House Selection Lincoln s Inn Own Label Wines specifically chosen by our Master of Wine to represent our house standard. Honourable Society of Lincoln s Inn White Wine 19.00 Sauvignon Blanc, Côtes de Duras 2014 This vintage has produced classic Sauvignon freshness of lime and apple on the nose and a fresh mix of fruits on the start of the palate. There is some mid richness with a touch of pear and pineapple, the richer fruit underpinned by the citrus at the back. An easy drinking glass of white with a balance of freshness yet mid depth of flavour to make it a Jack of all Trades, certainly goes well with fish and pasta but stands up to poultry. Honourable Society of Lincoln s Inn Red Wine 19.00 Bordeaux Rouge 2012 The nose is sweet fruited with lovely rich flavours and the ripeness is there on the palate; lots of rich black plum. The black fruits on the mid palate are backed by coffee beans and chocolate, the fleshy suppleness helped by rounded tannins. Towards the back there is a balancing freshness, a slightly firmer feel but the fruit ripeness gives sweetness on the finish. It makes a great partner to lamb but there is enough power of flavour to stand up to beef. Honourable Society of Lincoln s Inn Champagne 42.00 Jean Comyn Harmonie Brut NV Lovely fresh fruit lifts the nose and gives a refreshing start to the palate. The greengage so typical of Chardonnay gives richness in the middle then the citric freshness lifts and lengthens the finish. It is excellent as a reception drink or aperitif. 3

Sparkling Wines & Champagne Cava Torre del Gall Brut Reserva 2012 24.00 Catalunya, Spain There is a lovely crispness on the nose; lime and grapefruit and these citrus fruits refresh the start of the palate. The mid sweetness comes from layers of tropical fruits but the finish is long, steely and citrusy fresh. An excellent appetiser but do try it with the seafood starters; makes for a good marriage. Prosecco Prosecco Brut NV 28.00 Borgo Del Col Alto Veneto Italy White flowers give a heady floral charm and the start of the palate is lively, quite delicate and citrusy with lime and lemon freshness. White peach gives a sweeter feel on the mid palate but the mineral freshness towards the back lightens with the fresh fruit lingering on the finish. It makes for the perfect party wine, a great apéritif but there is enough flavour to enjoy with food. Champagne Pol Roger Brut Reserve NV 75.00 The three classic grapes of the region, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier are used to produce Pol s house style. The wines that make up the blend come from a number of different vineyards, villages and years ensuring complexity. The nose is a bouquet of flowers; the palate a fruit salad of flavours, sumptuous at first then given a sleekness and elegance by the fine mousse. Towards the back the flavours of fresh brioche enrich. Pol Roger makes a perfect aperitif but also compliments both fish and lighter meat dishes. 4

White Wines Fiori Fiano Villa dei Fiori Fiano 2013 20.00 Puglia Italy The nose has tangerine freshness, the palate citrusy and mineral but there is some mid sweetness of tropical fruits and ripe pear. The fuller flavours are balanced by fresh fruit at the back of lime and grapefruit and this lifts the flavours on the finish. An easy drinking glass of white; a Jack of all Trades suits the lighter fish and goes well with salads and chicken. Pinot Grigio Riff Pinot Grigio Terra Alpina 2014 24.00 Alois Lageder Alto Adige Italy The nose is very much what one expects from the grape; slate and mineral with fresh lime. There is more depth on the mid palate, some white peach and a hint of tropical fruit, the richness beautifully balanced by freshness at the back, the slate and mineral giving a slightly leaner feel to the finish. The perfect partner to sea food, certainly a wine for fish yet has enough personality for lighter meats. Chenin Blanc Indaba Chenin Blanc 2013 24.00 Western Cape South Africa Chenin Blanc has become an important grape in South Africa one which combines depth of fruit with freshness a bitter sweetness. Melon gives fleshiness on the mid palate with citrus refreshing and giving a lighter feel at the back. It suits most dishes with its bitter sweet uncomplicated character. Sauvignon Blanc Les Nuages Sauvignon Blanc 2013 24.00 Touraine Loire, France The racy excitement of gooseberry crisps up the nose. There are some richer tropical fruit flavours on the mid palate but behind lifting the fruit is the mix of gooseberry and lime. The freshness makes it the perfect partner to sea food dishes. Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2013 28.00 Marlborough, New Zealand Although there is a lot of crunchy gooseberry and fresh lime on the nose it is not over exaggerated. The mid palate has lovely sweet fruit, a mix of flavours with hints of tropical fruits and guava. Towards the back the mix of gooseberry and lime refreshes and brings out the flavours. There is enough freshness for shellfish yet enough flavour for the fuller flavoured fish, for chicken, pork and other of the lighter meats. 5

