GINRAW s uniqueness consists in the distillation at low temperature of its botanical ingredients, explains Lluís Jáuregui, achieved using the Rotaval, a system devised and developed by chef Joan Roca, which enables us to capture the purest aromas of every ingredient selected by our team of experts.
The Rotaval, devised by Joan Roca, is used in haute cuisine and also by GINRAW in its low-temperature distillation process GINRAW thus uses an haute cuisine method in its production process, a system involving a copper still to distil the juniper, a legacy of the traditional gin-making method. GINRAW means raw, pure and unadulterated gin, says Lluís Jáuregui. Thanks to the lowtemperature distillation, the most delicate flavours and aromas of its botanicals are preserved. This is the distinguishing factor as 80% of our perception of everything we eat and drink is via our sense of smell, he concludes. The four professionals, architects of GINRAW s personality, in tandem with the combination of traditional method and the Rotaval, have produced a fresh and smooth gin, so fine that it can be drunk neat. GINRAW is produced in the Mascaró distillery in Vilafranca del Penedès, says Roger Burgués. Laurel Balsamic aroma, intense, fresh and sweet, with a slightly spicy note. From Spain. Black cardamom Fresh aroma, spicy and effervescent with a smoky scent. Its warm flavour complements GINRAW s eminently fresh character. From India. Coriander seeds These lend spicy, slightly floral notes and set the citrus aromas. From Egypt. Tasting notes The nose offers an excellent aromatic intensity, essentially fresh with crispy citrus and floral notes and green tips of the combination of lemon, citron and kaffir lime leaf. Juniper is present in a very structured aromatic base with the alcohol perfectly integrated. Full-bodied and voluminous on the palate, it is smooth, pleasant and elegant. Floral aspects with a velvety feel, spicy and effervescent hints and a subtle smoky nuance. Freshness and warmth evenly coexist with a balsamic background, characteristic of juniper. Its lingering finish on the palate is long and delightful. Singular, avant-garde design The GINRAW bottle was designed by Jokin Arregi and is modern, groundbreaking and authentic. The oversized cap, made from ash wood from sustainable forests, is combined with an aluminium ring. The bottle itself features innovative gradated frosting evocative of the low temperature of the production process and leads down to the clear bottom that showcases perfectly the purity of the product. The base imitates traditional water or tonic water bottles, giving it a distinctive, original touch. Passion for gastronomy, for Barcelona and for excellence The ambitious GINRAW project is the brainchild of two Barcelona-born entrepreneurs: Roger Burgués and Lluís Jáuregui. With their experience in the luxury and alcoholic beverage sector, they founded Mediterranean Premium Spirits S.L., with the aim of creating and marketing new brands of excellence that are markedly different and with added value. GINRAW is the first project they have undertaken together and they have put all their passion and perseverance into creating a singular gin with a personality all its own, from the start of the production process to the tasting experience to the design of its bottle.
