CONCHA Y TORO COMMITTED TO WINES WITH TERROIR The celebrated English magazine Drinks International once again confirmed Concha y Toro s excellence and leadership before consumers and experts in the wine industry when it named it the world s most admired wine brand for the third consecutive time. Over the years Concha y Toro has developed its properties throughout Chile to achieve a very broad range of varieties and vineyards in a diversity of wine valleys and conditions, which has allowed it to create high quality wines that have been very consistent over time. Concha y Toro has identified and developed distinctive origins in seven Chilean wine valleys. Selecting the right area and matching it to the right variety and vineyard management techniques are key factors in determining the final expression of an origin. In addition to the well-known brands Don Melchor, Carmín de Peumo and Amelia, we add Gravas del Maipo, Terrunyo,Marques de Casa Concha, and Gran Reserva Serie Riberas to create a portfolio that seeks to reflect the specific characteristics of its origins through distinctive and unique wines that are able to express the essence of each variety. 01 SUMMIT2014

USA SUCCESSFUL PRESENTATION OF 2009 At the launch of the 2009 vintage of Don Melchor in the United States, the winemaker Enrique Tirado led a series of tastings in the cities of New York, Miami and Palm Beach between April 2 and 4. In New York, attendees participated in private tastings in the elegant Benjamin Steakhouse, while in Miami, the chosen location were the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, The Capital Grille and Virginia Philip Wine Shop & Academy. The tastings were attended by recognized members of the specialized press and the trade who, apart from the 2009 vintage, (the 23rd of this Chilean icon wine) were able to taste the 1995, 2001 and 2005 vintages of Concha y Toro s iconic Cabernet Sauvignon. The guests stressed the fineness and elegance of the wine, together with its great potential and structure. The exclusive vertical tasting enabled them to appreciate the history and consistency of Don Melchor, and its longevity and depth. For many, it was a revelation that a wine of this elegance could come from the New World and not the Old World. According to Don Melchor s winemaker, Enrique Tirado, the 2009 vintage is extraordinary. It shows a good expression of fresh fruits, pleasant acidity and really good tannins that help to spread around the palate. In the mouth it is deep, dense, elegant and well matured. The wine presents a really optimum balance between its expressive fruit and its mature tannins, showing Puente Alto s great character. CANADA LIFESTYLE DESTINATION With a tour that took in the cities of Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, and Quebec, Enrique Tirado visited Canada during the week of September 8 13, meeting with leading wine writers and sommeliers in what was one of the brand s most successful tours. First, in the heart of downtown Toronto, Enrique met with a group of opinion leaders and members of the local press at an exclusive event at the very fashionable John Allan s salon for men, where guests enjoyed the 2003 and 2008 vintages of Don Melchor in a relaxed atmosphere accompanied by a selection of hors d oeuvres prepared especially for the wines presented. In the evening, Enrique attended a dinner with journalists from media outlets such as XY, Décormag, Mixte, and Catlefebvre.com, along with members of the Canadian Association of Enologists at the celebrated Harbour 60 Steakhouse. Participants at the event tasted the 1997, 2001, 2004, 2008 and 2009 vintages of Don Melchor and were impressed by the wine s extraordinary aging ability and more. It was a different scene in Quebec, where Enrique attended an event at the loft of renowned sommelier Phillippe Lapeyrie, where he led some of Canada s leading sommeliers in a private vertical 07 SUMMIT2014