Chardonnay Valdivieso Chardonnay 2013 20.00 Curicó Valley Chile Riesling Ruppertsberger Riesling Trocken 2013 22.50 Ruppertsberger Winzerverein Hoheburg Pfalz Germany The Trocken German wines are not too sweet and this has all the freshness of limes and lemons on the nose and a crisp start to the palate. There is more depth in the middle with tropical fruits and some white peach hints of sweetness but at the back the citrus mix, the flint and minerals refresh. This style of wine goes well with the lighter fish, its mid sweetness suiting salads, chicken and turkey. The nose is sweet fruited rich and the palate has depth with lots of melon and greengage. There are enough fresh fruits to balance a mix of lime and apple and they give a lighter feel to the mid palate but the sweet fruit is there at the back and the finish is full and satisfying. It is certainly a must for stronger flavoured fish and if you like white with poultry and pork look no further. Tres Palacios Chardonnay Reserve 2013 23.00 Maipo Valley Chile From the vintage it may have the look of extreme youth but both nose and the start of the palate is rich with ripe fruit and full of fleshy melon. The mid palate has apple freshness but towards the back richer greengage dominates and fills out the finish. A wine with this richness yet freshness is not daunted by more powerfully flavoured fish; a must with salmon, and if you enjoy white wine with meat try it with the poultry dishes. Saint-Véran Moulin du Pont 2012 29.00 Vins Auvigue, Côte Mâconnais France Apple and lime give freshness on the nose and the start of the palate is crisp and crunchy. The mid palate has more depth with sweeter fruit such as greengage and pear, the richness balanced by the citrus and apple that comes through at the back. The freshness yet richness suits most fish, even deep fried, and rich flavours such as salmon and if you want a glass of white with your chicken the choice is easy. 6

Chardonnay Chablis 2013 35.00 Domaine Garnier & Fils France The vintage has produced very crisp fruit the nose flinty and citrusy the start of the palate very light and fresh. There is more depth in the middle grapefruit, apple and some honeydew melon but at the back the crispness of the year is there an attractive freshness that suits shrimps, prawns and fish dishes and works well with cod in batter. Rosé Wine Cuvée Pierre Martin Rosé 2014 27.00 Domaine Saint Felix, Vin de Pays d Herault Fresh on the nose with a mix of red fruits, the palate is dominated by mulberries and wild strawberries. The mid palate is quite light but it fills out towards the back and the long finish has red fruited freshness. There is enough flavour for salmon, a great partner to pasta and would even stand up chicken. Red Wines Merlot Tres Palacios Merlot 2013 22.00 Maipo Valley Chile Ripe plums fill out the nose and the start of the palate has richness and depth of fruit. The mid sweetness is balanced by red fruits; red plums and mulberry, slightly fresher at the back with a hint of vanilla spice yet the finish is very classic Merlot, fleshy and rich. The combination of flavours and the richness yet lighter freshness makes it a Jack of all Trades ; marries well with most dishes especially good with pasta. Pinot Noir Bourgogne Pinot Noir La Moutonnière 2014 30.00 Domaine Roux Saint-Aubin Côte de Beaune, France The mix of red and black fruits gives complexity first, some mulberry and then bramble. The fruit feels sweet giving depth of flavour at the start but towards the back the fresher fruits show through giving a lighter, fresher finish. The mix of flavours could be overshadowed by beef but there is enough richness yet freshness to partner pork and the poultry dishes. 7

