Di Majo Norante Don Luigi 2008 92 points The 2008 Montepulciano Riserva Don Luigi presents a cool, inward expression of this native grape. A vein of lively minerality frames black fruits, herbs and smoke. The wine softens with air, turning seamless and impeccably elegant on the finish. Di Majo Norante Apianae 2009 92 points Di Majo Norante's Moscato Reale Apianae is often one of the most compelling sweet wines in Italy, as it is again in 2009. Tangerine blossoms, orange peel, flowers, mint and minerals are just some of the nuances that flow from this elegant, refined wine. The Apianae was aged in neutral oak and carries just 94 grams of residual sugar, making it a moderately sweet wine that doesn't tire the palate. Di Majo Norante Contado 2009 91 points The 2009 Aglianico del Molise Contado impresses for its density, balance and depth. Hints of smoke and tar add complexity to the rich, powerful fruit. In truth, the 2012 Molise Rosso Riserva Don Luigi offer less varietal character, replacing it instead with enormous power and depth. This wine stands tall and proud with thick lines of dark berry fruit, dried blackberry, grilled herb and moist chewing tobacco. Di Majo Norante always makes wines with distinctive character and this edition of the massive, but beautiful Don Luigi is no exception. DI MAJO NORANTE Apianae Moscato Reale del Molise 2010 92 points The 2010 Moscato del Molise Apianae (500 ml) is a gorgeous wine with a clean approach and bright fruit flavors. This distinctive dessert wine offers candied orange peel, pineapple, apricot and blanched almond. But this sweet wine also offers a specific herbal quality that sets it apart from its peers. This is not an obvious dessert wine. In fact, the complexity of its aromas come as a very happy surprise. The tannins are well managed and the wine offers lots of grip and intensity in the mouth. One thing this wine has is tons of bright personality. It also represents excellent value. DI MAJO NORANTE Sangiovese Terre degli Osci 2013 90 points Di Majo Norante does a great job with its 2013 Sangiovese (an IGT Terre degli Osci wine). This expression shows a great sense of balance and harmony with red fruit energy that emerges from the glass. Cherry, dried blackberry and currants are part of the aromatic equation. So are softer aromas of spice, leather and tobacco. That crisp Sangiovese acidity comes through nicely and the wine ends with firm tannins and an elegantly streamlined mouthfeel. DI MAJO NORANTE Cabernet Sauvignon Terre degli Osci 2013 89 points The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a compact and lean expression of the noble French grape that shows background tones of bramble and Mediterranean herb that give the wine an all-italian personality. That extra sharpness is particularly evident in the mouth where the wine also presents silky tannins, bright berry highlights and tangy acidity. All said and done, it may be a little too edgy for those who appreciate a softer style.

This particular vintage is slightly less intense in terms of bouquet and mouthfeel, yet you still get a very good view of the Sangiovese grape. The wine presents sharp contours with bright berry nuances, sour cherry and moist chewing tobacco. A pretty blast of acidity appears on the finish. DI MAJO NORANTE Cabernet Sauvignon Terre degli Osci 2014 88 points The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is a tight and slightly nervous red wine with ample aromatic personality that focuses on red fruit, cassis, grilled herb, leather and spicy tobacco. The 2014 vintage was cool and wet towards the end of the growing season and the wine shows some sharp and thorny qualities as a result. Those probably won't soften with time but if paired correctly (with succulent meat or cheesy pasta dishes) the wine should find a successful food match. Of all the wineries in Molise, none stands taller than Di Majo Norante in terms of international visibility. Celebrated enologist Riccardo Cotarella helped to grow this brand thanks to his sophisticated and international style of winemaking. Molise wines owe much to this dynamic Alessio Di Majo and Riccardo Cotarella team.
