Tasting notes Cherry red well covered. Great aromatic complexity where notes of black fruit and licorice essence are discovered accompanied by a delicate chocolate. Well built on the palate with sensations of ripe fruit and elegant in its path and elegant woods that integrate well in the set. Long and intense finish where the sensations of its aromatic nose are reproduced. Wine Advocate Review: DEHESA DE LOS CANONIGOS CRIANZA 2012 Produced with a blend of 88% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Dehesa de los Canónigos displays an exuberant, perfumed nose with floral notes and nicely-integrated oak. I was surprised to read in the technical sheet that the wine matured in American barrels for 15 months, yet it didn't have any coconut or vanilla aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins and good acidity, balanced, approachable and with persistent, tasty flavors. 160,000 bottles. For some reason, I missed the wines of Dehesa de los Canónigos last time, so I had to catch up and tase the current Source: erobertparker.com #221 Oct 2015. Complex scents of cherry, blackcurrant, violet and licorice, with slow-building smokiness and a strong vanilla nuance. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering juicy black and blue fruit flavors and notes of mocha and candied flowers. Shows very good energy on the broad, sweet finish, which leaves behind notes of anise and cherry liqueur. Source: Vinous Dec. 2015. Author: Josh Raynolds Score: 91
91 puntos Production 6.048 Magnum bottles of 1,5 l 88% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon Selección Especial Magnum 2010 Barrel ageing: 18 months in American oak, medium toast, fine grain. Tasting notes: {Special Selection 2010} Cherry colour well covered. Aromatic and elegant in the nose, where notes of ripe black fruit are perceived, perfectly integrated with a noble oak. Fresh, tasty and meaty, well barrel ageing feelings which surround you with memories of chocolate and licorice aftertaste. Long and complex finish. A wine that encourages you to drink. Wine Advocate Review: Selección Especial 2010 I tasted from a magnum of the 2010 Selección Especial, the house blend of Tempranillo from old vines and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon from their vineyard Sagra Vieja. The grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and the wine matured in American oak barrels for 18 months. 2010 was one of the best vintages of recent time in Ribera del Duero. The nose here reminds me of the first modern Riberas (like Dehesa de los Canónigos itself!), with subtle and elegant aromas lent by properly airdried American oak, so there are sweet spices and a minty hint that also reminds me of some of the old traditional Riojas. The palate is medium-bodied, polished and silky, lighter than I expected. Time to drink up. Only 6,048 magnums were produced. Production: 14.091 bottles of 0.75 l Solideo Reserva 2011 : 85% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Albillo. Barrell ageing 20 months in American oak medium/medium-high toast, 1 and 2 years of age and 4 months of French new oak, medium toast. Tasting notes Morello cherry with deep red tones. Elegant and complex nose, red fruits, liquorice and delicious chocolate. Well built into mouth, elegant, soft and polished; great embracing taste and delicate tannins; it becomes unforgettable due to its aromatic richness, silky tannins and a long harmonious end. Excelent balance and harmony. Previous vintages: Wine Advocate Review: Solideo 2009 The 2009 Solideo is an unusual blend of 85% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% of the white Albillo from very old vineyards, matured in American oak barrels for 20 months and a further four months in French barriques. The perfumed nose reveals flowers, ripe wild berries and something spicy, common across the Canónigos range, perhaps the combination of Cabernet with American wood that somehow makes them distinct and quite attractive. The late is very polished with fully-resolved tannins and a soft, silky texture. This is ready. 14,000 bottles produced. Reviewer: Luis Gutierrez Rating: 92 VINOUS Review: Solideo 2009 (aged for 20 months in new French oak barriques and 4 months in used American oak barrels): Saturated ruby. Deeply pitched black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by candied licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate and cedary oak. Sweet, expansive and seamless on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cherry-vanilla and cassis flavors and a sexy floral pastille quality that gains power as the wine opens in the glass. Delivers a serious punch of dark fruit flavor but comes off as energetic too, especially in the context of a ripe year, with supple tannins building slowly and contributing grip.
