I have been wondering about Mt. Taishan and would like to climb it since I was young. I had my dream realized on this most recent trip to China. I went to the top of Mt. Taishan and I saw the sun rise. It was a great view! Mt. Taishan is located within the jurisdiction of Taian City, Shandong Province and also known as the Eastern Mountain, Chief of the Five Great Mountains and First Mountain Under Heaven. This mountain park combines magnifi cent natural views with a long history and culture of the Chinese nation. It was listed in the World Natural and Culture Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. Because of its special geographical features, Mt. Taishan has a wide variety of natural landscapes. The mountain is famous for its sunrise and sunset, sea of clouds, Buddha s halo and soft rim views. There are famous attractions such as the Black Dragon pool waterfall and Cloud Step Bridge Waterfall. The mountain turns green in the Spring with hundreds of fl owers in full bloom. Majestic mist curls in the Summer while red and yellow leaves grace it in Autumn. The Winter covers the mountain in snow. AAA Im ports, Inc. 407-884-0078 June 2005 Page 5 [Continued from Page 1 - Six Thousand Steps] According to historical records, the Mt. Taishan region was an important birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization. Starting from the nature worship of Chinese ancestors, Mt. Taishan gradually developed into a sacrifi cial altar near to Heaven. A Tianzi (son of Heaven), as an emperor was called, was often sacrifi ced on Mt. Taishan to Heaven and Earth when he was enthroned. According to historian records, the ancients sacrifi ced to Heaven there 72 times in the last 2000 years. There are 4 routes leading to the top totaling over 6600 steps and 1595 meters high. For the limitation of time and my health, I did a little cheating and took the easiest route. I took a bus midway up the mountain, then a cable car to the top. I stayed at the God Rest Hotel, which is highest hotel on the mountain, in order to watch the sunrise the next morning. I was awakened by a hotel attendant at 4:25am in the morning. I made sure that I rented a very thick military over coat before embarking to see the sunrise. There were a hundred people all dressed in the same overcoat, all gathered around the summit to watch the morning event. It was cold but everyone was excited with the sun rising. You could hear hundreds of cameras clicking, capturing this wonderful moment. It is great moment! I walked down the 6600 steps of Mt. Taishan. My legs ached for a few days, but it was worth it. Someday I would like to take whole family to visit Mt. Taishan again. Bob Father's Day I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day! Here is a poem that I found online. TammyP Fathers are wonderful people Too little understood, And we do not sing their praises As often as we should... For, somehow, Father seems to be The man who pays the bills, While Mother binds up little hurts And nurses all our ills... And Father struggles daily To live up to HIS IMAGE As protector and provider And hero or the scrimmage... And perhaps that is the reason We sometimes get the notion, That Fathers are not subject To the thing we call emotion, But if you look inside Dad s heart, Where no one else can see You ll fi nd he s sentimental And as soft as he can be... But he s so busy every day In the grueling race of life, He leaves the sentimental stuff To his partner and his wife... But Fathers are just WONDERFUL In a million different ways, And they merit loving compliments And accolade of praise, For the only reason Dad aspires To fortune and success Is to make the family proud of him And to bring them happiness... And like OUR HEAVENLY FATHER, He s a guardian and a guide, Someone that we can count on To be ALWAYS ON OUR SIDE. ~Helen Steiner Rice~ AAA09000 14" Rose Vine Planter Two Assorted Designs 8 pieces per case Planted by Judy's Grandview Gardens

AAA02400 5.5" Splash Glaze Drop-In Two Assorted Designs 12 pieces per case Creations by Susan Kay Changing the Look of Design In a recent fl oral publication I read an interesting article about change. The article posed the question are we the same people or designers we were fi ve, ten even twenty years ago?" That's a great question. Thankfully, we all change and evolve. Embracing change can be challenging yet it helps us become more confi dent and develop individuality. Confi dence and individuality gives us the freedom to create with more passion. So with that in mind maybe today would be a great time to take the opportunity to break out of the old mold and try something new. Try a new design you ve never done before or use some new and different materials to create a whole new look. Remember designing is about being creative, unique and most of all being you and doing what you love. Enjoy the journey!
