FROM THE PRINCIPAL CARE-A-THON (MARATHON) UPDATE As of today, we have raised $4,287.30. We need to raise $712.70 on Monday to have donuts and juice on Tuesday. DEB JAWORSKI After 32 years of teaching at St. Pascal s, Deb Jaworski has informed us that she would like to retire this month. Deb started teaching at St. Pascal s in 1985. She fondly remembers being called and offered the job on her birthday. Many of our parents were blessed having Deb as their teacher and many of their children have experienced Deb s gift of teaching. On Tuesday, October 17 we will be having a retirement celebration with the children during lunch. Deb s last day will be Tuesday, October 17. There will be a school and church retirement party for Deb at a later date. Starting Monday, October 23, Colleen Urness will move from director of the Early Childhood Learning Center to teaching 2nd grade. Colleen has 33 years of experience teaching K-2 grade and is eager to return to the classroom. Principal Laurie Jennrich will assume preschool director responsibilities. All of us at St. Pascal s wish Deb the best as she moves into her retirement years. Thankfully, she has agreed to come back and be a substitute teacher for us, when needed. MIDDLE SCHOOL CHANGES Based on the current enrollment in grades 5-8 we are making some additional changes in the middle school. Starting on Monday, October 23, Maureen Peterson will move to part-time. She will continue to teach 6th-7th-8th grade Language Arts, Media Studies and middle school/elementary art. Since the beginning of time, wine has been part of the ceremonies and celebrations of various religions, and people have recognized the connections between wine, human experience and the Divine. Tom Harpur, Episcopal priest and author of The Spirituality of Wine notes in reference to wine that No other agricultural pursuit from the dawn of time has more truly portrayed, and at the same time sacramentally conveyed, the essence of the deepest spiritual realities of our lives. In this retreat we will sample a variety of wines as we explore the spirituality of wine and consider its relationship to our experience of the Sacred.
