Check out our Timber Ridge Webpage at www.johnston. k12.ia.us Our fifth grade Jr. Web Masters have been wking on our first Timber Ridge home page! Parent Teacher Conference Attendance We would like to thank our parents f attending Parent Teacher conferences in November. Over 97% of our parents attended fall conferences. Our parent suppt is so beneficial to everyone: students, teachers and parents. Changing Weather Our warm days are gone f the next 4-5 months. We would appreciate your effts to make sure your child has a winter coat, hat and mittens gloves when they come to school each day. A baseball cap shts are not sufficient protection in the winter! When it snows, the students will also need to wear boots. It can be very windy on our playground and we want our students to stay healthy. The students will go outside f recess unless it is raining with the wind chill, the temperature is below 5 degrees. Thanks f your help! Announcing School Closings Johnston Schools will be using our Alert Now system to infm families of late starts, early dismissals school cancellation due to inclement weather. Through the Alert Now system, families will receive a recded phone message from Superintendent Clay Guthmiller. Emergency Radio and Television Announcements If school must be dismissed early cancelled because of adverse weather other emergencies, the radio and TV stations listed below will also carry announcements. Please listen to the news broadcasts and special announcements on these stations rather than call the schools administration office. Also, make a plan now so that your children know where to go if school is closed early and you are not at home. Radio: Television: KRNT Radio (1350AM) WHO (Channel 13) WHO Radio (1040AM) KCCI (Channel 8) KLTI Radio (104.1FM) WOI (Channel 5) LAZER Radio (103.3FM) PRAISE Radio (940AM) STAR Radio (102.5) Preschool Classes If the start of the school day is delayed f one hour, Preschool classes will start at the same time as the other elementary students, at 9:50. If school is delayed f two hours, then Preschool classes will be canceled. Whether it is a one two hour delay, afternoon preschool classes will begin at the regular time. If there is an early dismissal due to inclement weather, the preschool staff will attempt to notify parents and parents will be asked to pick up their child as soon as possible. Community Education (CE) Classes/Events F an update on all Community Education classes/events call 278-0552 after 4:00 p.m., and press #199 f a recding. In the event of extreme weather, an announcement regarding KTC will be made on radio, TV and through our Alert Now system.

Lost and Found Items Have you found a mitten f your child s left hand and were wondering where the right hand mitten might be? Please check our Lost and Found boxes. The number of items is growing! We displayed the items during parent teacher conferences. Some items were claimed, but there are still items left. The Lost and Found boxes are located in the hallway outside the KTC entrance. Next time you are at school, please check our Lost and Found f any of those misplaced items. Thank you. Many Thanks to our PTO Our Timber Ridge PTO has been very busy wking and suppting several projects at Timber Ridge. We greatly appreciate their suppt of our staff and students. Bookfair - Many members have wked countless hours to ganize and staff the recent bookfair. The money raised from the bookfair will be divided among our teachers and the library. They will be able to purchase books f their classroom libraries and our building library. Conference Dinner Several PTO members ganized and/ contributed to a dinner f the staff on conference night. Conference night is a busy night f teachers. They often have just a 30 minute break all day. The dinner was enjoyed by everyone! Purchases - PTO continued their generous suppt of Timber Ridge staff and students. At the last PTO meeting, they approved purchasing literature f our Extended Learning Program. Thanks so much f the continued suppt from our PTO. Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders With the onset of colder weather me families are needing to drop-off and pick-up students who had been walking riding their bikes. Soon we ll have snow on the ground and snow banks adding extra challenges, so we re taking a moment f reminders. Parent drop-off/pick-up is only at the nth entrance. The south entrance is f buses only. Do not park your car while in the drop-off/pick-up lane. You must remain in your car. While in the drop-off/pick-up lane, pull up as far as you can. The first car in line should be in front of the first black pole. While in the drop-off/pick-up lane, do not stop your car across the crosswalk. People must be able to walk across the crosswalk to and from our parking lot. While in the drop-off/pick-up lane, your child should be ready to leave/enter your car. This stop should take less than one minute. You cannot park in the handicap stalls at any time, unless you have a handicap sticker displayed in your car. We greatly appreciate your effts to follow our procedures. We want our parent drop-off/pick-up area to be safe f our students and their families while at the same time provide a smooth and efficient arrival to and dismissal from school.