tasting of the 1988, 1993, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009 vintages and demonstrated the incomparable consistency of Don Melchor, which has made this wine one of the best in Chile and the world. Finally, in Montreal Enrique hosted a luncheon for more than 60 guests at the celebrated restaurant owned by chef Martin Juneau, Centre Phi, one of the city s most prestigious locales. There, guests tasted the 2003 and 2009 vintages, paired to perfection with Juneau s creations in a special menu based on red meat: horse tartare, venison tataki with red wine jelly, bison carpaccio, and braised short ribs with onions, followed by a milk chocolate truffle with pistachios. BRAZIL 2009 LAUNCHED Brazil is Don Melchor s third largest global market and a country that is very receptive to top quality wines. During the week of August 12 16 Enrique Tirado visited the cities of Sao Paulo and Río de Janeiro to present the 2009 vintage of Don Melchor, the 23rd version of this iconic Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. First Tirado hosted a vertical tasting at exclusive Sao Paulo restaurants Cantaloup and Clos de Tapas that included the 1989, 1998, and 2009 vintages, demonstrating Don Melchor s incredible evolution and explaining the characteristics of the Puente Alto vineyard that make it unique in the world. In Río de Janeiro the winemaker had the opportunity to attend a dinner at Cavista Restaurante in Ipanema and then spent some time with the local press at Fasano al Mare, where he presented the 2009 vintage, describing it as an extraordinary year with outstanding fresh fruit expression, tremendous tannins, enjoyable acidity and an elegant, wonderfully balanced and refreshing palate that delivers the best of Puente Alto. THREE DECADES OF DON MELCHOR CONCHA Y TORO S ICON CABERNET SAUVIGNON LAUNCHED ITS THREE DECADES PRODUCT TO MARKET AS A TRIBUTE TO THE HISTORY AND TRADITION OF THIS OUTSTANDING CHILEAN WINE. The exclusive Don Melchor Three Decades collection of six carefully selected vintages is an invitation to discover and appreciate Don Melchor s extraordinary aging potential over the course of its 23 vintages and its elegant evolution in time. Composed of the 1988, 1993, 1999, 2001, 2005, and 2007 vintages each signed by its respective winemaker Goetz Von Gersdorff for the 1988 and 1993 vintages, and Enrique Tirado for the 1999, 2001, 2005, and 2007 vintages. The collection shows the faithful expression of a Cabernet Sauvignon from the exceptional terroir of the Puente Alto vineyard. 09 SUMMIT2014

Don Melchor Three Decades was officially launched at Vinexpo 2013, the international wine industry s most important trade fair, held June 16 20 in Bordeaux, France. The collection was also presented in China with a tour led by the renowned winewriter Sophie Liu and Cristián López, Concha y Toro s Corporate Export Manager for Asia. During the tour, which included Master Classes and vertical tastings of the different vintages of Don Melchor, López and Liu gave interviews in local media in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou, three of China s major economic cities. Throughout our tour of China we saw how the public was excited to discover the history of Don Melchor. It was a genuine pleasure to see how enthusiastic and supportive consumers were, sharing their opinions and showing their appreciation for the experience Sophie Liu. In December it was Chile s turn, and winemaker Enrique Tirado led an exclusive tasting in the Hotel Ritz-Carlton Santiago. The guests, a select group of journalists and sommeliers, tasted the vintages in the collection and were able to appreciate the remarkable evolution of this wine and the way the expression of the lively fruit remains intact across all of the different vintages. For the first half of 2014, Enrique Tirado will visit the major U.S. cities to present the collection Three Decades of Don Melchor, on a tour where attendees will taste the selected vintages, appreciate its aging potential and know the reasons that led the winemaker to choose such vintages to demonstrate why Don Melchor is among the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. ENRIQUE TIRADO THE MAN BEHIND MELCHOR 11 SUMMIT2014

ENRIQUE TIRADO HAS BEEN PART OF THE CONCHA Y TORO ENOLOGICAL TEAM FOR 18 YEARS -AND 16 HAVE BEEN AT THE HEAD OF THE DON MELCHOR PROJECT. THIS WINE S MANY CELEBRATED S DEMONSTRATE ITS SOLID CONSISTENCY OVER TIME AND THE TREMENDOUS WORK THAT ENRIQUE AND HIS WINEMAKING TEAM HAVE DONE AT THE PUENTE ALTO VINEYARD TO SITUATE ALTO MAIPO -AND THE TOCORNAL ESTATE IN PARTICULAR- AS THE BEST PLACE IN CHILE FOR CABERNET SAUVIGNON. HERE ENRIQUE REFLECTS ON THAT JOURNEY. WHAT QUALITIES MAKE THE PUENTE ALTO TERROIR THE BEST PLACE FOR CABERNET SAUVIGNON? Puente Alto is located on the third alluvial terrace, the oldest and most complex of the Maipo River. This terrace has rocky soil throughout the profile, and deeper down it is loaded with minerals, clay, gravel, silt, and round stones as a result of the thousands of years of erosion. These alluvial soils of volcanic origin allow good drainage and low fertility, which help limit the vegetative growth of the vines. Overall, these conditions have produced a terrace with a unique character that can deliver complex, incomparable wines such as Don