TIPS FOR FOOD SAFETY Hygiene and Cancer Therapy Maintaining good hygiene is important in children receiving cancer therapy because their normal immune defenses are lower during the course of treatment. The risk of infection can be reduced by following simple hygiene rules, particularly in children with leukemia, lymphoma, and solid tumors. 3
