WINE LIST 2018 Our carefully prepared wine list features the different countries of the world and the individual grape varieties that are true expressions of the wide range of flavours now available. All are fantastic with food and are made by some of the world s finest winemakers. Bubbly Prosecco Valdobbiadene Bortolotti 28.00 This is a premium sparkling Prosecco, easy to drink and elegant with floral aromas of hedgerow blossoms and white fruits, fresh and lively with a creamy persistent mousse. Lenoble Brut NV 40.00 This is an elegant Champagne with a dominance of Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs providing soft nutty flavour with fine bubbles and a fruity nose. It is fresh, light, lively and well balanced on the palate with a long satisfying flavour. Lenoble Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs NV 48.00 This is an elegant Champagne with a dominance of Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs providing soft nutty flavour with fine bubbles and a fruity nose. It is fresh, light, lively and well balanced on the palate with a long satisfying flavour. Pink Bubbly Lenoble Brut Rosé 55.00 A R Lenoble is a small family owned house run by Anne Malassagne. Quality is impressive and this vintage rosé is made using Grand Cru Chardonnay selected from their special vineyard in the village of Chouilly and Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Bisseuil. Delicate salmon-pink colour with fine bubbles, a light sparkling foam and a fruity nose with scents of red fruits. Elegant, rounded, light, well balanced on the palate. Billecart Salmon Rosé NV 90.00 Pale salmon pink in colour, with a shade of gold. The nose shows hints of fresh pear and soft red fruits, followed by delicate fruit on the palate. White Wines New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Wairau River, Marlborough 2017 28.50 A quintessential aromatic grassy, gooseberry Marlborough wine. They established the region s vineyards in the late 70s, planted on silty, stony Wairau riverbed soils. An acclaimed Sauvignon, winning Gold at the Air NZ awards. A classic expression of the dry, gooseberry, grass and passion fruit style that has made Marlborough world-famous. France Sancerre Domaine Neveu, Loire Valley 2016/17 31.50 The Sauvignon blanc grape excels in this rich, flinty soil. This single vineyard Sancerre has the added complexity of mineral and herbaceous flavours on the palate. The immense long flavour of gossberries and blackcurrant leaves lingers on the finish. France Chablis Domaine Gautheron, Chablis 2016 30.50 A very traditional Chablis, it has fresh, floral aromas, appely fruit and complex, rich mineral character. Fermentation and maturation is very traditional avoiding wood to preserve the fresh steely flavours and subtle influence of the chalky vineyard soils. Chile Sauvignon Blanc La Playa 2017 20.00 Modern aromatic style Sauvignon Blanc with strong notes of citrus fruits and flowers together with subtle yet pleasant touches of fresh grass and ripe pineapples France Pouilly Blanc Fume Domaine Landrat et Guyollot, Loire 2016 30.00 Well established family domaine at Les Berthiers in Pouilly sur Loire. Now in the hands of the daughter Sophie whose attention to detail and desire to increase quality is very evident having made 3 superb vintages on the trot. Elegant and well balanced with a light smoky aroma but wonderfully flavoured and delicious length on the finish. New Zealand Pinot Gris Wairau River Wines, Marlborough 2016 26.50 Succulent ripe pear on the nose, with melon, apple and white peach flavours. A lingering finish complements the exotic spice and fleshy character, with well-integrated acidity. Italy Pinot Grigio Portenova, Veneto 2016 22.60 This is a typical Pinot Grigio from northeast Italy with a brilliant straw yellow colour, elegant perfume of acacia flowers, almonds and dried fruit. A soft, well-balanced palate combines citrus, exotic fruit and fresh apples. Elegant and dry. Italy Gavi Cortese Tenuta Neirano 2017 27.50 This aroma is perfumed with honeysuckle and almond and the palate is beautifully balanced, finishing with a distinct bittersweet sensation. 3