Melchor. WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS PLAY A PART IN THIS ICON WINE? The area is located at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the Maipo River Basin, 2133 ft. above sea level. The cold influence of the Andes is very important and takes the form of cool breezes and a high daytime-night time temperature variation during the ripening period. This climatic phenomenon encourages the tannins to ripen well, helps balance the acidity, bring out fresh red fruit, and enhances the concentration of color and aromas in the bunches. These characteristics work together perfectly to produce the highest quality, which is expressed in the wine. WHAT IS THE CONCEPT BEHIND DON MELCHOR? I think there is a very clear concept that we have always maintained: respect for the origin and for the expression of the vineyard through the wine. What we want is a Cabernet Sauvignon that expresses Puente Alto that s our objective: the Don Melchor style and the expression of Puente Alto. WHAT MAKES THIS WINE EXCEPTIONAL? Don Melchor comes from a very specific place with a completely identifiable geographic origin associated with a tremendously valuable terroir that is capable of endowing the wine with a unique, recognizable, inimitable personality and expression. And its remarkable cellaring potential increases over the years, making each vintage an extraordinary wine. HOW IS DON MELCHOR MADE? After observing the Puente Alto vineyard year after year, we have identified small differences in the vines, which have been divided into seven blocks six for the Cabernet Sauvignon and one for the Cabernet Franc each with its own distinct expression. The vineyard is managed row by row and the needs of each plant are observed to convey these particular qualities to the blend. This way both the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Cabernet Franc make their contributions to the final blend of Don Melchor. HOW IMPORTANT IS DON MELCHOR FOR CONCHA Y TORO? For Concha y Toro, Don Melchor is the realization of a great dream, the creation of a world-class wine that expresses its own identity, the typicity of the Puente Alto terroir. Don Melchor has 23 vintages under its belt, making it the first and only Chilean wine with such a long history. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU PERSONALLY TO BE ABLE TO PRESENT THREE DECADES OF DON MELCHOR? I have been a member of the Don Melchor winemaking team since 1995, and during that time I have had the privilege of working alongside Jacques and Eric Boissenot to craft this icon Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that is able to express the identity of the Puente Alto terroir. Presenting three decades of this wine offers a unique opportunity to appreciate its extraordinary cellaring potential through the different vintages, demonstrating how its excellent quality and complexity only increase with age. WHY IS A VERTICAL TASTING SO IMPORTANT FOR APPRECIATING A WINE S POTENTIAL? Vertical tastings allow you to experience the history of a wine and its evolution over time. It s like observing the same person at different stages of his or her life -it s a unique opportunity to experience the identity of a world-class wine such as Don Melchor. SUMMIT2014 12

PUENTE ALTO: EXTRAORDINARY TERROIR Just 2,8 miles from Pirque, the Puente Alto vineyard has played a key role in the history of Chilean wine. In fact, it was there that the first French varieties were planted in the 19th century prior to the phylloxera outbreak in Europe. The vineyard is comprised of 313 acres grouped into 7 blocks, and specific percentages from each are especially selected to transmit particular qualities to the final Don Melchor blend. One of the property s most important characteristics is its location on the Maipo River s oldest alluvial terrace, where the soil s high mineral content, clay, gravel, and stones lend a unique character to Don Melchor that is clearly demonstrated in each vintage. GRAVAS DEL MAIPO 2009 LAUNCH THIS SYRAH FROM THE QUINTA DE MAIPO VINEYARD PRESENTS ITS 2009. First released to market in 2010, Gravas del Maipo is a Syrah that began as a tribute to the majesty of the Andes Mountains and to the gravel hidden in the eroded soils, displaced and silently shaped for thousands of years in the Maipo River Basin. The Maipo River has transported rocky matter from high up in the mountains, leaving behind terraces of Andean origin with soils that contain volcanic rock, ashes, and sedimentary deposits. It is precisely this rocky characteristic of the alluvial soils in the terraces of the river that imparts its