Conversation(A) Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were having dinner in a restaurant. It seldom happens; they haven t dined out for almost ten years. But it was Valentine s Day, they got married fifty years ago on this day. Mr. Anderson wanted to give Mrs. Anderson a surprise, so he took her to this famous restaurant in town.
Mr. Anderson: Here we are. Mrs. Anderson: Oh, my gosh! I ve dreamed that we had a great dinner here a thousand times! Mr. Anderson: I knew that. That s why we re here now. Let s go.
After they settle down Waiter: This is our Valentine s special set menu. Would you care for an aperitif before your meal? Mr. Anderson: Yes, I think we will. In fact, today we have something to celebrate. It s our golden wedding; we ve been married for fifty years. Waiter: That s wonderful! Congratulations!
Mr. Anderson: I think it calls for something special. What would you recommend? Waiter: How about a champagne cocktail for madam and a kirsch for you, sir? Mr. Anderson: What would you like, dear? Mrs. Anderson:The champagne cocktail sounds delicious. I ll try that.
Mr. Anderson: I think I ll have a dry sherry instead of the kirsch. Waiter: Certainly, sir. A champagne cocktail for madam and a dry sherry for you. Just a moment, please.
After a few minutes Waiter: Here are your drinks. Are you ready to order now? Mr. Anderson: No, not really. Waiter: Please take your time. When you are ready to order, please let me know.

Waiter: What would you like for the salad? Mr. Anderson: Two Caesar salads. Waiter: What kind of dressing would you like? We have Thousand Islands, Italian, French, sour cream and yogurt. Mr. Anderson: Sour cream is fine. Honey, you like French dressing, right?
Mrs. Anderson: Yes. But I want to try something different today. I think yogurt will be all right. Mr. Anderson: One with sour cream and the other with yogurt, please. Waiter: What will you have for the main course? Mr. Anderson: I ll have the grilled sirloin steak.
Waiter: How would you like your steak? Mr. Anderson: Medium, please. Waiter: How about you, madam? Mrs. Anderson: I ll have the grilled drumstick with Italian sauce.
Waiter: Let me repeat your orders. You ordered one crisp sautéed mushrooms and one smoked salmon rolls for appetizers. One Boston clam chowder and one vegetable soup. Two Caesar salads, one with sour cream dressing and the other with yogurt dressing. One medium grilled sirloin steak and one grilled drumstick with Italian sauce for the main course.
