This packet will give parent(s)/guardian(s) of Fairview Middle School students an overview of the various communication tools utilized by the Fairview School District. These tools include: Fairview Middle School Website CSIU Parent Portal Learning Links Nutri-Kids District Google Calendar Global Connect Phone Notification System Publications Constant Contact Weekly Email FMS Tiger Newspaper Tiger Tales Social Media Facebook Twitter YouTube For any information about the communication tools at Fairview Middle School, please contact the middle school office at (814) 474-2600 ext. 4124, or email Mr. Steven Ferringer at sferringer@fairview.iu5.org.

You can access the Fairview Middle School website at www.fairviewschools.org. This website contains many pages of essential information for parents, guardians, and students. Take a second to click through the different pages on the website to access information about clubs, organizations, and programs at Fairview Middle School. The website also has links to important forms and fliers. 1. CSIU PARENT PORTAL You can access the parent portal at: https://web4.schoolport.org/plexs/parentportal/login.aspx or by going to the FMS website and clicking the tab labeled CSIU. This tool is used to provide parents and guardians a way to get weekly grade updates for each student at Fairview Middle School. This is NOT a way to view assignment due dates and upcoming tests. 2. LEARNING LINKS You can access Learning Links at: www.fairviewschools.org This tool is used to provide students with nightly homework assignments in a printable PDF format. These files are uploaded daily, after student dismissal, to be available each and every night. Utilize this tool if your student misses a day of class and wishes to stay up-to-date on in-class assignments. This is NOT a way to get multiple assignment due dates, check grades, or see missing homework assignments. 3. NUTRI-KIDS You can access Nutri-Kids at: www.mynutrikids.com This tool is used to view lunch menus, monitor lunch accounts, and to put money into lunch accounts. The lunch menu is also available on the Fairview Middle School website under the tab labeled, Lunch Menu.

You can access the district calendar at: www.fairviewschools.org This tool is used to view upcoming district events; however, this does not include athletic events. To view athletic schedules, click on the tab labeled Athletics. This is NOT a tool to view classroom events. This is a phone notification system that alerts families of upcoming events, cancellations and delays, and other important district-wide news at the Fairview School District. This tool is used to announce major events, school closings and delays, and mass media announcements. It is NOT a tool used to announce classroom events or other weekly events. To update, add, or remove any numbers from the call list, please contact the Central Administration building by calling 814-474-2600 ext. 6272. You can also update these numbers by filling out a form in the front office.

We have many publications at Fairview Middle School: 1. CONSTANT CONTACT WEEKLY EMAIL Sign up for weekly emails at www.fairviewschools.org Fairview Middle School will input your email if it was provided on the emergency card at the beginning of the school year. This tool is used to get weekly event updates and to highlight any upcoming events at the middle school over the next couple of months. This weekly publication shows events for the current week and following week. It is sent out to the middle school every Monday morning. 2. FMS TIGER NEWSPAPER You can access the FMS Tiger Newspaper at: www.fmstigernews.com This tool is used to provide articles about current events and happenings at FMS. The newspaper is created in Miss Donovan s 8th Grade Specials class and is student organized. This paper is NOT for up to the minute happenings. 3. TIGER TALES You can access Tiger Tales at: www.fairviewschools.org under the tab labeled Tiger Tales This monthly publication highlights important events and an in-the-classroom look at Fairview Middle School. It also highlights student happenings, teacher updates, and includes important information about upcoming meetings, testing, and other crucial dates. Tiger Tales also provides an in-depth look at some of our clubs and organizations. As each issue is published, a constant contact email reminder will be sent with a link to the FMS webpage in which the document can be downloaded.

Search Fairview Middle School Channel This tool is used to provide short video looks inside Fairview Middle School. It is also the source of our publication, Telling Tigers. Telling Tigers is a daily video announcement program in which a slide show is created to display the daily announcements. These slides are presented in a video-format during all school lunches, are uploaded through the YouTube account, and are also displayed on the tab labeled Announcements on the FMS webpage.