well-rounded, complex, and elegant tannins to this delicate Syrah. From vineyards on the southern bank of the river in the Maipo Valley, this tremendously complex and intense Syrah is deep purplish-red in color and offers aromas of black fruits, blackberries, blueberries and notes of chocolate and tobacco. The palate is sweet and smooth with tremendous balance and a persistent finish that expresses fruit and freshness. Gravas del Maipo reflects the challenge of positioning Chile as a producer of high quality wines. After so many years of working, studying, and listening to the natural merits of the Puente Alto vineyard, I offer my greatest appreciation and admiration of those ancient soils capable of producing such great wines. Enrique Tirado. AMELIA 2013 RELEASE AMELIA, CHILE S FIRST ULTRA PREMIUM CHARDONNAY AND CONCHA Y TORO S ICON WHITE WILL RELEASE ITS 2013 THIS YEAR, MARKING THE BRAND S 20TH ANNIVERSARY. Amelia, Concha y Toro s icon white by winemaker Ignacio Recabarren, celebrates its 20th launch with its 2013 vintage. This bright and light greenish-yellow wine presents outstanding aromas of citrus fruits and apples complemented by a chalky mineral note and hazelnuts. The texture is smooth and elegant with a touch of minerals, earth, and ripe fruits, ending with a persistent finish that allows the appreciation of the tremendous potential of the Casablanca Valley for making world-class white wines. Winemaker Ignacio Recabarren, a forerunner in the Casablanca Valley, created Amelia in 1993, the first vintage of this icon Chardonnay from Chile. Today, 20 years later, the wine continues to amaze for its elegant and distinctive style. Amelia comes from the Las Petras vineyard planted in the Casablanca Valley in 1999. It has a southwestern orientation and is characterized by morning fog and cold, windy days. Therefore, the grapes ripen slowly and later in the season. The redclay soils feature low fertility in the upper part of the vineyard and moderate in the mid-sector and most of the lower areas. These soils, along with the cold climate and wind determine the volume of the Chardonnay, which delivers low yields of concentrated wine, making Amerlia a wine of tremendous category on a par with the finest wines of the world. SUMMIT2014 14

CARMÍN DE PEUMO WORLD-CLASS CARMENERE Chile s first icon Carmenere has earned an undisputed place among the great wines of the world. Not only has it obtained major international recognition, it has also reaffirmed, vintage after vintage, Concha y Toro s pioneering work with the variety for the last 15 years. Among the most important accolades the wine has received are the 96 points that US magazine Wine & Spirits awarded the 2010 vintage, the Best Chilean Carmenere title in 2013 for the 2009 vintage, and being named one of the Top 100 Wines of the Year. It was also the only Carmenere to appear among the Top 100 Terroir Wines of the World in 2012. These achievements are added to the historic results of Carmín de Peumo, which has been singled out for three consecutive vintages with the highest score from Robert Parker s for a Chilean wine, positioning Peumo as the best Chilean origin for Carmenere production and establishing Carmín de Peumo as a world-class icon wine, a modern Bordeaux-style blend made with New World fruit and pizzazz. 15 SUMMIT2014

IGNACIO RECABARREN THE WINEMAKER BEHIND THE WORLD S BEST CARMENERE 17 SUMMIT2014

RESPONSIBLE FOR CARMÍN DE PEUMO AS WELL AS AMELIA AND THE TERRUNYO LINE, IGNACIO RECABARREN IS ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED WINEMAKERS IN CHILE AND THE WORLD FOR HIS GREAT DEDICATION TO AND PASSION FOR WORKING WITH CARMENERE. WHEN DID THE WINERY BEGIN WORKING WITH CARMENERE? The winery began to separate Merlot from Carmenere back around 1998. We weren t the first, but we were the only ones to produce it consistently, year after year. We have 13 vertical vintages of Carmenere, from 1999 through 2010, and no one else in Chile has that. It is the modern history of Carmenere, and no other winery has that, only Concha y Toro. WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CARMENERE VARIETY? Carmenere has a very high natural color index that is much greater than Cabernet Sauvignon and almost the same as Syrah. In fact, it is one of the varieties with the most natural anthocyanins. When well made, as in our case, Carmenere has soft tannins; it is sweet, warm, and generous. It has very particular aromas and flavors of ripe plums, berries, and cherries; it is not green or alcoholic. It is seductive for its tremendous personality, and it adapts well to adverse conditions. FOR CARMENERE, HOW IMPORTANT IS THE PLACE IT PLANTED? The Carmenere variety must be planted in the right place. Winemakers will tell you this about other varieties too, but for Carmenere, this is something serious. If it is not planted correctly you will not get anything special even if you have the top 20 winemakers in the world. