INVITATION! The 22 nd European Kraskin Invitational Skeffington Symposium on Vision Dear colleague: I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 22 nd Annual European Kraskin Invitational Skeffington Symposium on Vision. As announced already at the meeting in Aptil, the Symposium will be held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 19 th + 20 th + 21 st - 2017 at: Phone: +45 58 19 45 15 E-Mail: mail@kobaek-strand.dk Homepage: www.kobaek-strand.dk Please go to this homepage to find a map of the location or take a virtual tour. As previous years we offer Friday as an educational day with papers constituting the latest updates and news from the KSI Neurooptometric Rehabilitation and Vision Therapy Course. You are free to sit down and enjoy although we always encourage free discussion. We are proud this year to present Robin Lewis, O.D., FCOVD, - as a special invited Keynote speaker. Many of us already know Rob, KISS in Washington DC and from the CCVC - Memphis meetings at SCO. Dr. Lewis has been in private practice for 35 years and is co-owner and managing partner of Family Optometry. He is the current President of the Optometric Extension Program, the leading educating body for Optometry. He received his bachelor degree from Pacific University and his optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1981. Dr. Lewis has traveled, on numerous occasions, to provide vision services for those in need in Mexico. He has served as an expert advisor developing police vision requirements in Oregon, California, and New Mexico. He has been heavily involved in education and community mental health. He has served as an officer for local service clubs, and as a member of advisory boards for Mesa School District; the largest district in Arizona. Dr. Lewis also served as a board member of Tricity Community Behavioral Services, a not-for-profit corporation serving mental health needs, for 14 years; serving as Chairman of the Board from 1994-1996. Dr. Lewis was twice president of his local optometric society, is past director of the Sun Valley Behavioral Vision Conference, and currently serves as adjunct professor for Pacific University College of Optometry. He is a charter member of The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He was a founding board member and instructor for the Baltimore Academy of Behavioral Optometry and is now an instructor for the Clinical Curriculum of OEPF. Dr. Lewis served for over 15 years as the state director for the Optometric Extension Program Foundation and now serves as the President of the OEPF. He is the author of "A Behavioral Approach to Vergence Problems", "VT Scholarship Programs", and Remediation of Strabismus and Amblyopia in the Preschool Child published by the Optometric Extension Program Foundation. See also the program for Friday page 2. The meeting continues Saturday and Sunday as the usual E-KISS meeting and for this part of the meeting, I invite you to prepare and present a paper on vision and/or visual training, clinical or theoretical, although this is not a prerequisite for attendance. If you would like to present a paper, please let me know beforehand. It is OK to bring it upon arrival at the meeting. Papers do not have to be prepared as a formal presentation; they can also be suggestions to new or old procedures, case presentation, sharing of a problem case or introduction to a debate. A paper can be as short as 10 minutes. An interesting case presentation can sometimes call for a discussion lasting hours and lead to important Optometric insights. Even if you do not have a paper this year, your attendance is wanted participating in the symposium and the ongoing discussions will always provide for new and deeper insight into our profession. All necessary AV equipment including video-projection is available. If you have your presentation on Power Point or similar programs, just bring your own laptop or a USB memory stick. We will assist in setting it all up for your presentation. The Symposium will begin with registration Friday at 11:30 12:30; first presentation will begin promptly at 12:30. For those who choose to come Saturday, we have registration from 9:00-9:30 Saturday, the first presentation at 9:30 and the symposium conclude no later than 12:00 Sunday followed by Lunch. Evening hours are scheduled Friday and Saturday. Moderators: Steen Aalberg, Optometrist, FCOVD-I, FANO and Steen Saust, Optometrist, FCOVD-I, FANO P a g e 1 of 5
