Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your Gourmet Gadgetry Waffle Maker, a culinary innovation allowing you to whip up 5 mini heart shaped waffles or one big one in a matter of minutes! Clean the non-stick baking plates with a soft damp cloth and then thoroughly dry them. Completely unwind the mains cable. Place the Waffle Maker on a dry, level heat-resistant surface away from any other appliances or objects. Your Waffle Maker is now ready to use. 3
Operating your Waffle Maker 1. Make sure that your Waffle Maker is clean and dry. 2. Position your Waffle Maker on a flat table or surface close to a plug socket. 3. Plug the power lead into a suitable plug socket. 4. Close your Waffle Maker and pre-heat it for a few minutes. The green indicator light will be illuminated when it is ready. 5. Once ready to use make sure that both baking plates of your Waffle Maker have been coated with an oil spray. 6. REMEMBER that the baking plates are very hot; do not touch these with your hands. 7. Add one ladle sized amount of waffle batter and pour in the centre of the bottom baking plate, the mixture will gradually move and fill out the remaining cavities. DO NOT overfill each cavity; remember that your mixture will expand with cooking. 8. Carefully close the lid, clip shut the lid latch and allow the waffles to bake for 8-10 minutes. 9. During cooking, the temperature regulating thermostat maintains an even temperature. You may therefore notice the indicator flickering. 10. After 8 minutes you can test that the waffles are ready by inserting a toothpick into the middle of one; if it comes out clean they are ready. 11. Switch off the machine and leave to cool for a few minutes before removing with a wooden or plastic utensil. 12. Add any toppings as desired. 4
Cleaning your Waffle Maker Follow these simple steps to clean and maintain your Waffle Maker after every use: 1. Turn your Waffle Maker OFF by un-plugging it from the mains. 2. Allow the machine to completely cool down. 3. Clean the top and bottom casing with a soft damp cloth and then dry with a kitchen/paper towel. 4. Open the Waffle Maker and wipe away any excess mixture with a soft damp cloth and then dry with a kitchen/paper towel. Make sure that each cavity on the top and bottom baking plates are thoroughly cleaned and dried. 5. Once your Waffle Maker is clean and dry it is ready to be packed back in its box ready for the next use. NEVER immerse the Waffle Maker in water, other liquids, or use in a dishwasher. There is danger to life due to a risk of electric shock. NEVER use abrasive cleaning agents or sharp objects (e.g. scrubbing brush or a knife) for cleaning. 5
Important Safety Instructions When using your Waffle Maker, standard safety precautions should be followed, including the following: 1. Please read all instructions carefully before using the appliance and retain this user guide for future reference. 2. This Waffle Maker is for household use only. 3. Do not operate this appliance if the machine, cable or mains adaptor are showing any sign of damage. 4. This appliance should not be assembled or operated by children. 5. Do not touch the baking plates with your fingers during or after use as they become very hot. 6. If any cake mix spills out of the Waffle cavities or down the sides of the baking plates always switch off the machine and let it cool down completely before cleaning. 7. Do not immerse the Waffle Maker in water or other liquid, doing so may cause injury due to electric shock, and will also damage the machine. 10. Before cleaning always turn off the power, and then disconnect the mains adaptor from the plug socket and appliance. 11. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning fluids on this appliance, please follow the cleaning instructions on page 5. 6
RECIPE IDEAS Plain Waffles Ingredients: 250g Plain Flour 20g Caster Sugar 270ml Milk 2 Eggs 25ml Vegetable Oil 2 teaspoons of Baking Powder 1 teaspoon Salt This mixture will make approximately 6 waffles. Instructions 1. Place the flour, caster sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl and mix. 2. In a separate bowl beat together the eggs and milk. 3. Add the egg and milk mixture, as well as the vegetable oil to all of the dry ingredients and mix together well until all lumps have disappeared. 4. Pre-heat your Waffle Maker and add some sunflower oil spray, to the baking plates to eliminate the possibility of sticking (a thin layer of butter/margarine can also be used). 5. Use one ladle of your waffle mixture and gently pour to the centre of the bottom plate. The mixture will spread to the edges itself; do not use more than one ladle of mixture as the waffle will expand with cooking. 6. Close the lid. 7. Leave for 7-8 minutes and check for browning around the sides of the waffle. It may need to be left for a further 1-2 minutes. Once you are happy you can switch off the machine and leave to cool for a few minutes before removing with a wooden or plastic utensil. 8. Decorate your waffle as desired. 7
Chocolate Waffles Ingredients 250g Plain Flour 35g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder 20g Caster Sugar 270ml Milk 2 Eggs 25ml Vegetable Oil 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence 2 teaspoons of Baking Powder 1/2 teaspoon Salt This mixture will make approximately 6 waffles. Instructions 1. Place the flour, caster sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt in a large mixing bowl and mix. 2. In a separate bowl beat together the eggs and milk. 3. Add the egg and milk mixture, as well as the vegetable oil and vanilla essence to all of the dry ingredients and mix together well until all lumps have disappeared. 4.