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT IS PLANTED IN THE WRONG PLACE? The variety is fickle. When it is not happy somewhere or it doesn t get the pampering it deserves (or thinks it deserves) it simply becomes unbearable and brings out its worst a green personality that can alarm the nose, especially those of international critics. WHAT DOES PEUMO S UNIQUE TERROIR DO FOR CARMENERE PRODUCTION? Peumo s soils and climate are two vital factors. The soils are deep and retain moisture thanks to a top layer of clay. This also allows the vine to be active until the end of May, when Carmenere is harvested. On the other hand, it is a good method for controlling vigor and vineyard growth. We have two important factors in our climate the Cachapoal River and Lake Rapel, which moderate the summer temperatures and give rise to cool nights. This allows the tannins to concentrate and the anthocyanins to be very lively and help soften the tannins. WHEN DID THE WINERY DECIDE TO MAKE CARMÍN DE PEUMO? After 5 or 6 years of working with the variety. The different winemaking and agricultural teams started working with it in 1998 and we began to see that it was possible to produce potent and voluptuous wines of greater complexity and structure in Peumo. 2003 was a great year, with low yields and much concentration, and that raised the possibility of making a wine of a higher level. It was not easy, but it worked out. And we ended up putting together what is now Carmín de Peumo. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BLOCK 32 FOR CARMÍN DE PEUMO? Our work in the vineyard allowed us to realize that there were blocks that were less fruity, such as Block 27 (where Terrunyo Carmenere comes from) and others, such as Block 32, that gave broad wines with more body and structure. This block is located farther west and has more soil, which enables the grapes to ripen more slowly. Finally, Block 32 was by far the place for Carmín de Peumo, and we have never looked back. WOULD CARMÍN DE PEUMO EXIST WITHOUT PEUMO? Peumo is, as someone once said, a hidden treasure. It is not easy to make a Carmín de Peumo, but it would not exist if it were not for the terroir at Peumo, and it would not be possible anywhere else in Chile because to make this wine you need to have this type of soil and specific habitat. And today Concha y Toro clearly makes the best Carmenere in Chile-by far. SUMMIT2014 18

TERRUNYO TERROIR WITH CHARACTER Major accolades such as the 92 points that the 2010 Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon received from the celebrated US-based Wine Enthusiast magazine or the 91 points awarded the 2009 Terrunyo Syrah from the same publication confirm Terrunyo as a very high quality and consistent line that seeks to produce unique and complex wines that deliver the best expression of each variety. From the time of its debut in 2000, the Terrunyo line, overseen by winemaker Ignacio Recabarren, has become a true benchmark for the Chilean industry in the Ultra Premium category by catching the eye of the most celebrated media that have sung the praises of its quality and consistency. Chile is a country with infinite topographical and climatic variations and therefore it is divided into three zones in accordance with a territory s proximity to the Andes Mountains in the east, the Intermediate Depression in the center, or the Pacific Ocean in the west. Terrunyo has vineyards in each of these zones and seeks out the terroir that best expresses the typicity of each variety. Terrunyo s Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in the Andes zone, specifically in the Las Terrazas Block of the Pirque Viejo vineyard in the Maipo Valley. The Entre Cordilleras sector is home to the line s Carmenere in Block 27 of the Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley. The Terrunyo Riesling comes from the Costa denomination, where it grows in Block 6, one of the coolest in the Los Boldos vineyard in the Casablanca Valley. The vines are planted in the highest part of the vineyard with a coastal orientation that allows the grapes to ripen slowly. In addition to minerality, we also find austerity and sweetness here, characteristics that confirm the excellence of the terroir, says its winemaker, Ignacio Recabarren. Other Terrunyo wines from the Costa denomination are the Sauvignon Blanc, which is grown in Block 5 of the Los Boldos vineyard in the Casablanca Valley and the Syrah, from Block 3 in the same vineyard. 19 SUMMIT2014

