For All Campers: What to Bring: Sleeping bag, pillow, personal toiletry items, spending money (for snacks/souvenirs), towel (if planning to use showers). Although many of the bunking areas are heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer, campers should plan to dress as they do for a typical outdoor camping experience. Research weather forecasts for your visit; plan to dress yourself accordingly. Bunking Areas: A staff member will escort groups from the check- in point to their assigned bunking areas onboard the ship. Those checking in separately are asked to be patient at check in while waiting for a staff member to return to shore from the ship. We ask that campers choose bunks in their designated bunking area only. All groups are responsible for the cleanliness of their respective bunking areas during their visit Leave No Trace. The USS Massachusetts Memorial Committee Inc./Battleship Cove assumes no liability for lost or stolen items, and will not be responsible for any damage to your automobile. The security of all personal possessions is the owner s responsibility. Please lock your car and take your keys. Restrooms: Restrooms are located forward of the Wardroom/cafeteria on the main deck, aft of the P.T. Boat Museum and on the forward starboard side of the 2 nd Deck (one deck below the main deck), and adjacent to the Ship Store. Note: There are four showers on board the Battleship if anyone in your group wishes to use them. Orientation Films: Each group is assigned to a section from A to E. Each section will view an orientation film at a designated time that does not interfere with its dinner schedule. If members of your group miss their scheduled film and are interested in viewing it, please speak to a staff member and he/she will make alternate arrangements. Meals: All meals are served in the Wardroom aboard the Battleship. Refer to the Food Service & Big Mamie s Snack Shack information for details. The staff will ask that you return to your bunking area in preparation for dinner, and will escort you to the chow line. You will be given a meal ticket for dinner. These will be distributed by your group leader or a staff member. If you do not have a ticket you will not get a meal. Meal tickets are not required for breakfast. Fire Drill: A fire drill will be held in the evening. Please listen for the announcements. You will exit your berthing areas by following yellow fire escape lines on the deck and assemble on the fantail for roll call. Please keep away from the gangway, since this is where firefighters will board the ship in the event of a fire. Activities: A variety of activities will be offered throughout the evening depending on the instructors /presenters availability. Please check the Activities Board in the Wardroom for a list of available activities, or ask a staff member. Activities offered include: Morse Code classes, knot-tying classes, storytelling, living history presenter, flag-folding ceremonies, movies, and much more. Lock-down/Lights-out: The lower decks of the Battleship will be closed at 10:00 p.m. All campers and adults should proceed to the 2 nd and main decks at this time. At 11:00 p.m. Taps will be played over the public address system, indicating lights out. Reveille will be played at 6:30 a.m. as a wake-up call. Note: All gear must be removed from the Battleship by 9:00 a.m. when we open to the general public, but campers may spend the day in the Cove until regular closing time. The Ship s Store is open for the purchase of souvenirs on Friday until closing and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Please note our Overnight Program Patch is available for $3.00 each and the Overnight Program Pin is available for $2.99 each.
