Slice of Paradise At Scenic Matavai Resort Niue guests can enjoy two very unique food and beverage offerings. The Pool Bar & Café and the Dolphin Restaurant & Bar are open 7 days a week and showcase the most stunning views of the surrounding bays and coastline. Our philosophy is to source produce from Niue Island through our local fishermen, village markets and the hydroponic farms. Sourcing locally requires us to be very resourceful and at times certain food items are out of stock but, a replacement option will always be available. The Resort hosts themed evenings ranging from live performances to our popular buffet nights. We highly recommend booking ahead, especially during high season (April November) and bookings are essential for our Buffet Nights (Thursday & Friday). For guests wanting to enjoy a private view, room service is available. Please note: Guests with any dietary restrictions need to inform Reception upon arrival to ensure our Kitchen team are aware and can accommodate you. The Dolphin Restaurant andbar Located within the resort s main building the Dolphin Restaurant & Bar offers indoor and outdoor dining options. Guests can enjoy 180 degree views up and down the coastline of both Avatele and Tamakautoga Bays from our stunning expansive deck area. Open all day from breakfast until late our signature restaurant and bar specialises in offering guests Niuean infused and Pacific Rim cuisine at its best. During your time at the Resort take advantage of our prime views in front of the dining areas to experience dolphins swimming by. Through the months of June to September Humpback whales visit Niue during the annual migration path. If you hear the bell ring that means that a whale is in the bay. Viewing them from the resort s deck is a must. What's On MONDAY Weaving: 10am - 12pm Learn to weave with the ladies of Niue in the Dolphin Restaurant Behold the coconut Niue E!: 5:30pm Join us every Monday from 5.30pm, down at the pool bar, listen while we tell you a short history of how the coconut came to the island and how we got the name. NIU..E. A short demonstration of how to husk a coconut and the different useful things we do with this brown mature nut, from the inside flesh to its shell. Have a go at husking one if you're keen. TUESDAY The Puheke Family Band: 6pm - 9pm WEDNESDAY Uga Presentation Night: 5:30pm Learn all about the Niuean Coconut Crabs at our free Uga presentation by the pool bar at 5.30pm. Meet a couple of our crabs while Toni the Uga man explains how we lay bait and catch the Uga. It is also a great photo opportunity, hold the Uga and show your friends and family how brave you are. Please note: Uga is not available on our Menu but if you do manage to source one we are happy to cook it and serve with salad and cassava chips for $30 please book in advance FRIDAY Welcome Cultural Performance: 7:30pm Experience the Niuean culture with a performance by our local children s entertainment group. An evening of local culture and cuisine. Chefs on the deck cooking a "taste of Niue buffet" and a choice of BBQ fish or steak with prawns. Followed by the local kids cultural performance. Pool Bar BBQ, burgers & beer: 6pm - 9pm Listen to the sounds of Glen JXN, a return son of Niue who has made it in the NZ entertainment arena as an actor, musician, comedian and producer. Bookings recommended. THURSDAY Farewell Spit Roast, Umu & Fire Dance Performance: 6.30pm Relax with live local music as you enjoy spit roasted local pork, Umu food and freshly caught local fish, also Niuean favourites Luku, takihi, taro, cassava and much more from our Umu pit including fresh meat products from New Zealand. The Pool Bar Located on the lower deck of the Resort, the Pool Bar & Café is open daily serving pizzas, open sandwiches, snack meals and healthy options as well as a selection of cold beverages. Relax on the sun loungers as you listen to the sound of the sea with stunning views all around you or sip on cocktails as you watch sensational sunsets at our swim up bar.