Red Wines Italy Primitivo di Salento Doppio Passo 2016 24.00 A fresh and aromatic red with amazing concentration of plum, blackberry and chocolate flavours backed by naturally light and soft tannins and light acidity. Rioja Crianza Bodegas Taron, Rioja Alta 2014 The wine displays a bright ruby red colour with aromas of fresh red berries, plum and cherry. On the palate, subtle oak and smoked notes from 14 months in American oak combine fresh redcurrant and cherry fruits. 26.00 France Château la Rose Saint-Georges St-Georges St Emilion, Bordeaux 2014 31.50 Rich and rounded Merlot fruit that shows perfumed aromas and velvety ripe plumy character on the palate, supported by soft harmonious tannins and a seductive lingering finish. Argentina Malbec ES Vino Finca Sophenia 2017 25.00 A premium grape growing region which has been producing quality wine for over 100 years. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months and has ripe plum and berry fruit with a minty complexity. A stunning red! Australia Rampant Red Shiraz Cabernet Merlot, Hamelin Bay 2015 27.50 Brilliant clarity with medium intensity with a cherry red centre and pink purple hue. Aromas of dusty mint and earth harmoniously meld with cherry, plum and berry fruits to afford a complex bouquet. The palate is round and of medium weight, with fine tannins. New Zealand Pinot Noir Wairau River Vineyards, Marlborough 2016 30.00 It is fermented and aged in oak for 9 months, creating a Pinot Noir to rival those from Burgundy. The wine shows aromas of cherry and wild berry fruits, shadowed by supple oak, whilst the palate is soft and generous, showing true varietal flavours. Rioja Reserva Bodegas Azabache 2012 29.50 Aged for three years in oak and bottle before release Azabache Reserva exhibits intense plummy fruits with hints of vanilla, spice and a soft rounded palate. Argentina Pinot Noir Alpataco Familia Schroeder 201 7 25.00 Perfumed aromas with notes of black cherry, redcurrant, summer fruit all beautifully balanced. Fine notes of vanilla and cocoa powder. Chile Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve La Playa, Colchagua Valley 2015 20.00 Intense garnet red colour with violet hues. The integrated, elegant aromas include notes of sour cherry, ripe red fruits, lactic characters, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full bodied, with round, ripe tannins. The initial aromas carry through a long finish. 4
Rosé Wines Rioja Rosé Bodegas Azabache, Rioja 2016 23.50 Bright strong pink in colour, this Rioja Rose has a great intensity of aroma of roses, strawberries and a slight hint of mandarin citrus. Smooth, lingering and long lasting taste with notable fruit and refreshing acidity. France Coteaux d Aix en Provence Rose Essenciel 2016 27.00 Paradis is a traditional dry Provencal rose made by the saignee method of bleeding the juice from the skins to preserve delicacy & character. The wine is well balanced with red fruit flavours and a fresh acidity. Round in the mouth with a long and fruit. France Sancerre Rosé Domaine Neveu, Loire Valley 2016 30.00 This single vineyard Sancerre rosé has the added complexity of mineral flavours on the mid weight, creamy textured palate. A pale salmon pink rosé, fresh with a delicate perfumed bouquet, finishing dry, well rounded with exceptional poise. Dessert Wines South Africa Red Muscadel Rietvallei Estate, Robertson 2015 75cl: 23.00 The Muscadel vines are up to 91 years old, a Red Muscadel vineyard, planted in 1908, to this day produces superb wine. The bouquet is enticing with a perfumed Muscat flavour, which follows on the palate with complex raisiny sweetness and rose petal fragrance. The acidity complements the wine and makes it easy to enjoy. A traditional fireside companion in winter, it is best enjoyed chilled with fine chocolate dessert or blue cheeses. Chile Late Harvest Sauvignon La Playa, Colchagua Valley 2015 ½ bottle: 17.95 Medium intensity bright yellow color. Aromas of ripe critics, melon, honey, quince, nutmeg and butterscotch.