COSTA The Casablanca zone, where our wines come from, is the best; it is the coldest. In summer there is a difference of 4 degrees compared to other sectors. The good thing about a cold climate is that it permits a later ripening, as if it were cooking on a slow fire. Ignacio Recabarren ENTRE CORDILLERAS We worked with Carmenere for seven vintages to make Terrunyo, which without a doubt has helped me to gain greater understanding of the variety. It has very good quality tannins that are smooth yet firm. It is a powerful wine with tremendous potential for aging. Ignacio Recabarren ANDES The wines from Alto Maipo have always benefitted from their location close to the foothills of the Andes, where the soils are alluvial and rocky. Cabernet Sauvignon is a concentrated, elegant wine full of dark fruit, tar, and pencil lead -a classic of the Alto Maipo in its finest expression. MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA THE ONLY BRAND THAT REPRESENTS CHILE S DIVERSITY THE MANY HONORS RECEIVED BY THIS WINE -CRAFTED UNDER THE CARE OF WINEMAKER MARCELO PAPA- HAVE CONFIRMED IT AS ONE OF THE MOST SOLID AND CONSISTENT BRANDS IN ITS SEGMENT AT THE GLOBAL LEVEL. SUMMIT2014 22

Year after year, award after award reaffirms the proposition of Concha y Toro and winemaker Marcelo Papa to ensure that each variety of Marques de Casa Concha is grown in the zone that is best suited to produce exceptional wines that faithfully express their variety and origin and have the distinctive seal of Marques de Casa Concha. The line, which debuted in 1976 with the 1972 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the renowned Puente Alto vineyard, has been recognized around the globe as one of the most solid brands in its segment and the only one that fully encompasses Chile s diversity by representing vineyards throughout the country. After Cabernet Sauvignon, Marques de Casa Concha introduced Chardonnay from the Santa Isabel vineyard in Pirque in 1989, followed by Merlot from the Peumo vineyard a year later. In the 1990s, the use of more advanced agricultural and winemaking management techniques enhanced the quality of Marques de Casa Concha even more, transforming it into a wine that is in great demand internationally. In 1999, winemaker Marcelo Papa took over the line, imprinting the Marques de Casa Concha line with his precise, dynamic and passionate approach to crafting wines while preserving the brand s noble style to achieve just what the Chilean industry needed: modern wines with character that have opened the door for Chilean wines to enter the ultra premium segment. In 2005, Syrah from the Rucahue vineyard was added, but two years later the origin of this variety was changed to the Quinta de Maipo vineyard, D.O. Buin, in the Maipo Valley, which has a semiarid Mediterranean climate protected by the Andes Mountains. Its alluvial soils derived from the stone material carried down the Maipo River from the mountains, giving rise to a complex wine that offers firm blackberry and cherry flavors and fine-grained tannins that support the fruit. In 2008, the Chardonnay s vineyard was changed to the Limarí Valley. There, the cool coastal climate offers low temperature oscillation and better root development than other valleys. This effect is moderated by the morning fog, which allows the clusters to ripen slowly and optimally. After the Limarí Valley s potential was discovered through Chardonnay, Pinot Noir was introduced, made from grapes grown in the San Julián vineyard, 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean on the southern bank of the Limarí River. Lastly, in 2012, came a new addition to the line- Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Leyda Valley, 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the San Antonio Valley. These three varieties are perfectly in tune with the international trend toward producing fresher, more elegant wines. As Marcelo Papa, Marques de Casa Concha winemaker, comments, the wines that come from coastal D.O.s are refreshing, delicate and elegant, with great mineral quality. As always, Marques de Casa Concha seeks to create exceptional wines that faithfully express their variety and origin, bear the brand s distinctive seal, and are able to express the unique qualities of their origin in each bottle. MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2011 THE BEST CHILEAN WINE OF THIS IN WINE SPECTATOR The March issue of Wine Spectator magazine awarded with 93 points to Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, making it the highest scoring Chilean wine to date as well as the best Cabernet Sauvignon of the 2011 vintage. The wine was also rated highly recommended for the first time and selected for publication from among more than 750 wines from around the world in the 2011 vintage. 