supplies will improve as Mexico continues to ramp up. Strawberry The wildfires in California have caused supplies to come to a sudden halt. The situation is more severe than expected with the winds not calming down and the fires continuing to spread. The air quality has been deemed unhealthy causing shippers to cancel harvests and workers to not show up. As a result, harvest are down 20-30% and supplies will remain limited until the fires are contained and air quality improves. Broccoli Market continues to be a little snug as the colder nights have slowed the growing process in the Salinas Valley and Santa Maria areas. Quality is fair with slight purpling, some mechanical damage, and occasional yellow cast. Look for supplies to continue to remain a bit snug. Cauliflower Market has picked up as supplies have become a bit snug. Overall, the quality has been good with minor bruising and some yellow cast with weights in the 25 to 28-pound level. Look for this market to continue to be strong going into next week. Blueberry Supplies have improved over the last week, with Mexico and South America filling the pipeline. Bell Peppers Supplies are limited with heavy demand from East Coast with their normal regions in a gap. Green bells are currently being harvested in Coachella with limited supplies. Red and Yellow supplies are limited out of Coachella with limited supplies available from Baja. Markets are active and will remain higher until new growing regions begin production early to mid December. Quality remains good. Information is subject to daily weather and market fluctuations and is meant to be used as a guide.

Leaf Lettuce & Iceberg 100% California Product Iceberg Lettuce: Defects on lettuce include decay, misshapen heads, puffy, ribbing and mechanical. The weights on wrap are ranging from 36-42 pounds. Yuma is in production with lighter weights due to puffiness of the plant. The product is not as strong in quality compared to the last few weeks. Some shippers want to create demand as much as possible. Leaf Lettuce: Romaine is active in all growing regions. Supplies will be very limited throughout this week as well as the following week. Pricing on contracts has escalated as well as value added items. Demand exceeds supplies. Romaine hearts are also very light in availability with all shippers. Common defects with romaine and romaine hearts include twisting, mechanical, insect damage, dehydration, and light weights. Yuma has begun harvesting items with product being on the light side, especially the romaine crop. Green Onions Market is extremely tight due to weather in Mexico and labor issues. Recent heat followed with rain has been causing some occasional browning streaks and some mechanical damage. Squash Onions Alert! Mainland Mexico supplies are down due to cooler weather in the growing region slowing production on both zucchini and yellow squash causing markets to rise. Overall quality remains excellent. Quality and availability are excellent out of Idaho on Yellow, Reds, and Whites. Melons Domestic melons are finished for the season. Mexico has limited supplies on all sizes of Cantaloupes. Look for pricing to remain high for the next few weeks. The Honeydew market is steady with good quality. Offshore cantaloupes are expected to start arriving on the west coast in the next few weeks with limited volume. Citrus Lemons: Quality has much improved over the last few weeks. The bigger sizes such as 140 count and larger are still struggling to increase in supplies. We are seeing steady markets both out of Oxnard and Coachella. Oranges: With the California Valencia season finished we are seeing good supplies on California Navel as the season ramps up. Quality has definitely improved with the new crop. We will see better sugar levels as we get a further into the Navel season. Supplies are excellent. Tomatoes Alert! AOG EVENT - DEMAND EXCEEDS SUPPLIES. Supplies have been hit with a perfect storm of rain, virus and unusual cold weather to produce dramatically low yields on Mexican tomatoes crossing into the US. California has finished on gas greens. Supplies are short on all sizes. Quality is variable within different lots. Supplies on romas are also Demand Exceed as a freeze has curtained harvest in Eastern Mexico. Supplies are still coming out of Baja but are very short. Look for market extremes as we progress into the coming weeks. Grapes and cherry supplies are also very limited with better supply on cherries. Quality Is fair to good.
