Since their formation some 60 years ago Brecon & Radnor Suckled Calf Rearers have used rigorous vetting procedures to ensure the highest standards of welfare and husbandry on their members farms, and superior quality of cattle at their sales. The Calves are single suckled on upland farms using traditional, extensive methods based almost entirely on grass. Members are acutely aware that their breeding stock needs to be improved continuously and pay particular attention to the beef characteristics of both dams and sires. All calves presented at the sales will have been inspected by the Society s Stewards to maintain the high standards of conformation, dehorning, castration and general health required. Calves bought at these sales should eventually conform to the standards increasingly demanded by the major wholesale suppliers. All of the animals on offer have been reared on holdings which have Farm Assured status. Details are to be found alongside the vendors name and address. 12.