11 vintages of Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon, by winemaker Marcelo Papa, have scored 90 or more points in Wine Spectator, and the line has appeared on the magazine s top 100 wines of the year five times, thereby confirming the wine s impressively solid and consistent performance at the international level in its segment. USA SUCCESSFUL TOUR IN CALIFORNIA From December 7 to 18, Marcelo visited the United States, where he held several activities in the State of California. Cities such as Healdsburg in Sonoma County, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles welcomed the winemaker, who was accompanied on this tour by renowned chef Ruth Van Waerebeek. Together the pair hosted wine trade and wine press representatives at several events in which guests enjoyed a menu specially designed for pairing with Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay, Merlot, Carmenere, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. The idea behind the tour was to introduce Marques de Casa Concha wines in pop up lunches and dinners, as a much more private and intimate format than restaurants. The pop ups were held on roof terraces, locations with stunning views, and country houses, and gave guests the chance to engage in more personal, in-depth conversation with Marcelo Papa. To set the scene, Marcelo Papa and Ruth Van Waerebeek worked together on a proposal to enhance the overall experience of tasting the best Chilean wines, accompanying them with a selection of first-rate national dishes. The events brought together more than 100 guests, including renowned sommeliers from Wine & Spirits magazine, the editor of that same publication, Joshua Greene, and influential members of the press, bloggers and leading distributors. Q&A MARCELO PAPA A WINEMAKER ON HIS WINES 25 SUMMIT2014

MARCELO PAPA, CHIEF WINEMAKER FOR MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA DEFINED EACH OF THE SEVEN VARIETIES OF THE LINE, EXPLAINING WHAT MAKES THEM SO SPECIAL. HERE HIS IMPRESSIONS. WHAT DO YOU FEEL ARE THE MOST OUTSTANDING CHARACTERISTICS OF MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CABERNET SAUVIGNON? This Cabernet Sauvignon is a Maipo Valley classic. It has a very deep red color with luscious cherry, black currant, cedar, and blackberry aromas and tremendously concentrated flavors nicely framed by their firm tannins. The texture is smooth almost silky and its very good structure is an invitation to drink it now or age it for years to come. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CARMENERE? The Marques Carmenere comes from the Peumo vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, which is widely known for having the best conditions for this variety. This Carmenere shows those qualities with intense notes of ripe plums, black currant, and dark chocolate. The wine offers a firm tannin structure with a crisp accent of acidity that makes it a great wine that is both ripe and broad on the palate. HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THE MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA SAUVIGNON BLANC? The Sauvignon Blanc from Marques de Casa Concha is fresher than others because it comes from the Leyda Valley, which is influenced by the sea and the early morning fogs. This wine presents aromas of lime and fresh-cut grass; it is intense yet mild at the same time, with a delicious concentration of flavors wrapped in a mineral structure. WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT OF THE MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA SYRAH? Marques de Casa Concha Syrah from the Maipo Valley is powerful yet soft on the palate and has good density, ripe fruit, and blackberry and cherry flavors. This is a Syrah that truly reflects the variety s typicity in Chile. WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT OF THE MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA MERLOT? This is a broad, well-balanced, and muscular red with complex layers of black currant, spices, wild fruits, and plums with a touch of oaky vanilla and mocha that lend this Merlot a very pleasing dimension. PLEASE TELL US ABOUT THE STYLE OF THE MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA PINOT NOIR. I really identify