Rioja Azabache Crianza 2011 22.00 Rioja, Spain The mix of grapes shows in the complex mix of flavours on both nose and palate, the red fruits giving freshness and the underlying black fruits a richer feel in the middle. Ripe tannins help the suppleness and the richness in the middle, balanced by some red cherry at the back, the finish has attractive oak spice. Certainly a good choice for beef and grilled steaks but does not overpower lamb and pork. Malbec Alpataco Malbec 2013 23.00 Familia Schroeder Patagonia Argentina Argentina has taken Malbec to its heart and made it special. Woodland violets give fragrance and charm on the nose, the black fruits of damsons and black truffles enrich the palate; fleshy, supple and sweet fruited. The rich mix of flavours stand up to the richer dishes and it is not overpowered by spice. Cabernet Sauvignon E S Vino Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 24.00 Mendoza Argentina The nose has a minty, eucalyptus charm; the bramble and cassis on the start of the palate give freshness but it fills out in the middle with more of a brooding power. The tannins, whilst giving structure, feel ripe and don t hold back fruit expression. At the back, coffee beans and liquorice add interest and the finish has depth. It is not Bordeaux but if you enjoy cabernet and want a change, it s worth a try. Claret Château Malbat 2012 23.00 Bordeaux Rouge This small château in the southern hills of the Entre Deux Mers, close to the Garonne, has a high percentage of Merlot in the blend, giving it fleshy black plum richness. The nose seems light with more of a bramble influence but the back palate has rich black fruits and liquorice with black plum filling out the finish. It is best suited to beef. Château Tour de Luchey 2011 24.00 Bordeaux Not so far from Saint-Emilion, Tour de Luchey has red cherry firmness on the nose and the start of the palate. The tannins, although giving structure, feel ripe and rich black fruits give depth of flavour in the middle. There is black cherry firmness at the back; a structure that suits lamb and pork. Château Le Gardera 2008 26.00 Bordeaux Supérieur This is classic Bordeaux with the blackcurrant and black cherry very much to the fore. The fruit feels ripe with the start of the palate feeling quite forward but there is structure and a firmer feel towards the back with hints of cedar wood on the finish. Claret was designed with lamb in mind and this is no exception. 8

Shiraz Grenaché / Syrah Château Fabre Cuvée des Jumelles Corbières 2013 20.00 The nose has an autumn hedgerow mix of bramble, rosehips and sloes,a touch minty the palate is fresh at the start and sweet in the middle, the fruit rich and ripe. The mix of fruits on the palate gives interest, the richness well balanced by an underlying freshness that gives a slightly lighter feel to the finish. There is enough character for quite strongly flavoured dishes and a freshness that suits the richness of pork. Côtes du Rhône 2012 22.00 Domaine de l Amandine, France The mix of grapes in the Southern Rhône give lots of complexity; fresh and red fruited on the nose, the palate has more of a black fruited depth, rich black cherry backed by fresher bramble. The tannins are ripe and rounded, the mid palate has flesh but there is enough fresh fruit there to balance and slightly lighten the finish. A wine for meat; there is enough richness for beef yet enough freshness for ham and pork. Pimpala Road Shiraz 2011 25.00 Geoff Merril McLaren Vale South Australia Spicy, peppery red fruits have an attractive minty character and the start of the palate is fresh. Richer in the middle, more of a black fruit influence with some sweeter fruit under the red; an attractive mix of flavours. The spice and pepper suits the more exotic foods; a great partner to curry, suits pasta and goes well with cheese such as grilled Halloumi. Sweet White Wines La Playa Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2013 20.50 Colchagua Valley, Chile 37.5cl The nose has a fragrant charm with a mix of flavours, the palate rich with apricot, peach and candied orange peel. The mid richness and the luscious sweetness is balanced by tangerine freshness yet it fills out on the finish with lovely sweet fruit. It makes a great partner to the dessert dishes, great with cheese especially blue cheese. Château Les Mingets 2010 46.60 Sauternes 75cl A vintage well rated producing rich, ripe fruited wines and this is no exception. The nose has lots of ripe apricots, the palate fleshy, full of candied orange peel and peach; Christmas pudding in a bottle. There is a backbone of freshness that lifts the flavours and brings out the peppery botrytis on the back palate. It certainly compliments the dessert menu but do have a glass with cheese, especially the blue cheeses. 9