with the style of the Pinot Noir from Limarí. There are not many Pinot Noir from this valley, which has demonstrated a typicity, elegance, and quality not found elsewhere. The Limarí Valley has very good conditions for producing Burgundy-style Pinot Noir, which begins with a cold maceration and uses open-topped fermentors, punch downs and no pumps the process is more artisanal than that used in the other wines. WHAT INFLUENCE DOES THE LIMARÍ VALLEY HAVE ON MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CHARDONNAY? Ever since we discovered the Limarí Valley s potential with Chardonnay, we have made great efforts to promote the origin. Chardonnay from Limarí is fresh, delicate, mineral, and very elegant. GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS WINES BORN OF RIVERS The six varieties that comprise this Super Premium line of wines seek to express the best qualities of Chile s major rivers by offering high quality wines with tremendous concentration and aromatic profile. Since it was launched in 2009, Gran Reserva Serie Riberas has stood out for offering a number of single-variety wines from vineyards located on the banks of or in proximity to the Tinguiririca, Cachapoal, Rapel, Maule Rivers. Concha y Toro s vineyards planted on river terraces and on adjacent hillsides benefit from the flow of water that influences soils and moderates temperatures. This allows the grapes to ripen slowly and produce concentrated wines with great personality and a broad, complex aromatic profile. Furthermore, Chile s riverbanks have very special climate conditions because they act as corridors through which sea breezes blow far inland and cool the temperatures during the day. Each variety and its vineyard are related to a major riverbank. For example, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec are associated with the Tinguiririca River in the Marchigüe D.O. The Carmenere is associated with the Cachapoal River (Peumo D.O.) and the Merlot with the Maule River (San Clemente D.O.). The two white varieties, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, are both associated with the Rapel Riverbank in the Litueche D.O. in the Colchagua Valley. The enological team is comprised of three longstanding Concha y Toro winemakers: Marcio Ramírez, in charge of making the Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Malbec; Héctor Urzúa, responsible for the Merlot; and Mario Miranda, who makes the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. 27 SUMMIT2014

GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS DOWN BY THE RIVER GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS BANK ORIGINS Sauvignon Blanc Charnonnay Merlot Malbec Carmenere Cabernet Sauvignon South bank, Rapel River South bank, Rapel River North bank, Maule River South bank, Tinguiririca River North bank, Cachapoal River South Bank, Tinguiririca River I STARTED at Concha y Toro about 16 or 17 years ago, and we planted the vineyard in Marchigüe the same year, so I ve seen the entire progression. At first the wines made from this vineyard went into other Concha y Toro lines, but we began a new project back around 2007 that changed everything. The company decided it wanted a new line of wine to be managed by new winemakers with a fresh approach. They asked three of us to each make a wine for consumers who know their wines and are looking for something different a wine that would fill a niche between Trio and Marques de Casa Concha. I set out to make a Cabernet, and I knew just where to start. In fact, we all did, and as it turned out, we each had a favorite site close to one of Chile s major rivers, which is where the name of the line came from Riberas means riverbanks. This Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on the south bank of the Tinguiririca River (yes, that s a mouthful, even for Spanish speakers) in Marchigüe (Colchagua Valley), about 35 miles from the Pacific Ocean. If it were much closer to the sea it would be too cold for Cab, but it s also not as hot as the land farther inland. Cool air blows in along the river and cools the area, and in fact, during the growing season, temperatures vary as much as 41º 43ºF in a single day. This broad daily temperature shift produces grapes with deep color and excellent acidity. I had helped plant the Marchigüe vineyard and knew exactly what was there. The combination of climate, geography, and red clay and quartz soils join up to produce wines where fruit and freshness are king. All that bright red fruit comes through clean and clear in the wine, along with a touch of pink pepper that gives it special character.
